    Is there no way to let it automatically connect? I've read that the 5" version automatically connects to the camera wifi. That would be the only dealbreaker for me.

      @@KarelDebedts (unless I’m missing something) the “auto connect” is still going through the monitor’s menu and selecting your previously saved camera. Although it saves your camera info, you still have to select it and tell it to connect. So, not very “auto” in my opinion.

It’s hard to describe, but the quality of the bag and the wear it’s able to put up with is great. It’s less about PM and mainly because Nomatic is such a quality company. Thinking about getting this monitor but just have 2 concerns. The 1000nit during daylight, like mid day, had any issues with this? And 2nd the 8 bit color, does that have much of an effect? I was thinking it might effect how luts look.

    • @RossBarnett02
      @RossBarnett02 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For me, it’s less about the brightness and more with the reflective display that makes it difficult to see in direct sunlight. However, it’s much better than the standard monitor on the camera / so, it could be better - but it’s one of the tradeoffs. Technically a sunhood would help but in my opinion it’s not worth the extra weight/size. As far as the 8bit - I don’t mind it at all. I’ll save the 10bit for editing/delivery. Mainly I’m using a monitor for framing and not color accuracy. I know my cameras/exposure well enough to not need perfect 10bit color out of an on camera monitor. Most of the day I tend to be using the monitor for framing and watching the waveforms for proper exposure.

    I've got my A Cam on Gimbal at all times, and a B Cam setup as a handheld rig. However It's sometimes a pain to lug both around and in a crunch I just grab the gimbal. I thought that most people think Sony's UI is the worst haha. Doesn't make Fuji's good though Fair point on all, although I think when fuji shooters talk shooting manual focus/zone focusing they're mainly talking about the interchangeable lens cameras. It's pretty awesome to have a manual focus 1.2 lens that's TINY, and you can only have that with a manual focus lens. x100vi is an incredible camera. Sure, not perfect but there's literally no other camera that packs this much in one small package. The 'x100vi alternatives' youtube videos are proof, there are no real alternatives atm haha. Ricoh GRiii would be the closest, but still missing a ton of stuff

    Professional Fuji shooter here: prepare for my biased opinion! Just kidding, I shoot several systems including Fuji. They got mid range autofocus, and it’s probably an unfair comparison coming from Sony. Also don’t let these other Fuji tell you otherwise, they shoot manual focus because they can’t lock focus in properly. Also it’s a damn shame Fuji didn’t update the focus motor on these and it’s probably part of the reason the focusing isn’t great

    • @RossBarnett02
      @RossBarnett02 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So what you’re telling me is that Fuji people just have a natural desire to want to pull that focus manually. Regardless of the situation - they live to have their pointer finger & thumb resting on a focus ring. So, when they adopt the Fuji system, they feel right at home and never want to leave. Not that they’re forced into manual focus because they have no other option in life. Makes sense.

    Its a very easy solution: get a zoom recorder with 4 XLR inputs, buy two 3.5mm jack to XLR cables and plug these cables to the ports on the receiver and into the Zoom recorder and record your audio externally. The zoom will recorder all four channels seperately. ALSO remember that majority of our DSLR/mirrorless cameras ONLY record a maximum of 16bit audio which is a lower quality audio than 24bit which a zoom recorder allows. So this is a much easier way of recording quad audio at a much higher bit rate than recording straight to a camera

    • @RossBarnett02
      @RossBarnett02 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s a good solution, but running a separate $200 recorder alongside this system that claims to do it already is what’s annoying. But, that’s unfortunately the best route to go. Just make sure you’re running 3.5 to dual XLR mono cables to utilize all 4 inputs. At that point though - you’re almost $500 invested into a non 32bit float 4 lav system with no mic cables, so you’d be better off going the DR-10L route.

    Does Image Playground support consistent characters? When in the U.S. I live close to Apple... Eh but you did not do justice to mirroring (after your video I read up on it). iPhone to OS/X supported screen share but say you wanted to record a video you had to use a 3rd party remote, a watch, or run around and press your iPhone to record. With the new mirroring you can control the buttons on the iphone which means if you're using you Mac as you monitoring when making videos, you can access the camera. Now if only IOS to IOS screen share.

    • @RossBarnett02
      @RossBarnett02 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The original Rode Wireless came in a white color as well and the very few times I used that mic to mic a bride it was all the way down her dress anyways. I rarely ever need to mic a bride, but regardless if it’s white or black it still needs to be hidden on a dress - so the black mics work just fine.

    Subbed, good video... Worth noting that when using XLR to 3.5 trs adaptor it needs to be able to provide basic power, like any microphone jack socket on just about every other product on the face of the planet. I was very disappointed when two adapters I bought from amazon, which look exactly the same as the ones you are using. It was stated they were specifically compatible with Rode microphones, but they do not function with a Rode videomicro II, which is as basic as it is popular and works on anything with a jack socket trs or trrs. The 2V-5V DC it requires does not even qualify as "phantom power", it is just standard. Do correct me if I am wrong. So right or wrong, make sure an adaptor you get allows current to go to the mic, cheap may not be cheerful. You might not need it right now depending on what mics you are using, but should the need arise you will have a 3.5mm socket that works with any mic.

      th-cam.com/video/wypPmda5a9A/w-d-xo.html Here's a general overview of the rig, cables have changed slightly just to have better management. It's a fairly simple 3 cable setup. I run a usb-c to usb-c from the Smallrig V-Mount battery to the USB-C on the camera. This lets me keep a normal Sony battery in the camera body which charges the camera all day and has better reliability overall than a dummy battery setup. (camera can still run even if the v-mount dies/unplugs) Then, a barrel cable from the 8v out of the Smallrig v-mount battery to the 8v connector onto the monitor. Then, of course, right angle HDMI to HDMI cable for the monitor feed.
