Love you Ross but I feel like the a7cii or a7cr would have been more "logical" choices -- you saying you would've felt pressure to use them in professional scenarios is just something you would need to mentally get past. If you really wanted to just have a camera for photos, there's no reason why you couldn't have one of the compact Sony's do that. You've already got all the professional lenses for FE mount plus you would be able to use them as an emergency video camera if you did need it. It doesn't feel like a fair criticism, idk. It's not like the x100vi is a bad camera, I just can't help but feel like an established Sony shooter would probably be better off with a compact Sony camera, especially if one of the main criticisms is that you would be too tempted to use them for video work because they can shoot great video lol. I don't have the luxury of buying a camera that isn't for professional use, so I still use my caged a7iv for personal photos and videos. I do look like a douche sometimes but I'd rather have the memories and files than not. I hear you on the jpeg front and not wanting to transfer a bunch of places for a simple still -- but I think a lot of people overlook creative looks or picture profiles in the Sony cameras. I have 3 film sims set in my a7iv that I'm super happy with, and yeah like you said you pretty much find a couple you really like and just cycle what fits the scene. The Sony app isn't great but it works well enough for wirelessly transferring jpegs to your phone. Literally the only complaint that I have at this point is the size and appearance. I would love to pickup an a7cii for personal use, but there's too many professional investments that need to come first! I'd love to see what you think after playing with some of the creative looks in camera on Sony. Sam Mallory has a couple very nice Fuji lookalike sims for free on his website that are a great starting point for creating your own!

I think you hit the nail on the head with this comment - the x100vi is 100% a luxury purchase for me. The real logical choice here would have been to keep using my A7IV, learn Lightroom (or at least a decent preset workflow) and take my A7IV + 35 1.4 everywhere for photos. It's a fantastic camera for photos. The only benefit I'm getting with the x100vi is the compact size + film simulations. I really looked into getting a A7CR with a compact prime lens. But, even then you're almost double the price when you add on a compact lens (that I don't already own). So, I hear you. If I was still growing my professional lenses/camera bodies the A7CR would have been the only choice. But, I'm not. It's just a luxury. My wedding videography business has 9 professional sony cameras already where we can film multiple weddings a day.. no need for any backups on the professional end.

@@RossBarnett02 You make a good point with the price! I would personally be looking at the a7cii instead of the a7cr because of the price, and I'd still probably suck it up and take the 24 GM and I'd need to hate the size of that combo before considering buying a slower prime just for the sake of being compact. It's a slippery slope for sure and you can end up buying and spending more if you're not careful. Since you have the Fuji, would you ever consider making a comparison between what the Fuji and Sony can do in-camera? I know you have no intention of using the Sony for that purpose in future so I don't know if it would be worth your time to dive into, but I think it would be an interesting video!

@@SuLu_B I’m always down for new video ideas. I’ll do some research and give it a go.

So be really honest, is it a better camera than the Sony zve10

Depends, do you need a vlogging camera that can *somewhat* “do it all” or do you want a fixed lens point and shoot camera for fascinating photos on the go?
Different cameras. Different uses. I’d take the x100vi for photography and the zve10 for video/hybrid shooting.
If it’s your first camera, go with the zve10. I think the x100vi is specialized and should be an accessory to a kit - not a first camera.
