WES AUDIO NG76:

Hey there, welcome back to the cabin! I'm Alec Brits, and today we're diving into the WES Audio NG 76 compressor. This sleek piece of gear takes classic compression into the modern era, emulating the revered revisions F and G.
I'll walk you through how it sounds and what I appreciate about it, along with some areas I think could see improvement.
Before we jump in, I'd like to ask for your support. Sharing this video would be a huge help in growing our channel. If that's too much, a thumbs-up would be greatly appreciated. And for those who'd like to go the extra mile, consider a super chat to support consistent uploads.
Full disclosure, I reached out to WES Audio to try these units, and they sent them over. But remember, they won't see this video until you do.
Now, let's get into it. The NG 76 introduces digital recall, which is a game-changer for me. It means I can pull up a session and instantly have all my settings back, a real time-saver.
Digital recall also raises the question of digital automation, and I'll explore that shortly.
This compressor offers comprehensive controls, including input, output, attack, release, mix, and a versatile sidechain filter with nine options. A nifty feature is the ability to switch between two settings, allowing easy A/B comparisons.
The NG 76 also has a saturation mode for adding a touch of warmth or driving it to distortion. It comes with both vintage and modern flavors, with low and high settings, all controlled through LEDs.
The NG 76 includes a VU meter for monitoring gain reduction, and there's an on/off switch for saturation.
The NG 76 can be controlled via the dedicated GCon software, which handles firmware updates, plug-in downloads, and diagnostics.
In terms of usage, it's all managed within your DAW. If you have one unit, you get a mono plugin; with two units, like I have, you get a stereo plugin.
Digital control allows for saving presets, a real convenience for both tracking and mixing.
Now, there are a few things I'd like to see improved. First, I had hoped for automation without introducing noise, especially for dynamic recordings. That could be a valuable enhancement down the road.
On my wishlist, a tempo sync button for release times would be fantastic, opening up creative possibilities.
Another useful addition could be an auto-gain feature for linked inputs and outputs, simplifying gain reduction adjustments.
Lastly, a separate mix control would be great for parallel processing, allowing for a blend of dry and wet signals.
Overall, the NG 76 is an impressive piece of gear. It combines classic design with modern functionality, excelling in recall and flexibility. The ability to shift from clean modern tones to harmonically rich vintage vibes, with the option for harmonic distortion, makes it a forward-thinking product.
Built with precision, this device embodies the spirit of innovation, pushing the boundaries of analog equipment. Kudos to the team at WES Audio for keeping the industry buzzing.
Thanks for joining me today. If you could help by sharing this video, it would mean the world to me and the channel. If that's too much, a subscription or a super chat for direct support is greatly appreciated. Most importantly, take care and be kind. I'll catch you in the next video.

Rupert Neve Designs Shelford Channel Demo & Review
I have a Neumann TLM 193.
Tbh I just come to listen your songs in these review videos Alec! Love your music! Also, I ordered the Neve 1073 SPX after checking out your review.
I am not really into that style of music, but that was pretty good. Really talented.
Your voice!!! and this gibson custom acoustic!!!
Hi, i was wondering...For future proof...Can i use just one channel of the SP8 IN and OUT to feed a mic without using the Adat to the interface? On another way, i want to plug my mic on IN1 for instance and the output 1 i want that signal go to my 1176 and my LA2A and then from LA2A on a line level of course to my interface. Is that possible? Short story imagine the SP8 is a 1073 with 8 channels for instance but with the SP8. IN 1 my Mic and Line out 1 To my compressors and so on until it arrives to my Interface... I hope i was clear. I saw that we can change from Digital Adat outs to Analog Outs on SP8. So can i do that? And later maybe i will buy an external Neve and use the SP8 as an Adat Expander... Thank you very much... :)
Is it an AI singing ?
incredible song and production. im sold!
Scott . I have seen you live with RFM and i think you are not only a great musician but have great stage presence. Thank you it is joy to see you play and listen to your music. X
I'm not sure I have words to express how badly I wish they made a cheaper, slimmed-down version with just these pres and this conversion 🙃 **eye twitch** At any rate, beautiful demo as always, sir. Thanks for everything you do!
This mic really suits your voice! Great sound!
I should have also said that I really love the song too!
Hmm. Now that I listen to this...at 3:00 when the music starts it's really dark sounding...and thick. Definitely needs to be brightened up. But I can hear that Neve thing going on with the vocals. I think I like API 312/512 better. It's tighter and brighter.
what's your thoughts on these vs 1073lb's in terms of sound? vs 1073 spx? just your opinion, I know you might not have compared those side by side. Great content and great songwriting!
I sure hope you're doing alright. I love your videos.
I'm surprised you didn't mention this, but the 1073LB seemed to tune the lead vocal and blend them in beautifully with the backing vocals while the 88RLB exposed the lack of pitch perfection. That's not to say you're a bad singer, you're fantastic.
Just got a Phoenix Ascent 500 preamp for 600€ due to a promotion. I love the sound of this unit. Adding the same high band on the 500 preamp is a great option.
I have the 45a pro's and after working on a variety of monitors I enjoy not having to second guess my mixes. That's what this expense gets you
Wow, so good music. Nice review. Great microphone. Congratulations! ♥
that was dope asf
Alec, just wanted to drop a message: hope you're doing well. All the best.
What is up with this : Yes, plugging both an XLR and a 1/4 inch jack into the Warm Audio 2MPX at the same time can compromise the line level signal, as most audio equipment is designed to only use one input connection at a time, and simultaneously using both can lead to unexpected signal behavior or potential damage due to conflicting electrical pathways. Why this happens: Signal integrity issues: When both inputs are used, the internal circuitry might not be optimized to handle the combined signal, potentially causing signal degradation, distortion, or an unbalanced signal. Impedance mismatch: XLR and 1/4 inch jacks can have different impedance values, and using both simultaneously can create an impedance mismatch, further affecting the signal quality. Design intent: Most audio equipment, including the Warm Audio 2MPX, is designed to use only one input connection at a time, and using I am surprised that all connections can’t be plugged in ALL the time. There is an input switch so why do the lines levels actually sound better and louder, and the signal reads louder when the xlr inputs are disconnected?
Nice review, but I loved your song
You alright, bro?
This is a REALLY great song! Found you in a search for the gear... but I love your tune!
Adds so much vibe, wow !
I really don't know why Pultec doesn't just make stereo versions of the 1A and new 1A3.
Can you make a video about the snacks that are on point please 🙏
PMC!
love your channel!! can you use this with anything ? How can you compare this to AMS Neve 1073 DPX ? I would like to use this with my workstation, my mic Rode K2 also an Acoustic Guitar. I just discovered your channel and i'm loving what you're doing! keep it up!
great song. great vid. great channel
Dude, your music is FIRE - and I dont say that on gear demo vidoes. Really, superb. Your demo is fantastic as well in the sense that you clearly know how to mix and have good taste. Some people demoing hw or plugins literally just dont know how to make things sound good
Wow Beautiful song ❤
Loved your video ! I bought one my self 2 days ago, and I can’t find the way to only hear my voice from the daw wich I can set up with auto tune, so how could I mute the interface in my headphones to not get that doubling effect while recording ? If you can help me, you are a genius ! 🙏🏼😊
Nooooo, I was so certain about which mic I was going to buy, until I saw your video.... Nooooooo :) I have some money I can spend on a new mic and these are the contenders: Neumann U47 Fet, Neumann U87 ai and Soyuz 017 Fet or tube. I was leaning towards the Soyuz 017 Tube, but after hearing this... The sound blew me away! The Soyuz might also be less versatile. And as the U47 is cheaper then the 017, so I would have some 1000€ to spend on a pre-amp. Which one would you advice? As an API 512 will be too costly with the purchase of the lunchbox and all... Fantastic videos and music by the way! I really love it.
one of the best reviewer out there. I am looking for a mobile interface for my travel rig. This one is a contender. Need absolutely the best preamps and conversion, for tracking. This might be it.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe you used all these expensive microphones in this review!
Can you review the UA 4710 D?
I hear Celine Dion has an 8020 as a second mic behind her TLM 251 for her vocals
Curious about a comparison between the 88 and a RND 511
Dude, how are you not a world famous musician. Absolutely love your work.
Hi, thank you for all the great reviews! I want to buy 8 channel di/preamp mainly for live use with synths/stage keyboards. How would you compare the sound of 1073OPX and new Phoenix Audio Theata DI-s?
Happy new year buddy, how've you been?
Hi thnx 4 the video....Maybe a noob Q here....For example if I have a voice track(mono)can I run it trough the BUs+ and go back to my daw??Do I have to use dual mono then? And if it's possible....can I like run 1 track (a voice) trough 1 comp and the other one for example the bass?
Hey! Neat video to this day. One question tho: what was the signal chain at tracking this song? Mainly the overheads and the snare get me, sound insanely good already. Thanks
bassline groovy as shit
Beautiful, Alec! I love it all, especially the backing vocals.
Sound great I got one in my rack
You’re really good!
Were you able to use this on the kick drum as well? Did you use the same drum mount on the wider rim? Any issues with the cables hanging from the kit? I’ve been really impressed with these so far, and am considering picking up several of them for location recording.
which of the two is better? this or the Neve 88m
Sounds horrible. Like a plugin. Without vibe, slow and hi-fi like. Terrible.
doesnt sound like a plugin....
