Got the TLM 103 and just got the NDH 20 and Mt 48. Once I get a designated treated room I'll ditch my kaotica eyeball and grab this. Don't think it'll be conducive to my workflow if I have to remove my eyeball mid session to adjust the knob on the mic and the mt48 does a lot I never read manuals but u should bc it does so much. Love Neumann

Would you recommend them for synths? I have a Moog One and Minimoog. And RME Fireface II currently

Thanks for this. Since the TLM uses an electronic navigation toggle for the settings, are these settings (polar pattern, pad, low cut settings) retained after you turn off the 48v phantom power & unplug the mic? Or do you have to reset them everytime you use it? Curious.

Now it's experimenting time as I track, mix and master my new album. How much to d o in the box, on my Audient 4816, with the outboard, what gear will I master with. It's infinite. Gonna check out the bam reverb. Have you compared it to the Tegeler Raumzeitmaschine?

I just wanted to point out something about the unboxing: I got a TLM 107 in France about 7 years ago (so moreorless 3 years before your video), and the mike was coming in a very beautiful and handy wooden box, but shock mount not included. Not sure if there are different pack versions in US and Europe,, or if they later remplaced the wooden box by the shock mount, or if both versions co-exist(ed)...

Thanks Alec! I'm trying to decide between this unit, a set of cranbourne camden 500 mic pres, and two API 3124v units for tracking drums. I know all will do the job well, but based on sound alone, which one would you recommend? My preference is a darker front end that would make taming harsh transients easier post-recording. The camden seems sonically the most clean, versatile and genre-agnostic. Any advice would be appreciated!

You can not bypass the mic preamps, the line instrument DI is colored, the only issue for some of us is, we still can not hear the transparency of the AD conversion because preamps and DI can not be bypassed, so the question is what kind of a AD does Neumann MT 48 have ?

Nice review. It was very distracting to have the editing keep cutting back to you talking while initially showing the controls. It would be better to just keep the camera on the compressor the whole time and just hear your voice describing the features. FWIW.

I’d like to ask your help with understanding how a channel strip affects an electric guitar signal…what is the purpose/benefit of using a preamp on an electric guitar like the shelford, then into DAW. And how would you remap through the Shelford. Does the preamp negate the need to use an Amp? Thank u

I love how musical and controlled this is! Unlike pedals where you kind of get what you get, you can really dial in, pull back, recall. This is like the ultimate reverb for outboard gear yet you can get really specific as if it was in the box reverb. I love it. Hopefully I can add it to my collection one day.
