YES!! Love this so much. Another great video, honour to get involved and play on such a great track. Kudos to Warm Audio too - that’s a serious piece of kit.
Another amazing review of a very desirable unit Alec. I hope the algorithm wakes up soon and gives you the exposure that your premium channel deserves.
Just stopping by to say thank you because your songs in these videos inspired me to start writing my own softer acoustic music (I'm usually a loud screamo/metal guy.) Very inspirational, man.
Wonderful video and song! I think all of your tested gear sounds great, because you know how to record in a professional manner! Keep up your great work and those amazing songs 👍!
Agreed! It just shows that as long as you have great musicians and the right people behind them taking care of the technical bits, you can make great sounding stuff with or without the high end gear. A bad musician playing the most expensive instrument and recording through the most expensive chain it still will sound bad.
Just added a wa-2mpx to my home studio. Used it four times, for a mic pre, DI, and frontend for mixdown. Since it is new to me, and the world, I was looking for other's reactions so far and found this. I love the sounds, but I also love the song! Nice work!
Top drawer again with the tune. I'm sure I'm not alone in looking forward to your releasing some of this music. It's just steeped in class, and is unashamedly from the heart. I don't own any Warm Audio stuff but if I was in the market for outboard, I think I'd try their equipment first. I think they've suffered a wee bit from Behringer Syndrome for the last while, so it's good to hear people speak positively about it on so many YT channels. They've made their way into some impressive studios.
Hey Alec. Awesome Video here. Congratz to the song and the production. This MPX is an interesting product and seems to be versatile. Thanks and greetz from Germany. Carsten ✌🏼
I've been kinda doubting if warm audio stuff is good or not, but this one really hit me, it's just amazing! I'm so curious about them now. I hope you do their other equipments in some point of future!
Far out! Beautiful song!!! Great song writing and recoding. I am not 100% sure what effect the WA MPX has, but what you have done sounds smooth and sweet.
The thing I don't understand about Warm audio is that they're supposed to emulate vintage gear, but literally none of their demos on YT sound "vintage". Quite the opposite, they sound really transparent and modern on every video testing warm gear.
@@erikarabie Right. I mean it's like every piece of gear they have is supposed to be a 60's clone and yet every one sounds so modern and clean. It's like I'm living in topsy turvy world
Dude, I love your music, and I seriously love how suggested the drums are in this track. Of course the performance with the bundle sticks play a big role on that but did you approach this recording with that in mind when you used that beautiful ribbon mic as an overhead? Also, you can hear how oomphed everything gets with that monster of a pre, definitely a great piece of gear.
Thank you so much! :) the AEA is my usually suspect when recording in the cabin control room as I don’t have much space. (As seen by the fact that it’s drilled into the wall 😂). The bundled sticks were the choice for this tune mostly by chance. I think this was the third take, initially meant to be replaced after writing the second verse with Ilana. I thought perhaps chorus 2 could have transitioned bigger with sticks and more definition. But as the three days of recording when on, I kinda just enjoyed the subdued nature of the grass sticks, so they stayed! :) The MPX really did a good job on the kit, specially with the overheads. Big fan.
Hey Alex, Great walk around London Town . Much more interesting than sitting in the wonderful Cabin. As a subscriber I would like to see you post a Logic project or project stems for a song that we can remix, add some parts and send back. It would be fun, interactive and probably great for subscriber engagement. Have a good day
How does the warm MPX stand up next to the Neve Newton for quality / tone? Yes - I know they are very different modules however, as you have demoed both I was wondering what your opinion is ??
They are super different to one another, both in tone and in functionality. The Newton is fast, open and incredibly detailed, with the option to add your harmonic choices in as you go. The WA-MPX has a very specific tone, with the ability to be driven and of course the lack of EQ and compression separates it from the Newton even more. I think they could work together in a rack, but they share very little tonally, each is great, depending what and how you are recording. Hope this helps. :)
@@alecbrits thanks for the reply Yes very different things however, which one sounds better to your ears and which one would you buy for sound quality?? Asking as am considering which one to buy I know it's down to my taste and wallet but as you've had both to play with I wonder which you think is the better quality and by how much on e.g a percentage scale
@@TaiChiRehabnot sure I can honestly say which is better. They are very different tools for me. I like the Neve for more transient material and the warm for vocals and bass related instances.
Can you explain your full chain? For example, you connected WA-MPX to a CL-1B, then conntected it through which Audio Interface? You get what I mean? I want this sound but I'm sure its not just WA MPX,, but its even saturators such as SSL Fusion for the master maybe? Can you please please give me the whole chain? Even your plugin chain if you don't mind . Only vocals
Sure thing! :) 1972 Neumann U87, WA-MPX, UAD Apollo X 16. Melodyne. Then on reverb it was the Seventh Heaven. My master buss processing is the UAD API 2500, waves L1 maximiser, and the Fabfilter pro L2. The vocal is automated a lot as I try my best to not use any other processing to showcase the products as purely as possible.
Dang man, this pre sounds gorgeous. I’ll have to get one and test it out against my OG Ampex 350… from this example I may like the warm better which is saying a lot.
Hey great vid, well done! It would have been really helpful to have the singled out tracks, and even the Mics on the drum kit. but really great otherwise
Good review. But I mean, that's a hell of a nice song. I walked away from the computer for a minute and did a double-take when I saw it was the same review playing.... Well done. Followed.
