Ghost Night Mini Documentary
Here is a short documentary that I put together about Ghost Night at the Ghost Light, a monthly show put on by my good friend Emily Rose with Ozzie Andrews. The show takes place every second Wednesday of the month at the Ghost Light Bar in Hamtramck. Every month they learn a selection of songs that were written by a deceased artist and bring them back to life for a short time.

My Favorite Place
มุมมอง 1452 หลายเดือนก่อน
I take you for a walk around my favorite place in Southeast Michigan. This is just a little ways outside of Monroe and I believe it’s still technically downriver. The first time I came out here was probably around 15 years ago. I’ve been all over Michigan and this spot is in my top 3 locations to go to for beauty and peace. I’m purposefully not name dropping it but I’m pretty sure you can figur...
The Inner Voice
มุมมอง 653 หลายเดือนก่อน
This short monologue film is all about thinking. How thoughts create feelings. How thoughts can influence our realities. How people think in different ways. Obviously 4 minutes isn't enough time to get scientific about it but that's not really my style anyways. I've always been deeply inspired by Buddhist thought and was influence by reading the Dhammapada recently to examine my own thoughts on...
Ghost Night at Ghost Light "Changes" by David Bowie
มุมมอง 615 หลายเดือนก่อน
Emily Rose and her band perform "Changes" by David Bowie. This is a monthly series that I film and photograph in Hamtramck Michigan at the Ghost Light Bar. Every month Emily and mainstay bassist Ozzie Andrews play the music of a deceased artist. They are joined by a rotating group of local musicians at each show. The event keeps getting busier and busier. I've had the honor of capturing these c...

Holiday Nights at the Henry Ford

I went up to the Holiday Nights event at Greenfield Village the other night with a friend of mine. Here are some of the shots I got. I wish that I got more but people get bored when you're stopping and filming for 30 seconds to a minute at a time. I love the shots of the musical performances.
Being Alive at Heritage Park

I've been working on a series about Taylor, Michigan. This is the third installment which focuses on the big park in town. It's one of the last natural areas left in the city. I've been coming here for years and find it to be a great place to relax, exercise or simply people watch. It's changed a bit over the years but remains basically the same. Maybe it's become a little busier but nothing el...
Dog Days

This summer I went on a trip to northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula as usual. I saw Drummond island which was a pretty interesting place. If you have an ATV or a Jeep it seems like it would be a lot of fun. It's a pretty busy place for the Upper Peninsula. Also featured in this short film is Rogers City and Petoskey. I will say the Drummond Island Resort had some very nice rooms.
Being Alive In Taylor Michigan: The Telegraph Cruise
มุมมอง 1.1K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here is the second part in my series of films detailing my experience living in Taylor, Michigan. I always wanted to capture the Telegraph Cruise but I usually get stuck working, as I'm sure many do. Fortunately this year I ended up getting that day off so I decided to go out and do some filming. I've been going to the Telegraph Cruise for years. Sometimes mistakenly you become a part of the cr...
Selection From Grandmas Legacy Film

Here's a little piece I whipped together from the Legacy Film that I made for my grandmother. This is a new business that I've been working on and believe in fully. I've been dedicating a lot of my time this year to getting this off the ground. If you're interested in having once made for yourself or your loved ones let me know. I'm willing to make special arrangements to build up my portfolio....

Nice, you caught my Deuce and a Half in the wiled. Cool video, Thanks
No problem!
We live in Dearborn Heights but we see so many of these places driving through Taylor to go to Walmart or other places and from what I've heard Luck Buffet was closed down due to failing a health inspection and getting new ownership I would go in there on occasion now it's like a somewhat mexican/chinese buffet and I've been wanting to try yum yum
Great job! I lived at Champaign and Gulley in the 80's when we were starting a family. Recognize all of the businesses and streets that you talked about. It was a nice neighborhood then. Still visit Dairy Queen once in a while.
I am 69 and like where I live but if I were younger looking to relocate I would consider Taylor if I were in the market. It looks like a really nice place.
Very interesting video. I admire musically talented people.
First!
I lived round Westlake and Wick and that Leon's was my first job when it was a Red Lobster...damn I'm old
is that thr old anker inn ?
No idea sorry!
Grew up in Wyandotte, and worked at BASF for many years. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Thanks for commenting!
Taylor Tucky.
TOO MUCH GODDAMNED ADVERTISING!!!
i lived on King's Hwy when I was a kid...late 60's. My dad would drop us off at the theater down town for a matinee and then we would go next door to the Woolworth's for an ice cream at the counter. ❤
Thanks for taking us along! Always love to hear your narration.
Love having you along as always! Thank you!
Saw your excellent video and I had to let Taylor's Kitchen know about it! They were very greatful.
Thank you! Pretty sure they told me about you as well. I’m glad you liked it!
Great video. I love our State.
Stellar video. We live in a funky corner of Earth, you have to learn to love it.
I wish I didn’t have an inner monologue. I mean. Not as constant anyway. I get back into biking or something… certain physical tasks get me into more of a flow state where my brain is less verbal I think…
have you ever been to the wyandotte chemicals club or the penwalt club to bowel there ?
there was a big sears store close to that spot
I really enjoy your videos. I’m originally from Taylor but moved out to Phoenix about 20yrs ago. I miss it and videos bring me back. Thanks for making them
I appreciate your watching! How is Phoenix treating you?
Thanks for taking us along! I went to Fermi lab outside of Chicago many years ago
Very cool!
Looks like Pt Moulee, I haven't been out there in 45yrs. Actually forgot about it, be even nicer if the Fermi towers weren't there.
Yeah those towers are something else lol
Shhh!!
Thanks for taking us along! You are very wise for someone who is in their mid thirties.
Thank you so much! I’m glad to have you around!
Great vid! I live near ATL and love our trees. I have a large red oak in my yard and want to make acorn flour like the colonials used to do.
Awesome!
I didn’t even look this up it popped in my recondations and I’m from southgate. That’s really crazy. Good video
Thank you very much!
my shoes never get wet(that's an inside joke between me and Jeff... sorry folks)
Hahaha they don’t!
I found a Morel in Palmer Park on Earth Day so keep yer eyes peeled!
Hot damn!
My wife and I were there yesterday walking the dogs. That's also my favorite tree that I say hi to every time we walk by. I'll be looking for you bro, take care.
You too thanks for commenting!
Thanks for the memories I grew up there and miss it. Wow, they got a D.Q there now.
Thank you!
Cool video, excellent narration. Waving a hand from Warren Michogan
Going there today 👍
i like your work a lot, especially the images, and you seem like a decent person, but i disagree with almost everything you said in this video. CBT is a total crock. This "therapy" does not delve into any of the root causes that are making people suffer. It's a quick fix that means nothing. That's why insurance companies love it. Set a goal, and when someone achieves it, pronounce them "cured". That's a ton of BS. And what's with this compliment a day stuff? The last thing I want is to be complimented or even noticed. Just keep it moving, sir or madam. I'm doing just fine. Stop trying to be someone you're not, and embrace and accept who you are. If we are God's unwanted children, so be it! Sticking feathers up your ass does not make you a chicken, my friend.
The compliment thing isn’t necessarily for strangers. If you see or notice something you like about someone tell them and don’t be mushy about it maybe. I don’t know. For me it’s about counteracting my deeply ingrained ways of being a curmudgeon all the time. It’s a waste of energy. And the cbt stuff…I’ve never done it but that’s all I read about being worthwhile for a lot of conditions. I’ve definitely always felt that the Buddhist worldview minus the mystical mumbo jumbo is the closest by far to how I feel about the world. I guess we disagree on some things. No problem at all. For myself I know that regular talk therapy is completely ineffective. I also know that almost every problem that I have in life was created by what I think or how I interpret events that are occurring around me. I’m glad you like the other stuff! It’s nice to have diversity of thought.
So was that a yes or no on putting feathers up your butt then?
@@MrYowen88 one feather. I don’t think two would fit.
Just caught ur last vid, very introspective. Welcome to the Great Awakening brother, a higher consciousness is coming for all humanity. We're on our way to a 5th dimension reality and I can't wait. Peace & Love
Great video, but I have to tell you… I’m not gonna be accepting any more compliments from you… at least until I hear you compliment one other person first.
Hahaha
I’m here for my fucking flowers, not to help you make Eagle Scout.
Is that a UFO… er… UAP… at the end?!
I like how you started this one with the shots of driving… contrasting the mundane insanity of the daily commute with the beauty and tranquility of nature.
You ended that on a really weird note lolol. Joe Frank would approve.
Hahah thanks!
First time I did the whole monologue thing. Part of me thinks this one would’ve been better straight observational but oh well. I learned a lot writing it.
I love your uncle’s accent. I could listen to him talk for hours.
Somehow I’m not surprised you have West Virginia roots… you kinda give off mountain-man vibes. I could see you in a movie about the old west wearing a hat made out of a bear’s head.
A compliment of the highest order
I’d like to check out that waterfall too.
I hope you get your cabin up North one day… I wanna visit old man Spisak and hang out on his porch.
Those seals look chill AF. Like that one shot looks like it’s in the fog. The music makes me think of fog. I was in SF for a few days in the summer of 2008 Maybe we were there at the same time. I think it’s my favorite city in the US tho I’ve only spent 3 days there. I get the sense that it’s become unaffordable and shitty due to the tech bros now.
That cat looks chill AF.
Deceptive. It will rip your face off. Like Nicolas Cage.
I enjoyed this! Do you have more videos like this? I’d love to see you do a photo montage of walks around Hamtramck.
I’ve been getting more into photo so probably a lot more soon. I def want to do one with all the ghost night photos that I’ve taken. I just don’t know if I should make it now or maybe next month. Something soon.
Wait till you get a shot of all of us lined up with our homemade Louis shirts.
@@MrYowen88 hahaha
Love these shots man, had me wishing I was at a cabin getaway haha. My grandmother just gifted me her old N60, I've never done any film photography so I'm excited to get into it. Cheers man!
thank you very much! Enjoy it! It's pretty simple to use.
I’ve taken a few trips up to the thumb with my dog in the last few years. It’s very manageable for a day trip. I recommend Port Crescent State park… I’ve camped there a few times & at Wagoner park too. There are a lot of cool rocky beaches on the drive up the coast where I’ve found fossils. If you like going to yard sales there’s one weekend where there are yard sales all over the thumb… that can be fun.
I’ve camped by that light house too.
I got my tire fixed in Bad Axe lol. Service was quick & cheap.
I sometimes watch “walking with Kevin”… it’s a similar concept but with celebrities so who give a shit about their made up problems. I’ve got problems, I’ll be on your walk show if you want lol. If my unliscenced but practicing therapy dog can accompany us.
That sounds awesome. One it warms up we should do it. You pic a place around the city if you know anything good.
I mean I live right next to Palmer Park… or Belle Isle is cool. There’s some cool diy fort type spaces @ both.
Remember when Leon’s was Red Lobster?
Damn man I’m surprised This American Life hasn’t sent a talent scout to your door yet lol.
Hahaha
I listened to this while washing dishes… gonna have to watch it again for the visuals. I was thinking your narration on this one reminds me of that guy Joe Frank, you ever check him out? Think you’d dig his work.
I love him and Joe Pera. You have good taste!
Haha I heard Joe Frank on wfmu so I gotta give them the credit for that.
Watched it again… great use/editing of the archival footage!
