The Most Beautiful Sunset I've Ever Seen!

Last winter my girlfriend and I went up to Port Austin Michigan. There's a longer form video on here of that same vacation somewhere. I'd always heard that the sun rises and sets there so that was definitely part of the allure. We also had a general goal of traveling the thumb in general. We didn't get to go to Bad Axe but we did go through many of the towns on the coast. Caseville seemed to be one of the biggest. I'd heard many things about it but we only drove through there on the way to Port Austin.
Port Austin was like a Ghost town in April of 2022. There was no one around. It sort of felt like we were in the Twilight Zone. Many of the businesses were closed as well. It was fun to see a side of the city that tourists never really get to see. I'm sure it's crazy up there in the summer time. We saw the best sunset that I have yet to see in my life up there. As usual the camera doesn't do it any justice.
On our way back down the coast of the thumb to Port Huron we stopped at the Forester Cemetery to see the grave of Minnie Quay. Supposedly her Ghost haunts the area. I'm not a big supernatural guy but I find the stories entertaining.
Definitely come and check out the thumb if you haven't before. It has a special charm, distinct from the rest of the state.

I’ve taken a few trips up to the thumb with my dog in the last few years. It’s very manageable for a day trip. I recommend Port Crescent State park… I’ve camped there a few times & at Wagoner park too. There are a lot of cool rocky beaches on the drive up the coast where I’ve found fossils. If you like going to yard sales there’s one weekend where there are yard sales all over the thumb… that can be fun.
