    I paid £1038.18 for a service and MOT on a 2016 Street Twin at Triumph North London.Most of the cost was labour charges.I nearly passed out when I got the bill.

      You obviously got rip off. I got a 2018 speed triple r mine will never go in to a dealer. I do the oil change filter and air filter myself. normally with these bikes a oil change is all required.

    Nice video. My goal for the next couple of years is to start learning some basics of mechanics and try to do the most basic staff like oil, filter, sprockets changes myself. Not because I don’t want to pay someone but because I think it’s a great skill to learn and it will save me a bit of money in doing so. If I do it right of course 😂.

    Hate to see ya sell the RS but I get it. The T700 is awesome bike and will let you do more adventure/ touring style riding and Yamaha's are dead nuts reliable. Always enjoy your vlogs!
    My 18' RS just rolled over 12k miles. I'm a little mechanically inclined and do my services (oil/filter) and brake fluid changes. I have a great local independent shop that will do my tires and will give me a great price. I just pull the wheels off and take them to them for R&R and balancing. They also have a diagnostic computer and I have taken my bike there for them to run checks at no charges
    Part of the 12K mile services is a valve clearance check. I just ordered a cam cover gasket pulled up the manual for the clearance specs and did it myself. For me it was fairly easy as I used to drag race cagers and was am familiar with running valves. As a side note the valves on the bike were well within spec.
    Look forward to further vlogs. Ride safe!
    Cheers from the US!

    To be honest you did the right thing getting it serviced professionally after only 2 years. You could have saved some money doing it yourself but nowadays most people (rightly or wrongly) just look for those service stamps on new bikes. Once it's 5 years old, sure, do it yourself and keep the receipts but at that stage you're not losing much on the resale by not having the stamp. 👍

      This is exactly my thoughts but also incase I had any warranty work required. Best keep it main dealer stamped until out of warranty

    I changed the fork oil, the coolant, brake fluid and always change the oil/filter on my street triple 675r I use Castrol 10w-50 fully synthetic. Just love the Street Triple, love the way it sounds, love the way it handles….what’s not to like.

    I just had my Tiger 900 GT Pro in for it's 6k miles services. They did the front break pads as well and charged me £500.... I'm dreading the 12k mile service that includes valve checks.

    How much are you looking for? for you sp full system I could be interested. I've just brought a 21 plate street 765 will your exhaust fit it? I know the 21 plate is slightly different. Keep up the great content 👏

    I also thought that $200 ($325USD?) was a little excessive. But, you had a variety of services performed. Tire replacement could've dropped the front wheel off at the shop & the charge could've been negotiated up front. Usually, $15 - $20 pounds. Brake flush (new project) w/ your fluids...Hmmm, we've come to the issue! I don't bring a steak to my favorite steakhouse for them to cook. I think 'consumables' are brought by the shop unless negotiated up front! Oops.

    Triumph, would charge a lot more + they want to use their own parts oil etc, but that’s the norm for all dealers.

    Sup bro 👍🏻 £202 yeah mate imo that’s a lot of money especially considering its just an interim service and like you say you supplied the bits 🤷🏼. I’m actually taking mine to AP Workshops don’t know if you’ve heard of them its an Aprilia specialist they’ve actually worked with 44teeth ⚙️ there doing the hole shabang on mine including valve clearance’s. Good to see you back on the TST hope you do a video of you selling it wouldn’t mind seeing that 👍🏻

    • @BikesofRye
      @BikesofRye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah think it was pretty steep but it's all for a stamp in the book really keep that resale value high. Never heard of AP workshops but sounds like you are with a reputable company. You getting the bike ready for riding season!!

    Did I hear rorrectly it is better to keep fuel tank full for storage? Because other than condensasation of empty tank why would you want a full tank of old fuel? I do opposite and keep miimal fuel in tank then when am ready to ride I simply drain mst of that and strt with all fresh fuel The old fuel gets burnt up in wife's high miles commuter a little at a time. but the babies get all fresh stuff

  • @marksmith8663

    you paid for a service stamp £200-300 probably worth it to keep resale the value .I tend to do oil's small service myself but then its passed the peek resale value .
    triumph charged me over £600 for a 12k service WHAT T F . Its now due a 24k service now ,which is fork oil change and swing arm out re-Greece I won't be taken it to triumph unless I have to again I've recently moved house its in country side notting for miles away apart from one pub and a very good independent motorcycle garage . What more can anyone ask for .

    • @BikesofRye
      @BikesofRye  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      12k is valve clearance check I suppose that is what cost you? If you have a reputable garage near you it's probably a great idea to use them as will no doubt be more experienced. And then you can wait while you have a pint

    • @chrisgreenwood271
      @chrisgreenwood271 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      we're any of the clearances out of spec at 12K ? I've always done my own valve clearances, but all my bikes in the past have been air cooled old school, don't fancy doing it on my Tiger 1050, £600 is a lot of money though.
