I know you don’t review sport or naked bikes very often but it’d be great if you could review the Tuono/RS660 and compare it to bikes like this -in the premium middleweight range. So many people online just boil eeeverything down to price. But, with deals and bargaining -I get get the Tuono 660 pretty close to the price of the 765 R. It lacks a tiny bit more power and a tiny bit more torque, but it weighs less and has a few more premium features. (the Tuono looks better too, but that’s all personal taste)
At the time I was shopping, i thought i was coming home with an MT-09. There was a $1k dealership mark up on the base 09, and across town there was $2500 off on a '22 Triple RS, making my out the door costs almoat the same. I love my Triumph!
One of the best reviews I've seen! I love that you showed the ergos on the bike and comparing to your MT09. Bringing your wife in there to show what a pillion would look like and asking how she feels was a great inclusion. Bravo!
As a mature, 60+ whole-life rider, I appreciate your brand / style of practical and thorough, real-world reviews. I know you live in the beautiful California motorcycle mecca, and I sooo appreciate the fact that you are not pulling wheelies for 100 yards, dragging knees at 90 mph through your beautiful canyons, and, especially, not splitting lanes going 30 plus mph like everyone else living out there and reviewing motorcycles... Most reviewers are setting bad examples for the safe enjoyment of our past time in the rest of the country..... and contributing to all the tragic results emulation can lead to, whether they know it or would admit to it. Thanks again.
Well said. I could not agree more. The wheelies and squid-ish riding on a lot reviews is annoying. It's a big reason why this is one of my favorite channels for bike reviews.
Ian The 765 engine is a masterpiece. That's why Moto3 picked it as the engine of engines! If you like the sound of that, I have the 1200 Speed Triple RR. Now we're talking absolute insanity! Mine at 9500+ rpm erases your brain and the sound raises heads way down the road. From 4500rpm to redline the torque wants to rip your arms apart. I can only ride it for about 35 minutes at a time because of the radical riding posture. It also sucks gas like there's no tomorrow. I love every second I'm riding it though. It's a real head turning beautiful motorcycle. It's a factory 21st Century Cafe Racer. My Thruxton R with it's Cafe Fairing is a 20th century Cafe Racer. They look stunning next to each other in my garage. My Mannequin flatly refuses to ride on the back of the RR though... Can't blame him as I wouldn't either! Great video! Ride SAFE and BE safe Ian! 👍👍
Ian, huge fan of the family addition on the videos. I would never actually use the pillion, but I love the 'candidness' of having the wife and kid join the review.
My dealer loaned me a street triple when my rally pro was in for the 12k service. Initially felt tiny compared to the rp. Was a blast to ride. Love the noise that triumph triples make when you give them the beans. Intoxicating.

Excellent review👍. My 2020 765RS has been stellar; a fun naked sporty ride but still a decent everyday motorbike. Chose the Street Triple over the 890 Duke R based on overall build quality and confidence in the brand.
@@kignacio Same here. I've seen a lot of comments about the difficulty seeing the revs on the the RS display. And since my local dealership only has R's in stock makes the decision that much easier.
Nice review! I have the street triple RS model 2024 and i must say that seating position is fine for a naked bike. Long rides on this bike is doable. I was quite hesitant in buying it I as i thougt itll be too agressive for my low back. I did few 8 hour long rides with not much discomfort (just the usual glute soreness). For reference. Im 5’11”, 90kgs, 32” inseam. I got the bike in May and i already have 9,000kms on the clock. Bike is awesome!

It’s cool to see you doing more sports bike and track related videos. I recently bought a Harley Sportster S (that I have already modified quite a bit) and I have to admit that after being totally consumed by adventure riding for a while, I am loving street riding and fast bikes a lot more than I expected. Anyway, the Street Triple R, the Yamaha MT-09, XSR 900, and Aprilia Tuono 660 were some of the other bikes I came really close to getting. All are great bikes. Availability and test rides really shaped my choice. I probably would have been happy on any of them though.
Great comprehensive review 🔥 Bought the new R a month ago and loving it.... i agree about the kickstand .... one small thing ... the TSA is triumph shift assist ... you can disable the quickshifter but who the hell wants to 😀
I had a good laugh about the Transportation Safety Administration comment. This bike really does come with everything. Including complimentary package check.
TSA I think is Triumph Shift Assist. I learned this recently when my battery died and it forgot i had a shift assist quick shifter. Had to go in and turn TSA off and on again.
For me, that riding position you illustrated (vs. MT09) is everything. I've ridden recent STriples twice, including one as a loaner while my bike was being serviced. They're awesome -- great handlers with a ripping engine -- and would absolutely be a contender were it not for their cramped size for my 6'1" frame. As is, I simply can't put them on the list when bikes like the MT09 and KTM 790/890 are far better suited to taller riders. This is a case when those who are a bit shorter of leg are in luck.
I always consider going back to a street Triple but I had one about 10 years ago, bought it brand new but was plagued with issues, worst of which was burning over a litre of oil every 1000 km

Thank you for this quality review! I was so happy with my 2019 765R (weight, engine, dashboard, braking & shassy). Had the Puig (small) wind shield and did a lot of touring and sports ride with it. Also appreciated the passenger handlebars. Did miss a cruise control that this model doesn't have either (I did write to Triumph on that). Unfortunate they reduced the fuel tank capacity too. A fantastic choice anyhow
This was the most in-depth review of a moto, with the right little bits of information that you look for, that most people end up not including and i'm here for it. I'm more sold on this bike now, but i must still see if theres a japanese bike that comes close
Absolutely fantastic video. Totally appreciate it. I am seriously thinking about getting one. Had a 2013 Triple R and loved it. Hopefully this has that little extra power.
Great review. Nice to see you call out the three cylinder vibe. I agree it is not as smooth as some. Good point about the power. Not many gears and 120 bhp is well over the speed limit due to the high revs. Nice to hear the quick shifter is better. I had a 2020 Street Triple R, might go back. GSX 8S has torque lower down than the Triumph. Hmm
I was waiting for your review to come out for this one so long that I went ahead and purchased it anyway 😂 Everything you've said about this bike is dead accurate. I love this bike and I can forgive some of the minor issues.
thx for the passenger test, my wife might dislike being on that saddle after knowing my old bandit 660S one......which was big and large (not to confuse with my wife's rear part) so i will have to check the more quiet trident 660 and check the back passenger seat.
Nice review! If I could have multiple bikes I might consider this. But as it is, it is too focused and compromised for a single, do-it-all kind of bike. Great looking in the white colorway.
Great review. Man when you dragged that MT09 out it was really obvious how much uglier the Yamaha is. I had a 2015 675R and my kickstand trick was to swing it forward of the clutch lever at the link. It's easier to get your heel to swing it out from there than out at the pad. My wife had similar views on passenger comfort, and Triumph offers grab handles as an option with this gen, which is annoying but at least it's there unlike with my old one. I do agree with you on the cruise control thing, if it's on the RS it should at the very least be an option on the R.
You’ve mentioned in a couple vids wanting reach adjustment on a cable clutch. That’s just simply how much slack you put in the cable right there on the lever adjuster. Cable clutches have been adjustable reach since before that was a thing. Lol
Brilliant review. I’m looking at changing my KTM 790 Duke, and the striple is on my short list. I know this has less torque, but more bhp, and think it will be perfect for the inner hooligan in me.😂
Nice video, i’ve not ridden the 765 striple but i have a 2008 675. I can confirm the kickstand hides on mine too. The trick is to push your foot so it folds the foot peg to access it. Not ideal but i don’t mind for my lovely ride.
9:58 The kickstand issue is resolved by lifting the foot peg up with your boot and the kickstand is right there. I practiced it literally twice and it's an easy move. ⚽
Hi new subscriber really appreciated the pillon passenger's perspective aswell as it's almost always left out or avoided altogether! Very good review 👏 👍 😊
Can you see if you can get your hands on a CFMOTO ibex 800? I have the CFmoto 450ss and absolutely love it but I also have a triumph tiger 1200. I’ve had 22 bikes in the past and I’m completely blown away by my 450ss. I think the features are great and the ride experience is fun and for the price you can’t beat it. However since you have a lot of experience with other ADV’s Im interested in what you’d think of the Ibex.
Great review. Just FYI, TSA does not stand for Transportation Safety Agency, but rather Triumph Shift Assist (Quickshifter). Sorry if you were joking and I didn't get it.
You should do what I have done on mine, I got a buddy to weld a one and a half inch peg near the bottom of the kickstand. It is so much easier to get it down now.😊😊😊
Quick 🎉 Question ……. I’m 6’3” and 34” ……… Will I fit ????? Second ….. if you could only pick one …. MT-O9 or 765 ??? Fabulous comprehensive nature and I appreciate the sincere opinion that this bike would satisfy 80%+ of Normal Riders ….. Top Material here !!!! Cheers 🍻
Great bikes. I bought one back in 2015 but sold it several years later. I still can't get over the test ride of a speed triple back then. The reliability may not be there but that thing was so well sorted out that I almost dropped the $$. BUT I'm a tight-wad.
Great comparison and review ian, however I feel that the higher price tag (mt09 SP) and the word value cannot be used in the same sentence. Value would be base model mt09 or maybe duke 890
Very very good review. Like always. But this is sport or even super sport naked, so you must ride like supersport. You must go down in twisties and see what is this motorcycle capable to do. And I own mt09. Riding position is very stranke to me. Handelbars are, for me, to high. It will be swett to compare T RS and Y SP.
Toepoke the kickstand instead of using your heel and that's a problem solved. The fuel tank size was always a issue cuz nobody owning one rides in "eco mode", that's not what the bike was made for. Also, putting a passenger on it defeats the entire purpose of the bike, just take the rear pegs off and go solo. (Also loose the dual bug eyes for a nice single aftermarket round) And most importantly: have fun!
There's a 2022 mt09 for sale near me for $10k used. Should I go for that instead of a new street triple r? It is a big price difference, out the door at a dealer a street triple would cost close to 12k
I've got the RS (my third street triple and by far the best) it's a great bike with one fly in the ointment, the TFT, it's crap, the original 2017 TFT was good the 2020 not so good and the 2023 the worst especially when compared to BMW TFTs but it's a minor complaint as the bike is superb, incidentally the dash on the R is IMO a better job and I'd take over my RSs TFT anytime, also the standard indicators in the UK are LED and much smaller than on the bike in the test. .
@@truss6282 it's because it's very new in my country not many dealers I have to visit other states .. so I don't want haste .. so far for my budget versys 650 this one xt 650 cb500x and Benelli 502 that's it .. pure off-road ones r quite expensive ..
That thing struck a Dragonfly. Here in South Africa the Triumphs generally have a very bad reputation. They are seen as expensive and unreliable. Their secondhand value used to be next to nothing but it's getting better. Nice review.
Too much fun to ride this one in cities. Someone please give it a half fairing. With this kind of power to weight ratio, this could be a fun Sports Tourer as well, now that this comes with a Cornering ABS and Cruise control option. Of Course not full time.
18:36 thats a much better place to put the coolant reservoir, in my 2014 675 Street tripple R, its UNDERNEATH the bike, in same place where the cat was on my bmw s1000r, and for a few weeks i thought thats what it was, a cat converter, but nope, unprotected PLASTIC res tank.
Thanks for the review. Accidentally it reminded me that the MT09, like the tracers. has a ridiculous foot peg position, particularly in the case of the Tracers which are supposed to be touring bikes, but the riders' feet are up and back in a sport bike mode. I wish Yamaha would stop and think what they're doing as it ruins an otherwise desirable bike.
I have a question thoughts on Ducati streetfighter v2. I currently have a 2022 Triumph street triple RS. I’m thinking of trading it in for the streetfighter. Any thoughts ??

I was waiting for your review to come out for this one so long that I went ahead and purchased it anyway 😂 Everything you've said about this bike is dead accurate. I love this bike and I can forgive some of the minor issues.
Please review the KTM 890 Duke R! The super scalpel! Would love to hear your take on it. Thx!
Those are all in the shop awaiting electronics fixes lol😂
thx for the passenger test, my wife might dislike being on that saddle after knowing my old bandit 660S one......which was big and large (not to confuse with my wife's rear part) so i will have to check the more quiet trident 660 and check the back passenger seat.
Mt 09 too upright and soft😩Street triple more sporty riding postion, stiffer and more racey engine✊🔥🔥Great review man🤩
Nice review!
I know this has less torque, but more bhp, and think it will be perfect for the inner hooligan in me.😂
The beautifulest naked bike. And high end.
Nice video once again. Congrats.
10:35 trick is to move your boot up by folding pegs you will feel the stand. It cones naturally after a few times.. muscle memory.
Nice video, i’ve not ridden the 765 striple but i have a 2008 675. I can confirm the kickstand hides on mine too. The trick is to push your foot so it folds the foot peg to access it. Not ideal but i don’t mind for my lovely ride.
Thanks for sharing!
Like the review and love the fact that you got the wife and kid out there with you. 🎉
9:58 The kickstand issue is resolved by lifting the foot peg up with your boot and the kickstand is right there. I practiced it literally twice and it's an easy move. ⚽
Excellent review, very thorough and well laid out. Thank you.
What a review i actually own one and agree with this man entirely. Can never get mine to wheelie tho even with tc switched off !!!!
Quick shifter??
Hi new subscriber really appreciated the pillon passenger's perspective aswell as it's almost always left out or avoided altogether! Very good review 👏 👍 😊
Wow..great review never seen someone diving deep with such details and practicality..beautifully reviewed
thanks
Hey, was wondering if you have considered XSR900 or test rode one, would really like to see your comparison to STR and MT90SP, thank you.
Not yet!
This was awesome. Great content!
You should do what I have done on mine, I got a buddy to weld a one and a half inch peg near the bottom of the kickstand. It is so much easier to get it down now.😊😊😊
Quick 🎉 Question …….
I’m 6’3” and 34” ………
Will I fit ?????
Second ….. if you could only pick one ….
MT-O9 or 765 ???
Fabulous comprehensive nature and I appreciate the sincere opinion that this bike would satisfy 80%+ of Normal Riders ….. Top Material here !!!!
Cheers 🍻
Ian, you did well for personally putting your hard earned cash on the mt09 sp
Great bikes. I bought one back in 2015 but sold it several years later. I still can't get over the test ride of a speed triple back then. The reliability may not be there but that thing was so well sorted out that I almost dropped the $$. BUT I'm a tight-wad.
Great comparison and review ian, however I feel that the higher price tag (mt09 SP) and the word value cannot be used in the same sentence. Value would be base model mt09 or maybe duke 890
Nice pick on the street triple 765
How does it feel on performances compare to MT09 ?
Thanks
Looking forward to your future review of the 2023 CFMOTO Ibex 800 with the KTM engine.
Maggie is the best part of these reviews. LOL. You should have her review one of your bikes.
Maggie with the Dad jokes! Great review as usual.
Does the vibration continue beyond 80 mph, or is just in that particular range?
Toepoke the kickstand instead of using your heel and that's a problem solved.
The fuel tank size was always a issue cuz nobody owning one rides in "eco mode", that's not what the bike was made for.
Also, putting a passenger on it defeats the entire purpose of the bike, just take the rear pegs off and go solo.
(Also loose the dual bug eyes for a nice single aftermarket round)
And most importantly: have fun!
I'm from the UK. What's the speed limit for you guys on the freeway? Here, it's 70 mph, but they are thinking of raising it to 80 next year.
Hi Ian. Have you got any plans to review Honda’s DCT bikes? Like X-ADV or NC750x
There's a 2022 mt09 for sale near me for $10k used. Should I go for that instead of a new street triple r?
It is a big price difference, out the door at a dealer a street triple would cost close to 12k
Say whaaaaaaat.?…. Ian has a witty sense of humor!..
Love your pillions review. Great review.
Thank you kindly!
Do you think the Kawasaki Z900RS is a better bike than this? I know it is a slightly different category and more expensive. Thanks for a great review.
Can you make a test ride of a super tenere 1200, I'm very intresred on you opinion about this bikes performence.
Such a nice review! Amazing mate! Cheers
Kick stand looks the same as it always has. I'd try to put it down using my toe as opposed to heel.
sach a humble and mature explanation on each details ...love this content though this was my 1st video on ur channel😃😃😃😍
I've got the RS (my third street triple and by far the best) it's a great bike with one fly in the ointment, the TFT, it's crap, the original 2017 TFT was good the 2020 not so good and the 2023 the worst especially when compared to BMW TFTs but it's a minor complaint as the bike is superb, incidentally the dash on the R is IMO a better job and I'd take over my RSs TFT anytime, also the standard indicators in the UK are LED and much smaller than on the bike in the test. .
Great review.
I like your content. I am subscribing to your channel.
What a wonderful review. Greetings from Brasil.
What an amazing review. You get a sub and thumbs 👍🏼 ❤
Please tell me the brand and model of the tail pack and tank bag you have on the MT09. thanks
Sw motech, micro and city
Where is your motomorini review man ?? How long we have 2 wait ... Really want to purchase one ..
Buy one.
Go buy it, why do you need a TH-cam video
@@truss6282 it's because it's very new in my country not many dealers I have to visit other states .. so I don't want haste .. so far for my budget versys 650 this one xt 650 cb500x and Benelli 502 that's it .. pure off-road ones r quite expensive ..
20:44 TSA- Triumph shift assist.
Please review the AJP PR7 650 adventure I think you will love it !! 🫡
That thing struck a Dragonfly. Here in South Africa the Triumphs generally have a very bad reputation. They are seen as expensive and unreliable. Their secondhand value used to be next to nothing but it's getting better.
Nice review.
Just running in my Moto 2 atm. Awesome bike you should ride one you will love it 😮
Too much fun to ride this one in cities. Someone please give it a half fairing. With this kind of power to weight ratio, this could be a fun Sports Tourer as well, now that this comes with a Cornering ABS and Cruise control option. Of Course not full time.
I love my 2024 765R, and I experience no buzz in the handlebars.
Does the dash not have Bluetooth functionality?
18:36 thats a much better place to put the coolant reservoir, in my 2014 675 Street tripple R, its UNDERNEATH the bike, in same place where the cat was on my bmw s1000r, and for a few weeks i thought thats what it was, a cat converter, but nope, unprotected PLASTIC res tank.
Ive heard a lot of people disliking the RS dashboard and this looks better to be honest, havent seen them in person tho so it might be different
Dude this woman is hilarious!!! I'm subscribing now!
how do the engines compare between street triple and mt09? tia
Mt 09 feels like a touring bike vs Street triple 765✊🔥
Great thorough review!
Glad it was helpful!
what about a honda cb650 with four cylinder engine? would it compare/be better or worse?
texas, utah, idaho, wyoming... and more
I have a question thoughts on Ducati streetfighter v2. I currently have a 2022 Triumph street triple RS. I’m thinking of trading it in for the streetfighter. Any thoughts ??
Very different engine characteristic, v-twin vs. triple. Both amazing bikes...
Superb review as always, will you be reviewing the Ducati Streetfighter V2 at any time ? 😬😁😉
Rear passenger handles can be bought separately from Triumph
Best sounding bikes ever! This or a hornet and 2 grand?
Cruise control is also an optional extra at checkout.
