Considering there are various LPL casters based in Europe, yourself included, it's actually so criminal that none of you got even one day of Worlds. It's been so horrible watching Riot neglect LPL English year on year. You've all worked so god damn hard, for a product that has such an uncertain future even now. Also you and Sam/Initialise are so f**king based for cataloguing the LPL games throughout the year, as well as keeping us viewers so informed about teams/players/metas etc. I pray you all still have jobs next year, and that eventually your efforts are suitably recognised and rewarded

You saying it's actually made you reconsider your career feels like a stab in the heart. Riot are blind if they didn't bring you back to LEC or for Worlds consideration. You've done a wonderful job building your brand this year, and I've really enjoyed following you over the last couple of years. I've loved watching the LPL, it's my favourite region, and I'm grateful to you and the rest of the team. Your such a wonderful talent, and while it's ashame it won't be seen on a larger stage, you've grown so much. Whatever you do next, you have my full support!

I'll be around as much as I can be, it's whether I can pay rent and bills really. I'm earning about half of what I did 2 years ago while working twice as much which is pretty hard to work with.

Dude, you've done an awesome job on the LPL. While the LPL generally isn't that popular with the Western audience, you have done a great job casting it and bringing attention to it. It's a shame as the LPL is a really "fun" region (whether or not you think it's the "best" or second best is besides the point) and really entertaining. It's honestly surprising that Riot has chosen to not have any LPL casting representatives for worlds AGAIN. I know those who are going will be trying hard to get up to speed on the LPL, but it really is not the same. A lot of the narratives will be like 2-3 years old and not representative of what the region and players are like right now. Keep up with the awesome work man; it's really appreciated from a casual fan in the west like myself who can't understand the Chinese cast.

hugely respect the grind you've put in to give everyone the ability to have the lpl with English commentary all year and I've enjoyed you, initialise, jamada, troubleinc especially but all lpl casters for this year and wished that at least some of you could've been given an opportunity at worlds. you guys made in my opinion the best league for game quality outside the top of lck, feel lively and energetic even in a situation that was optimal for commentating.

Nymaera, you are great, your casting is awesome and the work you did this year matters a lot.
I‘m convinced that you’re one of the best talents in League and if Riot won’t appreciate that, it’s their (and sadly our) loss.
I will remain hopeful to see you cast the biggest games in the future and give you a shoutout wherever I can 🫡

I started following the LPL a couple of years ago and when you started casting it you very quickly became one of, if not my favourite of the LPL casters. As soon as I found out that there was no official broadcast on Mon-Weds, you were my first choice of casters to follow and I am so glad I did. I have massively enjoyed the casts you, Sam and the various other talents you've had alongside you to cast what has been a challenging year and I guarantee that I will carry on watching every stream I can. It's not a great feeling to be left out of something, especially when its as monumental as Worlds on your doorstep but the outpouring of support I've seen for you hopefully makes things just a little bit better. I'll see you in the next stream - Katari

It sucks so much how riot neglects the LPL (One of the Best Regions in the world). From not promoting it at all anywhere to not even considering bringing the people that know the region the most. Even with BLG being one of the favourites to win it all.
It's like they think the LPL has no fans in the west or something.
I love watching your casts of the LPL and the vods + games analysis. You're the heart and soul of the LPL fanbase in the west.
I hope riot reconsiders their desicions. If you do a co-cast of worlds I'll be there for sure.
Wish you the best man. 🗿

You are fab! Everytime you are casting or on posdcasts you always have thoughtful and insigtful commentary. Can't imagine how much it must suck to be continuously overlooked by riot, but if nothing else, perhpas it softens the blow knowing that riot are habitually shit and have, throughout esports history, been utterly wrought with favouritism and nepotism. You are amongst good comapny of people who riot take the piss out of and sideline on the regular. Stay strong, hyped to hear more form you in the new season (or in the off if you're making content!).

I haven't been into esports for very long and I mainly follow the LCK as someone who speaks Korean, but you've made me want to follow the LPL more closely. Your perspectives and approach to casting and your work in general is really admirable and it sucks to see that all that effort has been snubbed. I would totally understand if this made you pivot into a different direction and focus more on building a personal brand but I hope you know that there are still lots of people who appreciate the work that you do for the LPL and the lolesports community at large.

You seem like such a chill dude, and I think your analysis is some of the best in the world; it's never baseless narrative, it's never reductive or hyperbolic, and you always quote examples of the things you're talking about. It's clear that your analysis is this good because the amount you watch, and the amount you remember, as you're clearly a smart guy. I'd love you to find some way to make a living out of this, if the talent hiring team for Riot have some kind of issue with you, maybe there's a whole other angle that none of us have thought of yet which you coild pioneer...we don't have an equivalent of Match of the Day? Theres a youtube channel with game highlights. But there isnt a show which plays/curates those highlights and then gives analysis and punditry before/after showing them. It's a lot of work though 🙃 just throwing something out there. Good luck bouncing back!

Your point about the archives is so true. As a long time League fan, it's sad when I look through the wiki of early seasons and there are no vods. Your costreaming of the LPL was the most professional of the english options and thats the reason I leaned towards watching it live, but the archive is invaluable as well.

I'm a big fan of your content. I liked you in LEC, I like you in different podcasts (90% of the reason I watch Rich's podcasts is because you are in them). The main reason I like your content a lot is because you are very analytical and explain a lot of details of what's going on, which is something I do for myself anyway because I'm a gigantic nerd when it comes to League, but you are extremely knowledgable about the game and I learn a lot from listening to you, the same way I love watching when Caedrel or Dom go full analytic nerds, that's my jam when it comes to lolesports content. Sadly, I can barely watch your LPL casts because they tend to start between 2 and 4 am here and I still have some respect for my sleep schedule, and I truly think you (and other LPL casters too, I just can't point out other names because like I said, I can almost never catch the broadcasts) deserved a spot at Worlds, and the english LPL broadcast talent has been extremely neglected by Riot for ages at this point, despite it being the best (or, at worst, 2nd best) region in the world, which is insane to me. I wish you had the chance to be on broadcast, or at least costream it, but if you choose to live view the games, you'll find me in your chat. Wish you the best

It's expected from that company. They have a history of not caring about employees.

    • @SiMeGamer
      @SiMeGamer 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

The company is not Riot, it's lolesports. It's a separate company and IT is the one handling people. Riot, as a whole, is very good to its employees. Even in these crazy layoffs this year, the benefits they got were the most generous I've ever seen from any tech company, ever. It's definitely a sour spot not to have people like this invited but it doesn't mean there is no care. Esports is hard to work with. It's a relatively new industry where everyone without exception are still getting used to it.
If you want this type of stuff to happen less, keep supporting the scene. Keep watching. Keep talking. If you can afford it and value the items and experience, go buy tickets and merch. Maybe even engage in social media if you're that type of person. As long as esports is struggling, you'll see more cases like this where some people are put to the side because of priorities. Every single ticket sale matters. And playing favorites and only doing some and not others really hurts work relationships. It's a very complex ecosystem.
So while we can feel bad an sympathize from the sidelines, there is a lot of room to also sympathize with the business side of things which we sadly don't get much inside information on. LEC was cut in half too. There are huge reshapes to the Americas region as a whole, so LCS is also getting smaller. Corners are being cut everywhere and experimentation is rampant because, again, this industry is still finding its footing. Riot is usually incredible when it comes to being the second to do something. In esports they are the leaders. So if they fail, most esports will likely fail for the foreseeable future. And yes, it also means cutting people off of co-streams. Not sure if you know, but the more co-streamers the less value sponsors get and the less value the production itself gets. I always watch the main broadcast and then catch up later on series or matches I care about from other personalities (like Caedrel or YamatoCannon). One of the reasons is that I want to support the broadcast.
So, until this industry is sustainable enough, this types of things will just keep happening because they have to happen. No matter what your morality states, the real world doesn't care and you can't run a business on your wants. You need to manage resources at the end of the day and if they are not available, some things will suffer. The fact we have what we have, to me, as someone who loves economics and doing personal analysis of various sectors of the economy, this is mind blowing. Sports are really hard to monetize. You have to have EXTREME interest from an absolute massive section of the world's population. Soccer and Basketball are this big only because enough people care. I don't but many of my friends do. American Football is cared about almost exclusively by the US population but its to such a degree that it makes up for it. Now go to volleyball or water polo or chess or speed cubing or marathons or esports and the levels of interest are so much smaller. While I love esports and engage with it with quite a bit of my free time, I can't carry it alone and neither can you. It has to be bigger than that. I keep a friend of mine updated and so he sometimes watches and wants to go to events and it makes playing the game with him more fun. But that's almost all I could do. I have other friends who play League and they couldn't care less about Faker or LEC or esports in general. They either follow traditional sports or they don't follow anything of the sort - they prefer watching Netflix or reading books or smth.
When (and if) esports becomes big enough, these situations will happen far less. It's a money problem. And being "nice" doesn't solve it unfortunately.

You can be genuinely proud of your body of work this year Nymaera. I have mainly followed LEC, with a bit of LPL and LCK. And it's only when we watch LPL and LCK can we appreciate what good casting actually is, and what a loss it is for the LPL crew especially to not be there. LEC casters in general did NOT have a good year and IMO should have had only 2-3 people at Worlds.
I hope you will be able to continue analyzing worlds with Rich and Keire, and hell - maybe you can do something similar to "Bangers only" that Monte does.

Yo Nymaera! Ive listened Summoning Instight, Side-select about the topic of LPL casters not being called up for internationals. Correct me if im wrong, but in the past the main argument was that LPL casters have none or very few stage/stadium casting experience and I think this reasoning still remains. Nevertheless keep your heads up! I remember Lyric in 2021 at worlds and Munchables last year at play-ins, so LPL casters NEVER being at worlds is definately innacurate, so if you are passionate about the game as you are right now, it will be just matter of time!

It's an absolute war crime that you aren't casting worlds. It's like you said it's so much more work to cast LPL than any other league and always has been. That alone should garner you more respect from Riot let alone how good your casting is. Same goes for all the other LPL casters. Not having a single one of you at worlds when LPL arguably have the most teams that could WIN THE TOURNAMENT is completely nuts.

Hey nymaera, hope you're well! Im sorry to hear you didnt get costreaming or a love slot for worlds!
As a fellow "physics gratuate wait i dont like physics" person, i can relate a lot. To me at least it kind of feels like a choice between doing something i know will lead to a moderately wealthy boring life, and forging my own path. I'm currently a carer for my wife and her parents, but finishing up the last few eleemnts of coaching and personal development qualifications!
If i had spare money id donate to your patreon, but untill i have some more clients, the best i can offer is some free coaching sessions, or a couple of questions that may help you decide what you want to do!
What avenues exist within your control that allow you to cast worlds?
Think of the caster you admire the most, what do you think is their most noticeable quality? How can that inform your future development?
Hope this is helpful if youve read this far, and all the best for the future!

It's a real shame. Riot has some favourites that don't make sense to me. The bare minimum of having some LPL and LCK English casters not even being met despite both having the best casters in the scene and covering the best leagues on the planet is disgraceful. Nepotism seems to be the root of it. I am sick of it. I hope that you find better pastures while pursuing your interest in casting if you stick with it and want to leave LoL altogether. I personally like that the wildcard regions casters are always the ones casting worlds. You know those weak Regions like PCS, VCS, LCS and LEC that has the least amount of game experience and game knowledge for their lack of high quality gameplay and low number of games casted. I personally just like hype casters, casters that are experts on rambling or is trying to make horrible plays sound good, is a perfect match for worlds where only the best players in the world get to compete and the wildcard regions are there to. If you spotted the sarcasm here, I salute you.

That’s totally fine actually, casting is subjective to a degree. However the LPL has an absolutely huge amount of games; 500+ per year, and that amount of gameplay makes it very hard to keep on top of the most important stories in the region.
Not having LPL casters at worlds may cause issues because these teams may well win the whole event, and it’s very very hard to deliver the best material on broadcast if you haven’t followed them through these huge amounts of games.

  • @MathieuCastro

At this point it seems Riot is trying to thin out all broadcast teams to bare bones only consisting of members with the highest clickabilty. And push all other engagement to co-streamers who for the most part already built their fanbase. Riot just wants to live in a world where they can farm the most engagement all while spending the least amount of money. They don't care about people streaming and actually casting the game well. They only want the numbers. The amount of people on the list who haven't actually co-streamed a single League game is ridiculous.
To add always have had much respect for your view on League and what your bring to the table. But I just don't watch LPL with any consistency for years now. From someone who watched every game in all major regions for years since '13, LPL always felt the hardest to feel objectively connected to. So many format changes and format revisions. Not aguring it at points wasn't a better model but was just easier to have access at convenient times from all other regions.

The truth is that you wouldn't bring any new viewers to Worlds and would just split the viewership. Consider either diversifying your brand (moving into more general esports or variety digital entertainment) or making your platform bigger either through:
    1. Producing regular content with bigger platforms like IWD (podcast/content on LFN and try to join the sack regularly) or ideally Caedrel
    2. Start covering things people actually care about, major regions like LCK ideally.
    3. Stop spending your time with dead end time drains like LJL. Sadly less than a percent of a percent of western viewership really gives a fuck about how the japanese teams do internationally and even less so about the LJL in general. You cannot spend time there and expect good things to come to you.

LCK fans and their silly noses in the sky. In which way, even if it happens, it affects splitting the viewership? It still counts for Riot as viewers, if not they just pick 1 co-streamer per languages. People watches the WC, because it is that. Subjectively, I don't even pay attention to what the casters say, it just works as background sound for the hype.
