That was very kind of you to say and make me very happy to hear. How can I say no to that? :) I actually working on a LOG video atm, that will be a great foundation for future color grading videos.
Finally getting my camera to do what I want and I was intrigued by your tutorial because it contradicts a lot that I have watched and wasn't getting me what I wanted. Anyone going against the grain always gets my attention. I will be looking at your other videos now, trying to solve why DaVinci changes colours when I import the footage and also why it darkens things significantly after rendering and uploading. Thanks for making this.
@@persvanstrom i actually have Cannon EOS M 200. But it has many similar things including sensor. Not much videos on this camera. I uploaded cinestyle profile and tried to practice grading. However the Lut i used didn't do a good job. So i just came to the conclusion that it doesn't worth ising it. So i am looking for the ways to use standard settings for shooting to get better results.
@@persvanstrom yes surely you can write to me nict007@gmail.com Her name was Stina Ulberg and she can through a mission in Sweden. The time is a long time ago around 1973. God bless
You're so welcome! It was my pleasure and I'm very grateful for your comment and that you liked it... Got anything specific you want me to cover in my next video?
Thank you so much.. I got this Camara for my TH-cam videos, this was very helpful... Does this Camara brings a filter integrated or do I have to mess with the settings?? Tfs xo
Thank you for the kind words. No, the M50 doesn't come with any integrated filters. Only cinema cameras usually does that. I can recommend a simple screw on filter if you need for example a ND filter. If you film outdoor a lot and do more complex shots a matt box could be helpful :)
Thank you very much and I'm super glad you got something out of it 💛🙏 I got the 22mm as my first lens and I love it. Such an amazing little work horse. The 2nd lens was also the 50mm 1.8 STM, before moving into EF L lenses. Was it anything you feel i missed or anything you where particular happy with? If you don't' mind me asking?
Thank you very much and I'm glad you liked it. Yes, the video is shot on the M50 and with exactly the same settings i show in this video. It's graded in DaVinci, but I would rather say it's color corrected more than graded. It's 8bit, so I prefer when I use the M50 to get as production ready fotage as possible straight out from the camera. I can recommend the link in the description to a more indepth guide on the profiles if that would interest you. Anything you want me to cover in a future video? I mostly use R6 now and started dreaming about the C70, but stil own and use my M50. Do you own a M50 and what do you mostly shoot with it in that case?
@@persvanstrom I would love for you to cover it yes. I use the M50 myself with the 22mm, the 11-22 sometimes for wide angles and the 30mm Sigma. Have the 16mm on my wishlist. I have used a similar profile before (-4 sat/con) and I always struggle with color afterwards in Davinci. I never get it to look good. So yes - please do! :)
I would try to shoot as close to finished output as possible with 8bit. If that is a LUT or just camera settings depends a little on what you are shooting and what you prefered method is. 8bit can be corrected, but is hard to work with, so I would try to get as close to perfect out of the M50 as possible or use a flat profile with more dynamic range like the one I suggest and just role with that. Hope that helps
Of course, questions makes me genuinely happy. To my knowledge I don't know of a way to use the touch-screen to switch on or off video. I tested on my M50, but couldn't find a way. With that said, I'm not 100% sure it can't be done. Sorry if I couldn't be of more help...
Thank you sir, I hope to take my M50 hiking after Christmas. I just have the kit lens but hopefully these settings tips will help. Do you have any tips for using fairlight in Davinci Resolve? I am learning to use Davinci and I got some audio equipment I also hope to learn.
I love hiking and plan to both hike and photograph next year. What type of hiking do you enjoy the most? Fairlight is a tricky one and I'm still a beginner. It all depends on what you want to achive?
@@persvanstrom I hope to make movies one day, I typically do day long hikes. I'm from the western side of North Carolina, so I typically go to the Appalachians to hike, occasionally to local lakes or historic parks. I'm hoping to head to the outer banks soon and this summer I hope to check out some swamps, it's sort of a dream of mine to get a picture of a giant Alligator, fortunately we have those here but not where I live.
Sorry for the late response. Had a little bit of life hitting me, but back on TH-cam. Your dream sounds AMAZING. You should do it, just shoot (I admit I hesitate every single day). Are you soloshooter?
can you post a video on how to colour grade with da vinci ....love your teaching style

I think standard or neutral is the way to go. 8bit is hard to grade
Thank you so much for this informative video.

If you shot with your setting on the m50 would you recommend using luts but tweaking them down a lot so they don’t destroy the 8bit
