      My lenses:
      Canon EF 18-135
      Canon EF 100mm L IS 2.8 (This is my dream lens and with Viltrox adapter, I can go f 2.0 and the crop at 0.71)
      Sigma EF-M 16MM 1.4

      I shot most of my videos with the m50 & Sigma 18-35. I still feel like that is the best aps-c lens even after all these years.

      Right now I have the kit lens. It's the only ef-m lens I have. I got 2 viltrox adapters the standard one that takes EF and EF-S and the speed booster that only takes EF lenses. Then I have a 50mm. F1.8, a 55-200 EF AF and an 18-55 EF-S which has AF and IS. I feel I'm almost all set. I would love to have an EF-M 55-200 though.

      I just got the M50mkII and it has the kit 15-45mm EFM lens. I am using my Tamron 18-400mm EF with the Viltrox adapter. Works great!! The lens is bigger than the camera. I haven't tried my Tamron SP45mm lens yet. (tried it and it works!!) I am not using it for streaming or TH-cam, will use mostly for photos, so it will work good for me. One day I might buy some more EF-M lenses, but I don't want to take too much space, I also have my Canon 80D and the lenses are great on that camera too. The 18-400mm is a little long and heavy, I will enjoy playing with my 15-45mm a little.
      Great video here, it gives a lot of insight and ideas!!! ^_^ UPDATE..... the adapter works with my Tamron SP 45mm lens :) the Tamron EF lenses focus, but the aperture and ISO doesn't work. I bought the Canon 55-200mm lens, and now I have the Tamron EOS-m 18-200mm lens. The Tamron lens works great!! I had problems at first, but I sent it back to Tamron for a firmware update and it is great now!!

    I started with the M50. i think it was the best decision. it was affordable, was very easy to use. adapting lenses opened up so many options. Ive upgraded to more "professional consumer" cameras, but there are still times that i use the m50 cause its just quicker, simpler, and efficient to use. no color grading, easy to edit files, good autofocus.

    Canon 22mm f/2 lens was the perfect choice for my mentor, for their streaming/home content setup. The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 is the best choice to set your video look apart from most video looks (and for photos), in my opinion . The 15-45mm zoom kit lens is great for a outdoor/vlog rig too.

    • @ryandobal
      @ryandobal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ATXpert I would say no... if you want to be able to zoom, it'll be impossible with this lens because it's something called a prime lens, meaning it can't zoom. It's incredibly useful if you have multiple lenses... but if you only want one lens for all, it seems though the 18-150 EF-M lens is best for you. The link is in the description of this video for that lens. If you want more of a budget option, then the kit lens that comes with the m50 is also totally good enough and you can upgrade down the road.

    I think another solid option (for video at least) is the EFS 18-135 f3.5-5.6 IS STM/USM adapted to a speed booster. You'll have to pull out the little flange cap in the back for it to work and turn out digital IS to enhanced, but the results are pretty good for run and gun video work like documentary or event coverage.

    I use the M50 as my primary camera for my outdoor channel. The 22mm "pancake" works best for me as it is low-profile and still gives me great bokeh and has autofocus for my run-and-gun filming. I do like some of the budget options for studio work, so might pick up one of those soon.

    Sigma trio and the Canon 32 1.4 lens are the best for EF-M mount. For APSC cameras like the M50 Mark II the best lens (and you need an adapter) is the Sigma 18-35. Actually it’s arguably the best lens ever created for consumer cameras.

    I actually use the Canon M200 for streaming with the 15- 45mm lens for streaming usually set at 24mm. You get literally no blurry background but the picture is quality. I use the Neewer 35mm prime for close up shooting for depth perception and a nice blur in the fore or background. And the EF-M 55-200 for distance shots or filming. I'm no pro by any means but these lenses seem to work for a hobby guy like myself.

    It's "bo-ke" (rhymes with 'poke' bowl, 'Poké'mon,)
    In Japanese term the bokeh ぼけ refers to a state of blurring off, dozing off... which appropriately is also similar appearance you want with the background
    So it's not "bo-kah"

      @@darkexpose5153 yes this also the setting that I use and with the 2.0 aperture, you really get a nice blurry background. I would like to use to vlog so I have my microphone attached to the camera. That’s why I preferred to go for the 14-20mm but if you use a lavalier mic or a microphone far from the camera, that you won’t hear anything with the 11-20mm too 👍🏼

    I’ve got a 7Artisans 60mm F2.8 macro that is planned to be used to digitize color slides and (b/w) negative film.
    I also have No-name 500mm F8.0 mirror lens, but it is very hard to focus. Btw it’s used with an adapter (KOWI LMA-TM.C/M).
    I have been using the EOS M and EOS M3 and thought a small step up to the M50 would be my last “investment” for a long time. I especially love the view finder as it’s hard to use the screen in hard sunlight.

    Hi I know this is about the Canon M50 MKII but I have been researching a starter camera for product photography, video ads and vlogging. To this end I liked the look of the Canon M50 because I wanted to use a good base camera to learn. I managed to get an M50 and have been familiarizing myself with my purchase. I have been watching a lot of your content on the best ways to setup and use the Canon M50. However, as a freshman I have a what seems very stupid question. The camera I purchased came with the standard kit lens Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5−6.3 IS STM. I have noticed that on subtle movement the lens sort of has a muted rattle. is this a normal thing or is it a defective lens??? I am still in my period where I can return the product but I want to ask for advice from an expert first. Also with Video ad and product photography in mind what lense option would give my greatest flexibility..kinda one lense for both
    ...if that makes sense?
    Thanks in advance

    Don't forget that Canon has a crop factor of 1.6x, so a 30mm lens is almost a 50mm fullframe equivalent, while 16mm is more than 24mm eq., so not that wide for arms-length vlogging as the kit lens.

    I need 3 lenses for recording a podcast. Typically 1v1 podcast, sometimes table is filled with 4, 2 on each side of a narrow rectangular table, and a third camera for wide angle capturing the whole table. Small space 1/4 of a two car garage. What would your recommendations be? Appreciate the video and your time.

    It's not for everyone but I love the 7artisans 7.5mm fisheye lens. In addition I'm seriously considering the Sigma 16mm 1.4 for its shallow depth of field capability.

    Super helpful video!!🙏 Last year I bought a canon M50 II as my first camera (that wasn't my phone lol). I still use my phone (galaxy s21 ultra) a lot more than this camera because it's just easier to carry (call me lazy lol) and has a higher range, but I def wanna look into more than basic lenses because I think I'll enjoy taking pictures a lot more with more options. Many thanks!! 💜💚❤

      How's the quality on your mark2 camera, compared to your phones camera( s21)? 🤔

    • @Hollyjcat
      @Hollyjcat ปีที่แล้ว

      @@209chefra The lens seem to be pretty solid (70-200mm & 15-45mm), but I feel really limited in range compared to my phone if I'm being honest (0.6x-100x). I do really like that it's touch screen & seems pretty durable (I've taken it out in below zero temps & am kinda clumsy) & there's a filter mode that's really fun to play around with (as well as other modes I'm still figuring out).
      The 55-200 lens I use the most because I really like shooting from farther away, but it doesn't go as far as the 100x on my phone unfortunately BUT the image quality with the camera is really clear comparitively at the zoom level since the shutter speed is a lot faster. I'm saving up for a big boi lens (150-600mm) so that I can take real nice pics of the moon & far away animals & stuff and also a macro lens (28mm) for toys.
      I'm also not very experienced with a DSLR, so there are many settings I probably don't know about but will likely learn as I need them.
      That was a lot, but hopefully it answers your question! ^-^

    I have a question. I’ve been having a my M50 for about a year now and am looking to get some better glass on my camera that isn’t too expensive. Im looking for either an M mount or EF mount lens for canon that’s somewhere in the focal range of 24-70mm or 18-55mm and an aperture of F 2.8 or higher. My price range is anything under like $600 or $700. What do you think a good lens for me is?

    Great video, been looking for a nice round up like this for my new-ish canon m50 Mark ii! What about using the kit lens with an ND filter as a budget option in order to get more of a “boh-kay” shallow depth of field? (That’s how I’d pronounce it)

    • @unclemick-synths
      @unclemick-synths 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would only get shallower depth of field from a ND if the scene is so bright that the camera can't use a fast enough shutter speed for correct exposure at the largest aperture. The issue with the zoom lenses is they don't go large enough on the aperture to get the shallow depth of field you need.

    This is a great video for M50. And it's so weird that such a best seller camera doesn't have good native zoom lenses like 17-50. It's annoying and makes mirrorless cameras pointless (because you'll need an adapter eventually).
