    I invested in a Canon M50 about a year ago. I have tried and tried to get my videos to look good, but always resort to using my iPhone instead! I almost put my Canon on Facebook marketplace because I'm so frustrated with it (mostly frustrated with myself!). I always look so orange...and my whole room looks almost infrared! I watched one video of yours and now about to watch this one. Wish me luck! I'm happy I found you (or the algorithm found you for me!).

      Generally not, but that setup does give some flexibility if you want a bit more contrast or saturation. I think it looks pretty filmic right out of camera, if that’s the look you are going for.

    Thanks for your great videos. I have a M50 mark II and bought the sigma 18-35mm to do video shooting of fitness video. I have played with so many settings and my videos are not sharp at all and blurred. When I pause the quality is terrible. I'm desperate and really feel I bought the wrong set as my iPhone gives me much better video quality. Any suggestions? Thank you

    • @markwiemels
      @markwiemels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's because it's a 1080p camera, so on pure resolution and detail a 4k phone will look sharper. There is not much you can do about that aspect. The R50, with adapter, can use the sigma 18-35, you might be best to sell the M50 and buy the R50.

    • @nauckland
      @nauckland ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markwiemels thanks. When I do face video close from the lens the quality is good in 1080p. Problem comes with full body workout videos about 4m from the lens in AF. The M50 also has 4K but no AF. As I do video of myself on a tripod I rely on AF, would the R50 provide good AF in 4K with no to minor crop? Thanks really appreciate your guidance, I'm a beginner but need to be able to do video myself without professional photographer. Thanks

    • @markwiemels

      Sigma 18-35, I think I mentioned in the video, if using the kit lens the lowest f stop will be 3.5… if I didn’t, then I should have. Just use the lowest number, which is 3.5 on the kit lens.

    First off I wanted to say that I stumbled across your channel in an effort to upgrade my camera and your videos are great! I’ve been binge watching a good majority of them.
    I’m currently shooting video for TH-cam with a Panasonic Lumix LX-10. It’s not a bad camera (well the auto focus sucks) but I’m looking for something to upgrade too. My camera doesn’t have an external mic jack or the ability to add any accessories. Im curious what your thoughts would be? I was looking at the Sony zv-e10, canon m50 (I know it’s a dead system) or possibly an r10 or r7. I was hoping to go cheaper in order to have additional funds for some other upgrades (lighting/ lenses), but could technically afford an r7 with a kit lens. I don’t know if I need to spend that though as my channel is small and was just monetized last month. You have made a lot of compelling arguments for both Sony and canon so I’m literally stuck in the middle.
    I’m glad you’re feeling better and thank you!

    • @markwiemels
      @markwiemels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would get the ZV-E10. If you are doing sit down, talking head videos, I would get the sigma 16mm lens too.

    • @joshbarton
      @joshbarton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markwiemels thanks for replying! I was leaning towards Sony but two things were hindering me:
      1) your video about color grading and using canon profiles to get good results thus saving me time. I think you mentioned in one of your videos too that the Sony colors weren’t good and you used some custom LUTs.
      2) I can get an m50 content creator kit for $300.00 USD. Which is basically 1/3 of the cost for the ZV-E10.

      @markwiemels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use manual video settings to start with, you are using automatic and your aperture in changing. This changes how deep the area focused/sharp area will be. Use the same settings I show you in this video, but try Aperture of f5.6. maybe even up to f8, as long as your ISO does not go too high.
