    Really appreciate your videos. Thank you so much!
    Does filming in log require more data storage? Or do Rec. 709 and clog3 both take similar amounts of storage?
    I’m learning how to use my R6 to get better footage and your videos have been a tremendous help for that. I got a gray card a few days ago and already can’t believe the difference that made.
    Thank you!

      That is one of the best things I can hear, that it helps. Thank you very much for sharing that. To answer your question, not really. Bitrate is the big driver as well as file formats, which you can't set on a R6. So a 4K takes more space than HD etc. The difference in color data is negligible . I had that exact same experience when I got my first grey card :) What are your main concerns atm, anything I can help you with in a future video? I got a few in the making about video.

    great video. So you're exposing "normally" when shooting in clog3 and not 1 stop over to then bring it back in post and avoid noise in the shadows?

    • @persvanstrom
      @persvanstrom  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, in general and thank you 🙏 How do you prefer to do it?

    • @AndresArosemena
      @AndresArosemena 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@persvanstrom I feel if I expose it "normally" I get a lot more noise than if I used rec709. I have seen that the recommendation is to over expose 1 or 2 stops when using clog3 and then bring down the exposure in post, to achieve a similar noise level of the rec709. I have to do some tests

I apologies for that, but it's finally in the way. filmed all 4, so just need to push first through edit and B-roll additions :)

    Thanks so much - very helpful!
    Here’s a newbie question - I have a Canon 90D, which doesn’t have the ability to shoot in C-log, but I’m still tempted to buy a 3D LUT package like the ‘cinematic’ set offered by Pixflow.
    I was thinking that I could shoot footage using your adjusted Neutral settings and then add one of their LUTs in post. I know it will be ‘off’ in some way since the LUT won’t be applied to true C-log footage (which it was designed for) but I’m hoping that it will be fairly close in most cases and that I can make adjustments as needed. Is this misguided in your view?
    I’d also consider getting the EOSHD profile if you think that would be better to use with third-party LUTs than the Neutral setting would be.
    Thanks!

    • @persvanstrom
      @persvanstrom  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You shouldnt buy a clog lut if you don't have that. It will look awful. Instead look for a Rec.709 Lut. That is what standard footage has and what a conversion LUT (clog-709) will create anyway :) If you look at Pixflow they got for example their cinematic package and that is for both log or 709. 709 is what you should use for your camera.

    • @renaissanceshepherd1605
      @renaissanceshepherd1605 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@persvanstrom Thanks for clarifying that - I really appreciate your quick reply. Definitely helpful before making the purchase.
      Yes, I noticed that those LUTs were offered in both C-log and Rec.709, and I was hoping that at least one of them would work in my situation. I haven’t worked with colour grading yet so it’s all still abstract to me, but it’s slowly becoming clear.
