- Hey everyone! In today's challenge video we find out whether you can beat Sonic Adventure 2's Dark Story Without Collecting Any Rings!
With only one story to go, join us next week when we tackle the Last Story to see whether it's possible to beat without collecting rings! Once the Sonic Adventure 2 Project has officially wrapped up, we'll be returning to a few smaller scale challenges; so I'm able to get back into the swing of weekly uploads before tackling our next major adventure!
I just want to take the time to thank you all for your patience over the last month, as this series in particular took a lot of time and energy to bring together! Overall I hope you've enjoyed the series thus far; and I hope it was worth the wait!

I can't wait for Sonic Adventure 1, or Sonic Adventure 2 maybe I can! Can you beat Sonic Robo Blast 2 without collecting a ring? I guess I could always do so in Sonic Adventure DX; or Sonic Adventure 2 battle, Shadow The Hedgehog is my favorite character, especially his battle against Fang the Sniper, like Super Shadow vs Super Sonic, or Super Shadow vs Eggman! Same with Tails and Knuckles, and even Sonic The Hedgehog!!! Sonic... Did you guys read those Sonic Frontiers Leaks? Insane right?! What about Sonic Origins or Sonic Prime? Maybe even the Sonic Movie and Sonic Movie 2, I might do a Sonic Movie 2 Review when it comes out, my favorite port has to be Sonic Adventure 2 battle and I hope we get a Sonic Adventure 3 someday. For sure I'll be doing a Sonic Adventure 2 review, maybe even cover some Sonic Leaks and Sonic discussion... 2:49 "Wait a minute, you're not Sonic. This is impossible!" It's not mentioned because Eggman, in this dark room, realizes it's not Sonic within 10 seconds, and GUN, with news footage showing close ups of Shadow illuminated with spotlights, still mistakes Sonic for Shadow at least twice. It actually fits my narrative that GUN are idiots all too well now that I've thought about it.
My understanding is GUN knows the difference between Sonic and Shadow, but intentionally frames Sonic for Shadow's actions in an attempt to cover up Project Shadow and the massacre aboard the Ark. Much easier than explaining to the populace that something they did 50 years ago finally backfired so hard the planet might be destroyed.
22:19 Why people so stupid? Eggman says that to Shadow, to set the bomb timer at 15 minutes, and Rouge just says, she needs 5 minutes to get the emeralds.
23:28 did you notice that when you died you landed right on the last emerald and it gave you the (!) indicator.
What are the odds.

Think about what you said
You can skip half of Sky Rail, making it a bit easier. At one point when you're on the rail section with the capsules, the rails get close to the later rails that lead you off the top of the island you're heading to. You can just hop onto these later rails from the earlier ones and entirely skip that island. You do miss a checkpoint in the process, but you also skip what you were saying was an awkward section and you don't have to jump down to the ledge on the bottom of the island.
This strategy is very important when playing Sky Rail in 2 player mode. If you don't use it, you're basically going to lose to your opponent if they know about it.
Final Chase is my favorite level in SA2 and yeah the gravitational field of those cylinders is made of spite and pure evil. Even after playing it many times I'm still only half-decent, but I just love going 'round and 'round XD So many cylinders can be cleared just with the gravity + momentum from the endless spinning, and in others it's fun to get the right timing to make a perfect jump, it gives the level a very particular flow. Amazing to see you do it ringless!
I do agree with you on that front! Ngl I've always loved the concept but some of those jumps were just brutal!. XD

As per usual, great content. I actually never noticed that Eggman's physics changed in Weapons Bed despite playing all my time SA2! So thanks for letting me as a viewer know about that! Now if I recall correctly, you said you still needed to unlock some of the stages in SRB2. Correct? Well I suggest going for all the main, non-record attack emblems starting on Greenflower Zone Act 1 to Egg Rock Zone 2, the record attack emblems for all acts of Greenflower Zone (I skipped out on the ring emblem in GFZ2 but for the sake of convenience, let's say this was collected anyway.), Techno Hill 3, Deep Sea 3, and Black Core 1. Then you should go for the non-record attack emblems in emblem unlocked stages, finally, get the heart and spade emblems from Haunted Heights. I assume you've beaten the challenge levels yes? If so, you should have at bare minimum, 97 emblems. I got four more from various special stages giving myself enough to get 100 since I didn't collect the ring emblem from GFZ2.

a thing that it is very unlikely for you to have heard before...... uh.......... I MEAN as for suggestions I think sonic 06 can actually be really fun and there's some very good ways to emulate it + a specific one with some mods that fix some bugs or whatever and it'd be cool to see similar videos like ringless challenges for it and stuff. IT'S NOT LIKE OTHER PEOPLE WILL.

Actually now that I think about it, why hasn't shadow thought of using the emeralds together in the prescence if the master emerald to resurrect Maria?
If you use the Sonic new tricks mod, the gravity cylinders in Final Chase work a lot better because you can spin dash on them to get through them a lot faster and take some nice shortcuts. That mod also just improves Sonic/Shadow's gameplay in general and let's them beat most of the mech stages with the character select mod

25:18 at his point Shadow doesn't have an emerald since 3 are with rouge and he left his on the ark for cannon, so he needs to get close enough to use chaos control as without an emerald his range is limited

In hindsight, Team Dark's teamwork despite their differing motives is basically the Straw Hat Pirates from One Piece in a nutshell. XD the crew barely looks like it can function at all, yet their teamwork has helped them topple many powerful foes time and time again despite their differing dreams.

There's an oversight in the story surrounding the 2nd Prison Island revisit. Eggman has the bomb set for 15 minutes. Rouge takes 5 minutes to find the Chaos Emeralds. Shadow takes 10 minutes for White Jungle. Then Shadow fights Sonic in the first rival fight, so already they should be out of time.
BUT THEN, if you look at Hero Story, Sonic does his Green Forest stage AFTER the rival fight with Shadow, and it has an 8 minute time limit. The island should have exploded a while ago already.
The only way these work out is if you as the player really were much faster at the game than the time limits suggest, taking a total of 7 minutes combined for Rouge's and Shadow's stage.
You're right, I've never thought about it to be honest. Shadows can be explained away relatively easily, since he can use chaos control without the emeralds.
For the hero side I have nothing, they couldn't fit green forest before the encounter thanks to metal harbor.
Just because they have the time limit doesn't mean they _reached_ the time limit. The world records for White Jungle and Green Forest are 1:17 and 1:01 respectively, while for Security Hall the _twelfth_ fastest time is 1:18. Even if we're strict and say that the Sonic vs Shadow fight took 10 minutes, its more than believable that they all got off the island in time.

So - uh - what were those two rings you had while beating Hot Shot ringless? I ain't accusing you of cheating - obviously you can beat Hot Shot ringless, its bloody Hot Shot - but you literally had rings when saying you won without rings and I'm curious if that was meant to be test footage or you just didn't notice the rings.
When I was speaking about hot shots laser attack, I needed b roll to go with what I was referring to. Honestly it completely flew over my head, that I had rings in that footage, my own fault.
In the original run which the script was based on though, I beat him ringless.
It's just one of those occasions where I needed to record footage after the fact, and just didn't notice it.
@@challengerjakku1943 I had a feeling it was probably just a mixup in the footage or something. Still feels nice to have confirmation. After all, of course you can beat bosses ringless as long as you don't spawn on rings. SA2 bosses for the most part are easy full stop.
Especially compared to SA1 XD, but yeah I'll have to pay more attention when recording b roll next time.
Honestly the only bosses i struggled with were king boom boo, and shadow final. The rest were incredibly simple.
