The boostpads launching you super far in mech stages is becouse for some reason the mechs only get a halved launch distance value and so the other characters go flying
You also solved a new mystery in this video. _I didn't know it was possible to cover Sonic adventure 2, and Knuckles, in the same video without using pumpkin hill zone._
There is one,and only one thing that MIGHT make Cosmic Wall possible,but it's quite a stretch.Even though it goes mostly upwards,the part near the end where you get chased by the spike machine goes way down,and I mean WAY down. Because of this the goal ring is reachable as Eggman even from the earliest point you can slip out of bounds,which is quite a lot lower than how high it gets. And you still have extra height to play with. As Knuckles however,there would have to be a hole in the killplanes right in the area of the beginning of the stage that you could slip through without dying(like there is in Final Chase). But even then,I cannot guarantee there would be enough height. Leaning more towards that not being the case. It's the only remotely possible theory I thought up of,at least.I've always found so much fun,and far more replay value from this game by playing stages as character types that aren't supposed to be in it.

Because it sounds like a very fascinating idea since Sonic Unleashed is one of the most top-notch post-Classic Sonic games up to the ranks of Sonic Adventure 1 and before the Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing duology.
Power move idea for a mod: for both Rouge and Knuckles to clear some/most of the stages, have a mod that makes using Teasure Scope/Sunglasses more useful and have hidden springs and such!

The three unlikely allies then launch an attack on the same base Knuckles was held at. Knuckles causes a distraction through an all-out attack on the base itself, while Knuckles steals the remaining Chaos Emeralds and Knuckles plants some explosives all around the island. However, Knuckles gets trapped, and when Knuckles goes to save him, he's interrupted by that fake bat, Rouge. After he punches the defenseless bat a few times, he goes to rescue Knuckles just in time, while he imagines Rouge driving off the highway into the ocean.
You'll be stuck in Tails' section as Shadow because, even if you could make it to the end of the section (which is likely impossible because there are a few dynamites and even then there's a huge gap PLUS dynamites that Shadow probably can't jump across, though I'm likely wrong about that. Even then, dynamites), you won't be able to destroy the door. So... No!

Fun fact, if you spin the thumbstick fast enough...you can perform the uppercut without the use of a full combo. Same rule applies to Rouge's rising kick

As always, wonderful video! So, while Rouge is able is beat the Hero Story by herself, Knuckles isn't able to beat the Dark Story by himself, due to two stages and one boss (or one stage and one boss if you don't count the driving stage).
Been a long time since I saw a challenge run like this! Shame there weren't as many other crazy challenges overcome in this, but still fun! Would love to see more like this from you!
i discovered that if you smash buttons while getting paralyzed with Chaos Control/Charm Ray you reduce your time much quicker and get free in short time
Knuckles can do it all, he’s got so many skills and abilities, a mixture of speed and strength. I don’t know why they don’t make a new Chaotix game just in 3D. Just without the ring pulling mechanics but something similar to the way Tails follows Sonic. Maybe interchangeable like Sonic Heroes.
Interesting thing.....you actually can dig in Sky Rail So far, it's the only base game non-treasure hunting stage I have found that Knuckles can dig in.

I'd say Route 280 is completable by Knuckles. As you said, he *does* have a car, the game just isn't letting him use it. If he was allowed to use the options he does have, it would be no issue, and it's only an arbitrary restriction stopping him.
4:50 I think the reason why jump pads launch Knuckles out of the stage is because they were placed in a way so that Eggman in his mech would make the jump to the next platform, and mechs don’t get as much speed, height, or distance from jump pads, boost pads, or springs as characters not in mechs. Most mech stages don’t have these jump pads in an area without walls or ceilings to halt your momentum if they overshoot, so you simply never encountered them before this particular stage.
I kinda want to see shadow do all sonic stages because you know :.. shadow doesn’t have all the same upgrades as sonic like him lacking the vary important bounce band

Rouge has a significantly harder run, but she can also complete the game all by herself. Meanwhile, Knuckles has a signficiantly easier run, but it's impossible. Still hard to see this as a win for Knux, but it was fun to watch.
It's not the speedrun friend who made the mod. Even if someone could put all the effort into putting knuckles in the car chase we can assume that it is easily possible.
If I had to take a guess, it's possible until Cosmic Walls. (edit: not considering bosses) Iron Gate: you can climb on top and just fly to the end. Sand Ocean: you can fly to the end, very fun to play as Knuckles IMO. Radical Highway: you can literally fly to the end from the beginning of the stage granted you know where to go. Lost Colony: You can pass through the first ceiling and then fly to the big autoscroller. Pretty sure you can also pass through the ceiling, but I forgot. Weapon's Bed, White Jungles & Sky Rail: open area thus possible. Cosmic Walls: you don't jump high enough, thus impossible. It is however very likely possible you can go through a killplane ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, after which you can then fly to the end since, even though the whole stage is upwards, at the final autoscroller at the end there's a huge downslope thing which makes it go far below the spawn point (at about -3,000 on the Y axis). Final Chase: possible because open area. After watching, I was mostly right lol. Neat tech for LC though (:
When Angel Island sends its Echidnas they're not sending their best. They're sending Echidnas with lots of exploits and they're bringing those exploits to Dark Story. They're bringing glide extend. They're bringing stage clipping. They're speedrunners, and some, I assume, are good people.
My main theory as to why the dash pads at the end of Sand Ocean don't work is because they were intended to be used by a mech character, who is heavier than any of the non-mech characters. Because of this, the extra speed programmed into those dash pads to make up for Eggman's heft proves harmful for any other character, because they were never meant to interact.
mech stage launchers sending you absurd distances is because the mechs do in fact weigh a lot more than non mechs. in normal gameplay this is to keep them from getting castlevania'd into pits due to your size but this also makes it so intentional knock back components like the springs send you no distance what so ever. so they compensate by jacking up kncokback levels enough to clear the intended distance. so essentially playing eggman in non eggman levels has springs do nothing for you where as playing non mechs in mechs will send you to orbit.
The reason the dash pads in sand ocean send you way to far is because its meant for heavier characters like eggman and tails so they boost it up so it can match their weight
It occurs because the launchpads and springs are based around character physics too, so even with physics mods around the characters the levels are supposed to be in (like replacing Eggman and Tails's physics with Gamma's from SA1) the trajectory mildly breaks and you can see out of bounds by accident because of if
Im gunna assume eggman and tails are programmed with more weight/gravity, so being lighter may screw with that? Assuming its going off of potential acceleration and jump height? I guess thats easier than programming two separate types of booster?
I think the boost ramps on sand ocean sent you flying because they’re calibrated to Eggman’s weight, which is significantly higher than Knuckle’s thanks to Eggman’s mech.
I imagine the reason the launchpad in the third level launches you as far as it does is because Knuckles is faster than the Eggman mech. The game assumes you're using the slow walker, and adjusts the speed that the launcher launches you by maxing out the speed of the character used. At least, that'd be my theory.
I think the launch pad problem occurs because the mech is really slow and falls fast so they increased the speed of the launch pad to compensate, but this is just a guess

Rouge has a significantly harder run, but she can also complete the game all by herself. Meanwhile, Knuckles has a signficiantly easier run, but it's impossible. Still hard to see this as a win for Knux, but it was fun to watch.

It's not the speedrun friend who made the mod. Even if someone could put all the effort into putting knuckles in the car chase we can assume that it is easily possible.

If I had to take a guess, it's possible until Cosmic Walls. (edit: not considering bosses)
Iron Gate: you can climb on top and just fly to the end.
Sand Ocean: you can fly to the end, very fun to play as Knuckles IMO.
Radical Highway: you can literally fly to the end from the beginning of the stage granted you know where to go.
Lost Colony: You can pass through the first ceiling and then fly to the big autoscroller. Pretty sure you can also pass through the ceiling, but I forgot.
Weapon's Bed, White Jungles & Sky Rail: open area thus possible.
Cosmic Walls: you don't jump high enough, thus impossible. It is however very likely possible you can go through a killplane ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, after which you can then fly to the end since, even though the whole stage is upwards, at the final autoscroller at the end there's a huge downslope thing which makes it go far below the spawn point (at about -3,000 on the Y axis).
Final Chase: possible because open area.

When Angel Island sends its Echidnas they're not sending their best. They're sending Echidnas with lots of exploits and they're bringing those exploits to Dark Story. They're bringing glide extend. They're bringing stage clipping. They're speedrunners, and some, I assume, are good people.

Looks like the gravity in Cosmic Wall does apply to Knuckles in 2 cases:

Oh man, this is taking me back to my teen years.
My main theory as to why the dash pads at the end of Sand Ocean don't work is because they were intended to be used by a mech character, who is heavier than any of the non-mech characters. Because of this, the extra speed programmed into those dash pads to make up for Eggman's heft proves harmful for any other character, because they were never meant to interact.
mech stage launchers sending you absurd distances is because the mechs do in fact weigh a lot more than non mechs. in normal gameplay this is to keep them from getting castlevania'd into pits due to your size but this also makes it so intentional knock back components like the springs send you no distance what so ever. so they compensate by jacking up kncokback levels enough to clear the intended distance. so essentially playing eggman in non eggman levels has springs do nothing for you where as playing non mechs in mechs will send you to orbit.
The reason the dash pads in sand ocean send you way to far is because its meant for heavier characters like eggman and tails so they boost it up so it can match their weight

It occurs because the launchpads and springs are based around character physics too, so even with physics mods around the characters the levels are supposed to be in (like replacing Eggman and Tails's physics with Gamma's from SA1) the trajectory mildly breaks and you can see out of bounds by accident because of if

Im gunna assume eggman and tails are programmed with more weight/gravity, so being lighter may screw with that? Assuming its going off of potential acceleration and jump height? I guess thats easier than programming two separate types of booster?

I think the boost ramps on sand ocean sent you flying because they’re calibrated to Eggman’s weight, which is significantly higher than Knuckle’s thanks to Eggman’s mech.
So... what about Sonic, Shadow, Tails, and Eggman? What if they had to go through the same challenge to?
I imagine the reason the launchpad in the third level launches you as far as it does is because Knuckles is faster than the Eggman mech. The game assumes you're using the slow walker, and adjusts the speed that the launcher launches you by maxing out the speed of the character used. At least, that'd be my theory.
The launchpads probably work off of the character weight, so the lighter weight of Knuckles compared to Eggman would launch him super far

I think the launch pad problem occurs because the mech is really slow and falls fast so they increased the speed of the launch pad to compensate, but this is just a guess
