I love it for just off the greens. Definitely much harder to chunk than a wedge or short iron, but also definitely not for every shot around the greens. I game one, but I also have a few other wedges.
Already carry a full bag and can’t see dedicating a chipper instead of my wedges. For short bump and runs from the fringe I just choke up on my 3 hybrid and swing like a putter - similar experience.
You're special. Most players aren't special and need a little help. This thing is great. If you shoot 85 plus, you're losing many of those shots near the green. The Texas wedge WILL get you below 85
You could definitely still use a lower lofted iron, I just feel like this chipper didn’t get the leading edge stuck in the ground. Given I won’t actually be putting it in my bag, I thought it was an interesting comparison
I've been a user of cleveland smartsole 4 chipper since it was released and i can use it from 110 yards and below... I used to score 120to130 per game due to chunks, thin and shanks... but it went down to 100to105 when i bought the chipper.. When i learned how to use it 30,50,70 yards to 110 yards i can now score 85to88... Very useful club... The cleveland smartsole 4 chipper has 42 degree of loft, so i removed my 9i and pw, since my 9i has 40 deg, pw has 44...
For some reason I never use my 5 iron I’m always either a 6 or a 4 iron away I might take the 5 iron out for the Cleveland chipper. Another thought is to take out the 3 wood as my 3 hybrid goes a mile and straighter
What are your thoughts on chipper clubs? 👇

I have a Cleveland smart sole chipper in my bag and love it,,, it's even good in the sand...
Legal game changers! Four strokes off my score on avg.
I have 1 love it I’ve hit it from 15 yrds and great outta the bunker

Thanks to you I will never look at my Vokey's the same way again. LOL
Haha
Great video you should go in your dads bag more 😂, I love my chipper have you bought one yet or just kept your dads👍🏌️♂️
I have a similar club, and I absolutely love it!
Would you not be aswell off to use a 9i? My SIM2 MAX 9 Iron loft is 39 degrees and the Odyssey X-Act Chipper loft is 37 degrees.

@@thatgolfgrind definitely good for mid to high handicappers though. Good shout and great content!

..so 110yds with an upright club using a putting stroke, how is that possible?
Is it legal to have a putter grip on a chipper
No its not, its on the usga rules
@@amir3992 wow , I didnt know that. Thats interesting
i have fat putting grips on all wedges. 5 years now and the USGA has not said a word …
If you've got space in the bag fair enough but I'm not taking clubs out to put a chipper in
I agree, it was definitely interesting and surprising to try out though

@@coreyvanular I can virtually guarantee that you will save more shots with that chipper than you ever would with a 3 wood.
Just got the Cleveland smart sole c wedge arguably the best chipper ever made , LFG😂
