I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis about three years ago. My pains are very much concentrated on my fingers and entire arms. Most of the time I rely on pain medication which rarely takes my pain away. This morning i was desperately looking for pain relief for my painful fingers when i saw your video. I watched and exercised following your techniques and was able to feel relieved for the first time. I will be following you thank you very much.

Good exercises to get them moving. But the best way is first or overnight to wear a 100% wool or other natural fiber like mohair, alpaca or angora, hand or wrist warmer, glove or mitt. This will warm up your hands and increase circulation to alleviate pain and increase the capcity for movement. Wool works well as long as it is not superwash or has any synthetic. Mohair is 4 x warmer than wool, alpaca is 6x warmer and angora is 8x warmer than wool . But it must be 100% with no synthetic or nylon. If you have difficulty wearing wool make sure it is merino under 21 microns. Angora is the best because it has amazing thermal properties that increase circulation and is well known for alleviating pain. Thermal means it is hollow and the air in the hollow fiber is what contributes to the warmth. The other natural fibers have insulating capacity meaning air is trapped between the fibers. But angora has both making it the warmest fiber on the planet. It works wonders on arthritis, carpal tunnel and neuropathy . So if you knit and can make your own find some natural or even handspun natural fiber yarn to make them . And don't ever let your fingers get cold .

I have osteathritis in a first beginning stage, so its not developed so bad yet. I have found out a couple of great excersices and tips below that helped me tremendously, especially point 2. has been a miracle excercise for me.
    1. soak hands in warm water (not so hot as it burns, but still more hot than lurk warm). Keep them submerged for 3-5 minutes.
    2. Now this one I haven't really heard about or read anywhere, but I figure it out myself where I was just massaging my fingers. I was kinda mindblown at the result. So, anyway here it is: Pull and squeeze each finger from the root to tip in such a fashion that can feel the blood being squeezed into the finger. it's important to do this very slowly and gently, do not squeeze too hard or pull to fast/hard (dont wanna tear your joints or anything else apart!!). Also be very careful not to twist the finger, must pull in straight direction and not either left or right but straigth away from the hand. This significantly reduces or even get rid of stiffness and finger joint pain, almost immediately and over time. It also feels incredibly nice for some reason, sometimes I get the goosebumbs on my arms or back as I feel the blood being squeezed into the finger.
    3. squeeze a soft rubber ball now and then. This trains the muscles in your hands which will over time help support you joints causing them to wear down slower. Be mindful to not overdo it with repetiveness as this what causes osteoathritis in the first place.
    4. Lift weights. But be very careful how you grip the weights as to not twist, turn or otherwise stress the joints fingers incorrectly with the weights. But just like with the rubber ball this will build muscles, also in the hand/fingers.
    5. Generally be very mindful on how you handle objects with your fingers. A wrong motion, grip, twist, pull etc may cause further damage to your already vulnerable joints. And sadly some damage can never fully recover if it was too extensive, or you were unlucky.
    6. consider using alternatives to mouse and keyboard as the extreme repetitiveness daily for years and decades is a major culprit for osteoathritis.
    7. Take daily supplements of fishoil; make sure to use products that are certified free from toxins, as fatty fish almost always contains very poisonous fat-soluble toxins such as dioxin and mercury etc. These toxins can easily be 100% removed through refinement by the producers of the product, but some do not do this properly because it allows them to save a little bit on the process earning them a slightly higher profit. So avoid those products, you may need to do some research. Also I take double the fish oil dosis we use in my country, but your country may have different dosis set, so dont just take double. But personally I do not believe there can be any harm in eating too much fish oil unless you got into some kind of extreme amount.
    8. Generally eat healthily, lots of vegetables, no sugar, cut down on fat. Avoid all candy, cakes, chocolate etc.
    9. Exercise at least 30 minute moderate intensity every day. And twice per week at least 20 min high intensity.
Note that for 2. and 3. there may be hand/finger injuries where these excersises could instead actually cause damage. So you have the full responsibility to take care of yourself. It is impossible for me to guarantee if my information would not work for you or even cause harm. This depends on your specific condition, the way you do it and on the specific kind of condition/injury/athritis your hands has. So make sure to seek professional health advice and care from a authorized specialist first, and let them help and instruct you in the care and treatment for you.
That being said these 5 points has completely removed the finger and finger joint pain and stiffness for me. I cant still pain in the joints if I grip and object the wrong way or apply too much pressure to fingers in certain positions, so I have learned the situation and certain ways to use my fingers to not cause stress to worsen the wear down. But apart from that I can use my hand fingers almost normally like anyone else. I also box (on a punchingbag) with boxing gloves on, and have no problems with any pain from that at all as long as I use proper technique.

I had a fracture on my ring finger last year and I really didn't try to work on it or get therapy as I fell in a chronic depression. I couldn't do tattoos or play guitar due to that and now I finally decided to do therapy so I did your routines for days and it's my first time seeing the PIP joints of two of my fingers actually improve a looooot. Thank you so much for your work! I'll forever be grateful for you 😭🥺

Thank you so much, Michelle for making these videos. The past couple of weeks my thumb has not had good movement (after fracturing my wrist five times, including thumb joint, in a bike wreck almost a year ago and two surgeries). I did these exercises and can now move my thumb again with much more fluid movement. I think the one behind the back really helped. I am extremely active and love yoga etc, so having a part of me not able to move has been distressing, as I'm sure all of the people getting help from you can relate. Thank you for giving me hope with this! I also agree with everyone that I love your gentle personality and how you explain these.

Greetings from France 🥰💞. Just found your video but wasn't what I was looking for. Beading and knitting videos what I wanted🤣🤣. With severe aggressions, broken wrists and fingers, nothing seemed to move freely. Abandoned my piano and guitar😢. Knitting Crochet and Beading give me severe pain in my wrists and fingers. Conclusion Arthritis. I've been moving my fingers in all directions hoping to be able to knit peacefully. Wow😮 when I watched your video and did my exercises along with you, I felt an easiness to bend my deformed fingers. Within 2 minutes I FELT RELIEVED OF À BURDEN, STIFF FINGERS were elastic. My two thumbs were completely broken from finger tip to wrist and these precious exercises have helped me immensely. With tears of joy I say a big THANK YOU for your help and bringing sunshine into my dark heart. 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🤗🤗🤗

Same. I wish my poor mother could've seen this when she was still here. Bad arthritis in her hands. It's great that you are on TH-cam. In her time this would have required individual instruction at a Drs. office. I filled plastic coke bottles with sand to make exercise dumbbells for her to use while sitting. The weight was perfect for the strength level and the fat grip didn't hurt and actually helped exercise hands too. Cost was zero.

This is wonderful. I need this to help my sore joints. I also have trigger fingers to deal with, so this helps a great deal. Felt good to do these exercises. Thank you. :)

My right hand - the fingers bent and got stuck part way closing. In messing around I realized that if I adjusted my neck - sort of up and back - it released my stuck claw fingers. Works like a charm. Try it. Looking for the root cause is a successful way to go.
Also - I was limping and I thought it was planter facia. But I kept watching videos and messing around. I finally realized my hip was the problem. I put my right leg on a chair and then with my arm pushed my hip forward. Works like a charm. Could have been my ankle, my knee, my back - but it was my hip. The foot problem was referral pain. Not the root cause.
Just love fixing the root cause.
My poor unfortunate friend instead had his fingers operated on. Scar tissue…. Oh Well!!!
