  • Upcycled patchwork quilt coat diy - you know you want to make one!
    This is the step by step tutorial on how to turn a quilt into a coat.
    I was lucky enough to find a quilt used, and I just knew I was going to turn it into a coat. So fashionable and so cool. Hopefully it will inspire you and show you how to do it. I used an old broken raincoat as a pattern, but you can also trace around a coat or robe.
    I love mine, so get your hands on an old quilt (or make one from scratch) to make your own. The perfect #scracpbuster.

    Your free-form way of sewing really resonates with me... thank you so very much for not apologizing for keeping true to the way you sew! Oh, I also LOVE the jacket!

    as someone who is very new to sewing and hasn't made one clothing item I feel like you made this seem so doable for me. only wish it had pockets...cause I never know where to put my hands and rely on pockets for that job 😂

      Yes, pockets are awesome! and I try to add more pockets in my garments from now on - they are very important!

    Really enjoyed watching you put this together. Quilts, being used again for coats, jackets is so great. I laughed a few times,in how you were so its ok with this or that,much how I stitch as well. Looks fabulous and beautiful on you. Thank you.👌😊💕

    I’m sorry, but I gotta ask. Are you from Denmark? You give me the craziest Danish vibes lol😂. Thx for sharing this video. I’m going to try to put a coat together myself. Never done that before, so I need some help.

    It's absolutely beautiful. I hope you're enjoying it. This bedding to garment... quilted coat is home-made? Not so much hand-made, correct?

    Yes, I want to make one lol. Very inspiring. Don't want to cut up clothing, is there a way without a pattern.

    Love it! Did you only serge stitch without the knife? Thanks - so helpful with my upcycled quilt vest project :)

      Thank you ! I dont think the knife can be removed from my serger, so I always sew with the knife on :)

    I think you made a mistake . I was watching you cut the back higher up on the border of the quilt edge and the two front pieces you even the pattern up with the bottom edge of the quilt. I’m confused won’t the front be too short

      I think it is just my style, some will think it is a mistake, but it seems to work ok for me :)

    Why didnt you use a walking foot

    • @karolineskandimamadiy
      @karolineskandimamadiy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so bad at changing the feet, so always just stick with the same one :D

    • @schisandra
      @schisandra 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pfaff machines have an even feed feature, so a walking foot isn’t necessary (or so I’ve heard).

    So sad, it’s looks like a lovely quilt. Why cut up a perfectly good quilts?

      I have worked in recycling and seen many good things get thrown away and just go to landfill. That it always a shame. Reusing discarded things in new ways is much better, than risking them going to waste, in my opinion. On this channel upcycling is a lot of what I do, so I find joy in changing things, that are perfectly good as they are - but just not wanted by the owners anymore. Then I make them perfectly good in a new way.

      Why is a quilt better than a coat? It's beautiful as a coat.

    So sad you had to destroy such a large quilt to make a coat!

    • @JannieMette

      I think reusing materials for new projects is amazing. We throw so many things out and I think that is very sad 😊

      I think it's fabulous! A quilt keeps you warm and so does a coat.
