    I am looking forward to see you at Road to California. I love your kits for all of your garments. I want to get your kit for the quilted jacket. What a wonderful idea to quilt fabric then make a garment. Your tutorials are great and easy to follow. I hope you will do more. It would be great if you sell the cones of Madera thread at Road to California.

      Hi Nancy, Thank you so much and we are looking forward to the Road to California Show. Two weeks - the first for the new ISAF Sewing/Home Dec show and the second week for the traditional Road Quilt Show. We will try our best to stock the booth as you hope! I really appreciate you taking the time to let us know! Have a wonderful week!

      Thank you Trina - I truly love this jacket and have plans to make several more for myself and a few of my friends. The pattern doesn't have to fit "Perfect" to be a great gifted jacket! Be well - Diane

    I have seen reviews in which this jacket is reversible-bound on the inside. It’s nice to see someone do it without all of that.

    • @sewbatikfabric
      @sewbatikfabric  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cynthia - It's funny that you say that because my first instinct was to construct a reversible jacket. With the quilted fabric - it seems logical. My goal is to review the pattern as written and add additional ideas or possibilities at the end or in future tutorials. Thank you for watching and sharing!! Diane

      @@sewbatikfabric You know, Diane, I just got my pattern and haven’t read through it. I saw some (perhaps not-very-carefully-watched) tutorials, and assumed that both versions were in the pattern. It is a lot of work to bind everything, but-especially with your beautiful fabrics!-it could be really fun to make it reversible!

    Diane, this is so beautiful! All your garments come out beautifully and your instructions are so clear. Now which pattern???? OMG Any chance of ordering the fabric pre-quilted? That would be so wonderful to purchase a kit with pre-quilted canvas. Thank you!

      We finally have the prequilted canvas and cotton items on our website. The items are custom - so you pick the fabric, batting, and we take care of the washing and quilting!

    • @sewbatikfabric
      @sewbatikfabric  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thank you! Quilted Jersey Knit - or non quilted Jersey Knit. I have quilted a jersey knit and it’s a heavy warm quilt if both sides are Knit. The jacket would need to be larger and not super fitted to stay comfortable.
      Non quilted knit - sure absolutely!

  • @monicapowell2054

    Do you have to add extra fabric at the seams if you are doing your own quilting of each pattern piece. I love your jacket and description.

    • @sewbatikfabric
      @sewbatikfabric  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I understand your question correctly - you are asking if you should plan for additional fabric when quilting each piece individually? The yardage on the pattern is sufficient for quilting the fabric prior to cutting out your pattern pieces. I don't recommend cutting the pattern pieces from the fabric and batting prior to quilting the fabric. Fabric will shrink "in" while quilting.

    Perhaps it is possible to put in side pockets using same cloth.

    • @sewbatikfabric
      @sewbatikfabric  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I completely agree - and love side pockets, more so than front pockets of any style. I find them more functional. The yardage used for the front pockets can definitely be transfered to a side seam pocket. Should I put together a tutorial with this information?

    Did you get 5 yards of 2” strips from 1 fat quarter, I believe that’s what you said!? Thanks

    • @sewbatikfabric
      @sewbatikfabric  ปีที่แล้ว

      18" square will yield approx. 4 yards of bias binding. 22" square will yield approx. 5.9 yards of bias binding. ( I hope I estimated this correctly. ) I think I will make a quick guide for bias binding of the most common binding widths.

    Did you serge it before you sewed the pieces together ?

    • @sewbatikfabric
      @sewbatikfabric  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Caroline, I serged the sleeves directly onto the body of the jacket. I serged the sides of the back/front before sewing the side seam on my traditional sewing machine. I wanted the sides to be open to allow the curved hem to lay flat. Thank you for asking!
