Thanks so much!
You Rock! Beautiful coat!
Thanks, Emilia! It’s one of my favorite creations. Hopefully another quilt coat is coming soon - thanks for watching! ❤️Angela
I just came across your videos. I have been in a rut and boy have you inspired me! I love the laughter and how creative you are. It really makes me want to go out there and look in the thrift stores and hunt... thank you so much for your videos and your happiness. Keep it going and inspiring!
Oh, thanks for the encouragement. 🥰 I’ll meet you at the thrift store!!
I have spent hours and hours and hours, etc......trying to find a Lady Lancaster pattern (which obviously is not available, duh.) But you have captured one of them amazingly well! I actually never thought of trying to develop my own pattern because I NEED exact instructions. The lapel is what I also prefer. So just in case you might like to offer a pattern on let's say Etsy - I would not complain. In fact, I would buy it. But regardless, thanks for the inspiration. Your sewing, quilting, crafting, design space is wonderful. Really enjoyed this video!!
I LOVE Lady Lancaster coats! Have you seen the skirts? Amazing!
I don’t really have a written pattern, cause it changes every time I make one. I know you said you need exact instructions, but I would ask, why not try it? By using an old quilt or blanket that no one uses, you could experiment and see what happens. Trace the shape of a coat you already own that you like. What do you have to lose? Be brave, be bold! I hope you try it. ☺️
@@ArtfullySew Now that I have seen Lady Lancaster coats, none of the other patterns interest me. The skirts are stunning! The one you made with the lapel is so similar to the one I love most in her line. It's called the Aunt Ethel. You can turn it upside and wear it that way as well for a different look. It is longer since the lapel is at the bottom unfolded. She demonstrates that in videos that accompany each jacket. I might make a mock up first because I actually have several heirloom Mennonite hand quilted gems that I might want to make into a jacket. I used to display them, but they have faded. I really hate storing them. But I also quilt so I just might try my hand at improv like you have done. The chenille is such a great touch. And I really like the raw edges instead of the meticulous piecing! I actually think my mother had a set of sheets like you used for the lining! I am trying to relax and let the creative juices flow. I do a lot of fabric collage which has been a welcome deviation from traditional quilting. Thanks again for the encouragement. I'm looking forward to trying my hand with your approach. You calmly let things develop. You make changes if you aren't satisfied. It looked like so much fun. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
This is just so fun and beautiful. You have a great eye for fabric placement. I love it!
Awh, thanks Susan. ☺️
I love all the details you put in this gorgeous jacket. Very inspiring! ❤️
You are super talented! I love your creativity❤️
Thank you so much!☺️
Yesss I’ve been waiting for a new video 😁
Angela, you are awesomely inspiring and goofy too! I love your style and your sense of self. I love to sew but have lots of 'blocks' to creativity. Your videos have offered me permission to open my soul and let out whatever is in there! Thank you and keep on searching for wonderful hidden gems and making them into what they truly can be.
From Angela to another Angela, thanks so much for your encouraging comments! They really brighten my day. We are kindred spirits, you and I. ☺️
Just beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely love your process!!! You’re super fun personality. Who wouldn’t love you???

Very cool 😀
It’s gorgeous
Thank you!☺️
Actually, this is really fabulous. I don't say this very often, but I WANT IT! It's really cheerful and cute.
Well, that’s the best compliment! I am rather tickled at the way it turned out. That’s what I love about these kinds of projects. I have a small idea in the beginning, and then I just keep experimenting and come out with a treasure. You too can do it - just keep sewing!☺️
Eu gosto muito de seu trabalho eu qero ver todos os seus trabalhos
Hey, @Angela of Artfully Sew 👋🏼 I’m so glad your video popped up today. There are many things I loved about this. Thank you for sharing your tips-so many great ones-and your thought process. Love your sense of humour. You are adorable! 😁
Your coat is gorgeous! Love the grouped chenille strips and shawl collar. I like how the bottom of the collar slants up. while watching, I thought perhaps tapering it toward the hem would have solved your dilemma. It’s reminiscent of Cary Grant in a tuxedo. 💕Now I’m showing my age. I’d also like to make a cropped or bomber jacket in that style. Thanks for the reveal. Perfect! Re the possibility of a buttoned front… you could add a hidden strip with 3 buttonholes. Sew a button on both inside edges of the front lining-1 on the left & 2 on the right. When the jacket isn’t buttoned, the strip would rotate back toward the side seam and buttoned to the 2nd button, so it’s hidden. Just a thought…
I’m now subscribed to your channel, and shared it with a group of my quilty TH-cam friends. I look forward to watching both past and future videos. I’m going to binge-watch your playlists while I sew.
Sorry…what started as a brief note of appreciation has apparently evolved into a dissertation of sorts!
‘Mawage….’ 😂🤣😂
Thank you, and Stay well!

Love the zipper flower! Yes, please post a video, if you haven’t already done so. This will be a fabulous gift to make for an upcoming quilting retreat with my aforementioned friends! Checking your playlist now!
Hi Pat! Sorry for the late reply. You are super duper sweet! Thanks for all the nice words of encouragement. I do regret not adding the buttons to the front of the jacket. When I wear it, I’m always adjusting it because it shifts around and doesn’t stay flat. I love your idea of a hidden strip. If I do that, I will credit you in the video! Tell all your Quilty TH-cam friends hello for me. And thanks for watching!💕
Coming soon! Really! Almost done….
Fabulous!!!
Absolutely love this coat!! Beautiful❤ I'm going to attempt to make myself something similar. Thank you for inspiring me. I just found you and love your energy, and your hair it's gorgeous.
Thanks so much! I'd long to see your finished coat! Send me pics on Instagram!

Awesome! Thank you!
i love this jacket so much!
That coat is adorable!!!
Thanks- it’s probably my favorite thing I’ve upcycled so far!
Very cute.
Thank you! 😊
Hi. I just found you today. I started with the quilt coat with hoodie for your daughter. At first I thought you were just being silly. However I watched the entire video and you are so talented and imaginative. This quilt coat is another level in style. Fabulous. I love the insert to yourself from the future!! Anyway, I subscribed and can't wait to go back further in your videos for some other upcycles. Hugs to you and your daughter.
Thanks so much, Karen! I do have a good time making these little things. I’ll take those hugs and give them to my daughter, Nora as well. Thanks for watching!
I love it!!
Awh, thanks! One of my faves!
Awesome!!!❤
Thanks 🤗
The jacket turned out gorgeous! You never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity! In fact you inspired me with your last thrift store quilt, so I went hunting for one. I couldn’t find one so I decided to make my own. I’m a long time quilter so making and quilting the fabric was a breeze. I made a zip up the front with a hood. I even lined it. My first lining experience. It really turned out cute! I was intrigued with those cuffs on your coat. Would you consider doing a video on how you did the cuffs! It along with your chenille and binding really amped up the coat. Plus the cute way you cut the hem line! Wow, you are so talented! I’m going to join your Instagram and Facebook group!! Thanks again!
Wow, what a pleasure to hear your story about your coat! When/If I do this pattern again I can show the process of making the cuffs. Can't wait to see you in Facebook Land. Thanks for watching!
So nice. Would love the zipper flower tutorial
Coming soon! ❤️

Thank you. I was given boxes of zippers so I can try my hand at this
Very inspiring! 😊 💜
No, YOU are inspiring. Love you!!
Thanks for Sharing this tutorial. I'm currently working on a reversible quilted maxi coat that I decided to make a hoodie for 🤪 which is a whole ordeal. And instead of putting 4 pockets {2 on both sides} I'm going to make 2 side pockets instead because I don't want to lose any of the piecing it took 4ever to decide on placement & color.
AnyWayZ it's nice to see someone take you through the Real process, { Including Mistakes Made' instead of editing them out🤗} & showing how you worked through them & came up with solutions...
This is totally me working through my coat.
Hopefully it turns out ok... So far so good 👍🏾
Love the colors, pattern & fit of your coat...
Absolutely GORGEOUS 🤗❤🤗
Thanks Catherine! So glad to hear you appreciate sharing the mistakes - sometimes tempting to edit them out. But then it wouldn’t show the whole process, just like you said. If you decide to post photos of your finished coat on social media, please tag “Artfully Sew” so I can see it. It sounds Wonderful.
Yes I would love to see how to make the zipper pins please
Great timing! I just loaded the video a few weeks ago - Vintage Zippers Remade into Flower Pins | Upcycled Zipper Flower Brooch | DIY Sewing Tutorial How To

Just found you! I love you already!
Yay! Thank you!
Hi Babbra. Love your videos. The dogtooth check would make a lovely draped dress or top, worn over a vest or slip. I too have some of the brown material, I'm going to make a half lined flowy skirt. Your cotton fabrics are super, are you going to make your signature shirt out of some? Your channel is good and honest, and the videos are a perfect lengh. I also think that it would have been good to go
fabric shopping with you. The sewing content is great , maybe a cleare background would help. Much love. Carole
Thanks for the feedback, Carole and thanks for watching. 😊
Because you are a daring quilter, you need a better riper-outer. I use an x-acto knife with a number11 blade. It's very sharp but easy to handle.
Thanks for the tip, Theresa! I will have to try that.💕
So inspired I’m nearly bursting ✂️✂️😀😀. Would love a zipper lower tutorial … cheers from Australia 🌅

Was the collar lapel thing one long strait rectangle? I’m wondering how to make one so it lays nicely behind the neck.
Again. You are terrific! Bravo!
Hi Lori, yes it was one long rectangle. Thanks so much for the encouragement! I'm glad you appreciate my quirky humor. ☺️💕

Angela, In watching this video I spot a sewing chair beside Ms. Woodwire, I have one also that I found thrifting. Do you know the history of these chairs? Thanks in advance.
Hi Virginia, I got mine at a thrift store too!Not sure of the history, but it sure is my style. I’m guessing from the 1960’s. Does yours open for storage, kinda like a piano bench like mine?
Love the zipper button. ?????
Video of how to make zipper buttons coming next week!💕

What pattern did you use to make the jacket please. I want to make one from a cutter quilt!
Hi Julie - for the pattern I used the pieces from the thrift store coat (see the beginning of the video). I don't really use actual patterns very much, just trace clothes i already own. ☺️
Hi just found you what color wheel did you use please thx.
