    After using a benzylperoxide cream for months without a problem I suddenly got an allergic reaction. It was in the morning and my whole face looked like it was burned. It did calm down after a couple of hours but yeah patch test first guys!

      You can't become allergic to any benzoyl peroxide.... peroxide breaks down on the skin into water and oxygen so unless you're allergic to water or oxygen you can't be allergic... Now companies like to improve on their products so you're probably allergic to an additive or the concentration is too high

    I just got the Panoxyl 10% and it is wonderful. I have extremely sensitive skin but it doesn't irritate my skin and I literally noticed a difference in thebsize of my acne overnight. I can't use niacinimide or salicylic acid, I break out in a rash and get itchy immediately.

      Same, i also get itchy & breakouts when i use niacinamide & salicylic acid which is saaaad :( i recently tried the CeraVe SA cleanser & it broke me out sooo bad. I gave time like for a month and a half thinking it might just be a purging but it got a lot worse. So i stopped. Im now on a hunt for a good cleanser.

    Not mentioned in this video, but I’ve been using the Replenix Benzoyl Peroxide wash a few times a week. My derm very strongly recommended not using the Panoxyl which got me researching the heck out of these washes. It seems most of them use pretty harsh surfactants that can really irritate acne prone skin. I’ve been using the replenix 5% but they also make a stronger 10% with aloe. Cheers!

    • @methuenboy25
      @methuenboy25 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CathyonSkincare yeah I have been enjoying the Replenix so far. I’m mostly using it as a supplement to my anti-acne products, which at the time being are from Curology. I’m using a Tretinoin-Clindamycin-Alaleic treatment from them, and I’ve read that Clindamycin can lead to bacterial resistance. I’m using BP about twice a week in the morning to make sure that doesn’t happen. Before, I was using Differin gel and pretty much doing the same thing, differin about 5 nights and week and BP about 2 mornings a week. But anyways my derm recommended me this website (CosDNA) which has been very helpful in monitoring the ingredients in my products. :)

    This is an older video, but: I've tried panoxyl 10% benzoyl peroxide and after a couple months of using it, I got a horrible super red rash on my cheeks. And when I tell you it itched and stung and burned like heck, I mean it. It lasted 7 days and I constantly had to splash water on it or keep an ice pack to my face. I was on vacation at the time and not in my home state and so didn't seek medical attention(just some internet help lol). That was in August and it's now June and it happened again. Stopped panoxyl after that first reaction and started using a Burts bees gentle cleanser w no problems. But since I haven't been using an acne face wash, my acne was acting up. So my mom bought me some Differin 5% benzoyl peroxide face wash. Used it about a month and boom same reaction. Currently typing this holding ice to my face verrrrry early in the morning cause I can't sleep. So, friendly bit of advice: maybe don't use benzoyl peroxide. or you could get allergy tested for it or don't use it all the time or something. It's just not worth it. And also, you might not show signs of a reaction after first using it, for me it took a month or 2 of using it with out problems for it to buildup and then cause a reaction.

And it's the cheapest... And I pair it with benzoyl peroxide face lotion it cleared my acne up in 2 weeks and I've been acne free for a year now...

    In your video about closed comedones you say that BP and salicylic acid is a great combination. I guess the best method is using them at different times during the day/alternating days?

    • @CathyonSkincare
      @CathyonSkincare  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes!! They are great overall together especially if you have a mix of inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne since they work differently, but I wouldn’t recommend layering them one directly after the other. This is general advice of course because it’s possible your skin can tolerate it and/or you’re using gentler derivatives like in the cosrx bha power liquid. I’ve decided to give more cautious advice as my channel has grown because I’d hate for one of you guys to have a really bad experience and end up with an extremely impaired skin barrier because that isn’t a fun time!

    You mentioned not to use benzoyl peroxide and salacylic acid combined. Then you talked about the La-roche product that has the ingredients benzoyl peroxide and LHA which you mentioned is a derived of salicylic acid. Why is it ok to use the LA Roche Posay effaclar even though it has the 2 ingredients you mentioned (at the end of your video) not to use?

    • @zabrinazita

      In cases like this, product formulation plays a huge role. Why they advice this is mixing different formula which may cause irritation for the person. However if you already use it and it works for you then that is ok.

My skin tone has improved so much and my pores are barely visible, I don't get irritation or redness, but I still get pimples regularly (4-5 per week sometime even more). I started to think my acne was better regulated before when I used benzol peroxide gel, but I hear and read everywhere that Adapeline is the most effective treatment. I'm confused, I don't know if I should quit Differin and continue with Benzol Peroxide or continue with Differin for a few more months and hope for change. Thank you in advance for your help.

      @jchen4601 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I am NOT a dermatologist or a qualified skin specialist, but here’s what i know from researching via TH-cam. 1) more percentage of anything doesn’t mean more effective. The ordinary niacinamide contain 10% of niacinamide, which in your case, your skin wasn’t able to tolerate it well or you use too much of it everyday that cause ur skin to be worse, therefore I suggest u to buy some other skincare product that contain 2-5% niacinamide 2) Allergic Reaction- u may have an allergic reaction to niacinamide, zinc, or some other ingredients in the product even if u use it for 2 weeks or longer. so from my unprofessional kind of opinion, go to a dermatologist and get professional treated for your acne.
      Yeah that’s what I got so far! Hope that help! 😉

    I went to a dermatologist and they told me that I shouldn’t use any benzoyl peroxide

    I am using the cerave benzoyl cleanser but i want to try the paulas choice 2% bha. Is it okay or should i not do them together in one routine? Anyone please help. Thanks.

      It might be overexfoliating, but it depends on what your skin could tolerate. I would use the bp cleanser in morning and bha at night, or every other night if you have more sensitive skin

      Hey! I think you should look into a salicylic acid cleanser instead first 💜

    I just wanted to ask if cosrx and cerave is suitable for 15 years old and does it get rid of bumps?
    these is the list that I'm planning to buy;
    cosrx mucin 96 essence
    cosrx full fit propolis synergy
    cosrx blackhead liquid
    cetaphil cleanser
    cerave moisturizing lotion
    cerave pm facial moisturizer
    is this okay? and is this mild? please, I hope you'll respond

      and also I wanted to ask if should I switch cetaphil cleanser to cerave sa cleanser? btw, have a nice day!

      This looks great to start with! If you get the sa cleanser you might not need the blackhead liquid. Remember to introduce each slowly and patch test 💜
