  • I'm so happy that a lot of you found my previous video for benzoyl peroxide helpful 🥳 but since there were so many comments regarding the side effects, I decided to film yet another video. Here I focused mainly on HOW TO use benzoyl peroxide for acne.. I show you all the steps that I follow to get rid of the acne and to maintain clean skin and I also share with you all the products that I use and love. I tried to add as much as helpful information as I could without making it too long. However if I have missed some important information or if you have any questions or concerns let me know in the comments below, I reply to all the comments.
    - I tried to avoid repeating the same things I said in the other video, so if you haven't seen it here's a link • BENZOYL PEROXIDE Expla... 🥰
    - I've got a separate video on how to get rid of the dark spots/hyperpigmentation caused by acne: • HYPERPIGMENTATION (Dar...

    This video took weeks of researching, planning, filming and editing, so it will be nice to know if it was helpful. Please make sure to give a thumbs up 👍🏼

      I stopped using toners years ago and my skin is better than ever so I’m not the right person to ask regarding toners lol I would say it’s best not to use it at all.
      technically it depends on how bad your acne is.. if you can maintain clean skin with using BP only at night then there’s no need to apply it in the mornings as well. My acne was super stubborn so I used to apply twice a day, after few years I stopped using it in the mornings.

    ive been using BP after my moisturizer just to reduce the side effects of drying skin. Although ik it takes out the effectiveness but is it a big deal?? i like to put on a hydrating essence for extra hydration, niaciminide, and cream then wait 15minuts till dry then BP every night. is this fine or should i change my skin routine?

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey, so if this works for you there're no need to change it. If you notice in the future that it's not effective then try applying the moisturiser after the BP.
      Regarding the niaciminide, as far as I know you're not supposed to mix it with benzoyl peroxide. However, you can use them in one day - for example niaciminide in the morning and bp in the evening.

      Probably few weeks after you stop using it your skin won’t be sensitive. But if you stop using BP the acne will be back .. so just use sun protection when you’re outdoors. Sunscreen is good to be used even if you’re not using benzoyl peroxide.

    I currently use tretinoin 0.015%. It irritated my skin, then it worked and now it’s stopped working!! So confused!
    So i did some research about Bp.
    I managed to only get my hands on the 5% gel.

      Yeh, 2.5% BP is difficult to find but don’t worry, 5% should be okay.. just moisturize more, the dryness only lasts about a month.
      Unfortunately I don’t have video on tretinoin :(

For example, my T zone is acne prone so shall I put BP there as a part of my daily skincare?

      Hi, applying BP only the spots simply doesn’t work in my opinion, so yes it’s better to apply it on your T-zone since that’s where you get pimples. Do you get them on the nose though? If you don’t get any on the nose apply it only on the forehead and chin (because the nose tends to peel/gets red more so if you don’t get pimples there don’t apply it there).
      Also make sure to start using it slowly.. and increase the amount after few weeks as I explained in the video to reduce the side effects. Goodluck! 🍀🤞🏼

    Hello sis
    Please I’d need your advice as I’m just starting the routine. I’m thinking of getting salicylic acid and applying it in the morning after using Nitrogena ultra gentle cleanser and there after use the simple light hydrating moisturiser and at night, use BP 5% with same cleanser and moisturiser.
    What do you think?

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It sounds good 👌🏼 but it might be too irritating because both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide tend to dry the skin. Maybe first start with benzoyl peroxide only at night and after a month or two you can add salicylic acids into your morning routine.

      Did you start with applying only a pea size of it, only at night? If you feel that using it every other night is still too irritating for you maybe try using it only 2, 3 times a week for now. Also you can try another brand BP, there're so many, maybe this particular brand BP irritates your skin more.

      As I explained in the video there're two ways to start using benzoyl peroxide in order to reduce the side effects: 1. To apply it for some time, then wash it and apply moisturiser 2. Apply a pea size of BP only once a day (don't wash it) and after 15 min apply moisturiser; Then you can increase the amount every week and applying it twice a day. Please watch the video again.. that has been explain in details there.

      The BP face wash isn't as effective as the gel.. if you only get 1, 2 pimples once in a while maybe the face wash would be enough to keep the acne away but if you have mild/severe acne it's better to use the gel.

    i wash my face , apply benzoyl peroxide 2.5 for 15 min on my almost all skin and wash it after 15 min and the apply adaplene gel and after 5 min a non oily mosturizer and after that neotrogena ultra sheer sunscreen and at night same
    after almost 20 days , actually if 1 pimple is cured at same time i have pimple in other 2 places
    so now i have changed it a litttle:
    the day routine is same
    at night i wash my face and apply benzoyl peroxide and go to sleep without washing it and in morning at first i washmy face and apply adaplene gel and mosturizer and after 2 3 hour i wash my face and then start the morning routine

    My doctor just prescribed me Duac Once Daily gel with clindamycin and anhydrous benzoyl peroxide and I've only used it for a couple days. I've been using the method of applying for an hour or two in the even first.
    I am struggling to put moisturiser on even though I have really dry skin and use the CeraVe moisturiser, I have waited for it to sink in before putting moisturiser even for about 20-30 minutes but when I do the BP unsettles and splits showing a kind of white substance.

    Can I use Sunscreen after using this in the morning?? I'm using this from about 3 months should I go for 5% BP???????

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, you should apply sunscreen when you go outside because it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun, which means that it could get sunburned more easily.
      If you're using 2.5% BP now there's no need to increase the percentage. You can keep using what you're using.

    Should i use moisturiser for dry skin for a long time or can i change it after a month??to moisterizer for oily skin

      Whatever you feel is best. I used very very rich moisturiser for very dry skin for the first 3 months of BP (because my skin was super dry) and it worked great! Once my skin got used to BP, it wasn't that dry, so that moisturiser felt too heavy and greasy so I switched to a moisturiser for normal skin.

      You shouldn't mix benzoyl peroxide with Vitamin C.

      Hi, benzoyl peroxide is for acne only, it won’t help with acne marks and scars.

    My derma told me not to leave my bp gel on my face overnight. I usually leave it for about 2 hours then i wash it off and apply my moisturizer. The areas where i put my bp gel is so itchy, is there anything we can do about it?

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, so BP unfortunately dries the skin when you first start using it. In order to reduce the dryness, some skin professionals recommend that you only apply it for few hours and then wash it off. Others recommend to apply it overnight BUT start with a pea-size and slowly increase the amount in the following weeks. It's up to you which method you choose to follow.
      Although some irritation and dryness in the beginning is normal, it shouldn't be painful or too much. Few ways to reduce the irritation - 1. as I said start by applying a pea-size and slowly increase the amount. 2. Applying good moisturiser can really help! Look for a rich moisturiser for DRY skin. 3. Also observe your skin, if it gets too red, stop applying BP for a day or two, then start again. You just need to introduce it your skin slowly .. once your skin gets used to it, the side effects will drastically improve. 4. We are often told to apply BP all over the face, but that's not needed. Apply it only on the areas where you get pimples.
      Good luck ☘️ and finger crossed! Don't give up, the treatment works.

      I recommend buying an epiduo gel(benzoyl+adaphelene) as only benzoyl peroxide might leave stubborn spots on your face

    We break out in the same exact places 😂 I started using benzoyl peroxide only at night about 5 days ago and so far I think it's helping my pimples. I also switched to Cetaphil face cleanser and I use cera ve moisturizer 😁 I also never go outside 😂 so I don't use a sunscreen😬

      Same. I had almost no acne as a teen, but now in my late 20's my face is full of them specially my cheeks and forehead. Its been 3 days since I started and I actually do see some improvements already. The tiny whiteheads on my jaw aren't red anymore and are little smaller in size. Hopefully they all clear up soon.

      Yes, you can. But why do you want to apply two products that do the same thing?
