Hey mate love the video, car and review! Couple questions, how does the car feel with the bigger offset and 35s over stock and do you have any scrub or tyre bottom out anywhere on the guard when you jump it? Thanks mate! Keep up the good work

Thank you. With this set it feels just as good as factory. They are only 10.5” wide tyres so no rubbing at all. I also have the 40mm lift to take the 35” tall tyres

    • @joeldstirling

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's a big enough brake rotor and the pistons are big enough that you get similar pad surface area using 4 piston as you would with 6 smaller pistons. The tires are the weak point in the braking system, not the calipers.
The rear of pickup trucks that don't have a lot of weight in the bed unloads a lot during hard braking too, which makes it easier to lock up the rear wheels. You have to go all the way up to an F250 to get two piston rear calipers and they can have a loaded weight of 5.2t vs 3.1t for the Ranger Raptor.

I am looking at these Ranger Raptor videos from here in the USA anxiously awaiting there arrival here. As I am planning on selling my heavily modified 2 door jeep Rubicon to get one of these spring of 2024. Some think I am crazy, but my 2020 jeep keeps going in the shop for warranty issues (latest is engine blew up at 30k miles), and I would rather sell it before the warranty runs out. That said these longer term reviews are more of interest to me because of the problems/recalls I have had with my Jeep. I am curious though.. your bumpers look custom, are they? And one of the things I will require on a new truck is a front winch, as I live in interior Alaska and having solid recovery options is important for any off road and in winter on road sometimes. Do you have a front winch installed? And I know this video is 2 months old, so hopefully you might see this to be able to answer.

The best thing they could do is increase the towing capacity to 3.5T ....I love the exterior look of the Raptor but went for the Wildtrack instead due to the 3.5T tow rating. It turned out pretty awesome with a stack of ARB gear on and the heated seats are great on a cold morning.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@johninnz Pre-runners aren't really intended to be towing too much. The softer suspension limits payload which limits tow rating. The F150 Raptor is only rated to tow 3.7 metric tons. To be honest, 3.5t is a lot of trailer for any of the mini-trucks. The standard F150 can be configured to have a tow rating of 6,000 kg which is more than I would want to put behind a half ton. I have towed 6350 kg/14000 lbs (30' enclosed car hauler on a conventional class 5 hitch) for thousands of miles behind a Ram 2500 diesel and would not go with a smaller tow vehicle at that weight.

This new Raptor looks absolutely amazing! I have seen a video from another Raptor owner and I think he may have just been unlucky with his, because he ran into differential issues due to low differential oil levels from factory. He, as well as a few other people, have stated that when they let the vehicle idle in drive, the idle becomes rough. I was just wondering if you have encountered any issues like this with yours?

Couple of major, medium, and minor things i do not like so far from my Raptor.
Major - Drive settings do not have memory function. You turn off the car and all settings go back to normal.
Major - Driver electric seats do not come with memory function. I'll have to see if i can retrofit the modules into the Raptor from a regular Ranger.
Medium - Seat material is cheap looking. Would have loved leather.
Medium - Collision system does not stay off when being turned off in the settings after turning off vehicle. Twice so far it has scared me because the system automatically stomping the brakes. I drive in a city with lots of traffic. It's normal to be in bumper to bumper traffic.
Minor - Sound system, being branded as B&O is mediocre.
Minor - You have to turn the steering wheel a lot to get the wheels turning. Could just be a truck problem.

one thing you should have mentioned is that which i have found very dangerous is the lack of a physical butten on the steering wheel to answer or reject a phone call.
eg: you need to take your eyes off the road to answer a call and to end the call.

The kids loved asking my 2020 FX4 all kinds of facts and things while we travelled. it's only minor, but not having that button talk to the phone is strange. You can still access calls through this, but yea, just something i noticed.

Matrix headlights are terrible to have behind or coming towards you. A constant flickering of lights in your mirrors is not an improvement. People just need to learn to dip their lights when other cars are in sight. It's not difficult, but it seems that people dont actually want to be in control of their vehicle.
When did everyone decide that they wanted to just be a passenger behind the steering wheel?

    • @joeldstirling

On long straight roads I'm sure they work ok, but as soon as you throw corners and dips and crests into the mix they just constantly adjust and create their own wee light show. Luckily those are also the roads that most people are completely hopeless on so it's not hard to get a bit of distance on them.

The ranger raptor will never get a V8 engine in it in Australia or NZ, that is for the yank pickups.
And the led headlights in the ranger higher spec models will never be comparable to any LED matrix headlights in any european made car. You are also lying about the LED lightbar and spot lights thing the ranger raptor has auto high beam dipping there is no manufacturer or aftermarket LED driving/spotlights that make a wiring harness to suit LED matrix headlights with auto high beam dipping.

      2. Yes they do work with the spot lights there are two wires at the top of the radiator that you use to power your lights. When the auto high beams turn off this also turns off your lights bars. So yes this works.
      3. Yes we can get the V8 in N.Z and AU CTB already does this and they come with the Ford Warranty too. This cost an extra $40,000 NZD

Still think V6 diesel should be an option. Not every one can AFFORD 20lt per 100 KL.

Yea that would be nice but instead they have put a 2.0L diesel into it again.

    Questions:
1.- is the off road traction control any good? or it relies solely on the locking diffs?
2.- thoughts on 35 inch tires?
I'm getting mine next month! but Im having seconds thoughts on waiting for the new Prado...but its too far ahead!

There was another video were someone put 35's on stock suspension and he said you do get a bit of rubbing on the front so you have to trim the plastic piece a bit

This is my 3rd Raptor with the very same 35” x 10.5” wide tyres. They are amazing both on the road and off the road. I have the full review of the build in my other videos.
This Raptor will take you anywhere. If you know how to use the tech and what settings to use I don’t see how you can get stuck.
If you do go 35” I would suggest not putting the 12.5” wide tyres on but instead go with the 10.5” as they perform much better on raptors

Dude, you get 380 out of it? You must be absolutely flogging it. I get around 550 out of mine and I have a relatively heavy foot.
