- RIP ALL OTHER UTES?! Ford has just dropped the LUXURY RANGER! But it's not all good...
Welcome to the Ford Ranger Platinum - the most expensive version of the Ranger, that finally introduces key features like cooled seats! But there are some imporant changes too, like Ford's new rack system which is mind-blowingly useful. But, it's not all great - this thing has a compromised drive which we will discuss in today's review!

Love your content buddy. I agree, Melbourne weather has been ordinary, but hey, four seasons in one day and all that lol.
Exactly LOL - and thank you!
I have no android auto issues in my wildtrak. I use it wireless and never skips and sounds great.
I’ve seen one of these on the road recently and always wanted to see a review on it! Great video
Thank you!
not at that cost my old triton an MN was only 26K diesel dual cab 4WD. NOT as flash or powerful but the cost and reliability has been superb for eight years.
Unfortunately in some countries, Ford's aftersales is very lacking and is it's MAIN achilles heel.
The roof rail rack combo is a really good idea.
2:43 thought you were going to say "now its a super spoiler" haha
The 2019 Wildtrak had adjustable thigh support. I was very disappointed when my 2021 model didn’t have it, along with a few other things like
Wildtrak scuff plates and lights on the visor mirrors. Unfortunate that you have to get the Platinum model with the premium price tag to benefit from a feature that was standard on a lower spec Ranger years ago.
Looks like they've gotten rid of the three prong outlet which my 2017 XLT has at back of centre console.
I'd like to see a track version of the Raptor, with lower ride height, sporty recaro seats, tuned suspension & more power from the V6 petrol engine.
Does it go faster when you swap the sports sail plane to the supra style spoiler?
Little disappointed you didnt test this and did not drive the whole video with it in supra style spoiler mode.
That adjustable bar should become the norm on everything Ute
Two downsides. The drawbar can be easily stolen in only a few seconds. It rattles, both when not having a trailer attached and with. Forget the bolt underneath as it is far too much of a faff to adjust it.

Hooohohoho
First. Winning 😁
Love your reviews. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Great review as always. ;) Would greatly appreciate it if you could review the 2023 Amarok 2.0 bi-turbo style as the more affordable option to the v6.
Looser
Thigh angle for the seat base used to be standard on even the Limited trim in 2014. Not fitted to my 2023 Wildtrak!
Does the tonneau cover keep out water?
I got rid of a 2022 Ranger as the electronic glitches really started to do my head in.
after doing 10K KM's the forward camera failed, then the active cruise control and lane assist stopped, then spurious tyre pressure drop outs...... Hope they fixed the problems in the this version?
cant wait to see wildtrack X review
As a DIY detailer, I'm really sad to see those swirl marks(tailgate part), especially on a brand new car 🥲. Good review though
Love your show, you're the 3rd Ausi car reviewer I'm watching 😅😊
But your mic 🎙️ needs adjusting or an upgrade...
love this
Needed coils at the back for a softer ride and better articulation
Absolutely beautiful Ute
Good luck competition
Great review! Does the platinum have keyless entry??
Yes
@@CodPoacher I’ve got one in the UK, I can’t see how it works?
Do you have a keyfob? Use the button to unlock
The center cupholders for the rear seat just needs to be pull to the side to unlock it.
Was it not always marked 4x4? Now it is marked 4WD. Is there a difference or is 4WD an Australian thing/name for it?
If you don’t mind me asking, what sort of camera and mount were you using on your chest?
DJI Action 2 and Chest Mount from GoPro - but I always wonder what would happen if the airbag goes off 🫣
@@CarSauce that’s a very interesting question 😂
@@CarSauce you got yourself another sub!
The rear seat center console needs to pull down to release (not out or up). Actually good if you have young kids who mess with things 🙂
Agreed, very underrated feature in my opinion. I feel like all the reviews I've seen think it is some sort of unsolvable puzzle
At the rear for the cup holders its a push and pull sequence 🙈
If it had a sunroof I would get one..
Load limits on those fancy horizontal roof bars?
Does the tail gate actually seal out the dust? Every Ute I have come across doesn't actually seal. So on a dirt road dust is sucked in over everything you have in the tub.
This should be part of any UTE review but he did not even take it of a tarmac road.
Just wondering if ford offer a 17inch wheel at no charge for this model, any one know?
I don't think they'll offer it for that model. Unless on the Wildtrak X. They come with 17 inch wheels as standard.
To argue the price point though, if you get the wildtrak v6 you still have to add tow bar and roof racks, brings the price a fair bit closer
Towbar standard on wildtrak mate.
My wireless android Auto in our next gen ranger is flawless
I like it... Nice!
Do a platium vs wildtrak video please 🙏🏻
Should have brought the panoramic sunroof like all other platinum models.
Can you do one for the ford ranger raptor?
Is this the XLT?
Is that the same 3 ltr that kept blowing up in the landrovers
And not Ford Territories or Ford F150s in the Us is been fixed.
9:42 You're 5'11" and you say there is plenty of room in the back. Sorry, but I disagree completely, that looked very tight and cramped. Then factor that there are people taller than you which pushes the drivers seat back further and the room in the back disappears
Is the engine of this car a timing belt or a timing chain?
man, those swirl marks at the start hurt my soul 0:05
As an American and obsessed with Australia and their cultures and cars, it still amazes me that the Ford F-150 is now being ported to the Australian market! I hope Australians will enjoy our Ford F-150 that is now as part of the Australian market (right hand drive)! I know this video is about the Ford Ranger which we also have but had to say something about the Ford F-150 coming to Australia
I would like thank USA for the F150 being shipped here to Australia to be converted into RHD to be sold locally. We are all excited about this as we take on RAM and Silverado head on. Also, a hybrid Tundra isn’t far either.
P.S. - I’m working with Ford Australia and directly involved in this project.
@@winnie1983 with the Ford Falcon dead in Australia, can you ask them to port it over to the US market? Because our last US market Falcon was in the 1960’s unfortunately. With the popularity of SUVs and Trucks now, they might come up with a pickup or suv version of the Falcon. Full-size pickup about the size of our American trucks than the usual Australian Ute.
spoken to so many americans that wanted our commodore ute with the LS3 engine absolute perfect car they said for so many of them.
$83000 is what I was quoted for the Wildtrack oh with no delivery time, so what’s the real, price on the Platinum?
V6 Wildtrak with a premium pack is going to be 80-81k depending on an ABN. Ranger Platinum is 84-85k depending on ABN. Shocking someone has. Quoted you 83k on a Wildtrak. I’ve got some arriving early next year if you are in Victoria and interested.
@@silentwind9941 I’m in QLD happy to consider thank you 🙏
I may be interested, where in Vic are you located ?@@silentwind9941
@@silentwind9941 you have some v6 wildtracks arriving?
Finally!!!
🤣
83000 for a ute that costs ford less than 20 to make and that's after tax. We need to fight to reduce these ridiculous prices
on road cost /out the door $54500 us $ we pay that or more for tacoma , gladiator ,colorado Zr2 and we get a 2024 ranger raptor same price the dealer will mark them up to$65-$75 k us dollars plus our on road or tax and lic fees no diesels in the us
im must get getting old or weird but i find the drls in these new rangers so big on the road they are really distracting when they are driving in the opposite direction :/
The paint work at 4min 😅
Cars grille looks like "Sydney Sloth" from the ice age movie.
you need to pull the center armrest ribbon down and not straight/up
nice
hope the raptor gets more features 😅
Ford rear center 01, CarSauce 00. 😅 10:02
$69k in 2018 is $83k in 2023
Stimulate they did 😂
Competition GWM Cannon X and F150
Do you guys not get the F150 ? That's a tiny little truck. Ladies truck in USA
While a huge amount of Australian can't afford the rent now on housing and live in the bush or streets others have money to burn subsidized by the tax department to buy the now insane prices of imported vehicles .
I’ll wait for at least 3 years for reliability for the new rangers.
Very……cool 😂
VW seats and VW steering wheel. This has the same level of finish give or take as the Amarok Style.
Do you know if the seatbelts are heated?
It’s a premium product and you compare with a wild track ,what a dribbler
Ford is top !!
At that price point, this ute should have extended the wheel length and extended the tub just like Ssangyong Musso has done.
I test drove this UTE eight weeks ago. I bought the Toyota Hilux Rocco 4x4 much better value IMHO.
No where near the safety standards toyota have rushed the Hilux through before it had to be upgraded to meet the 2020 testing.
Interestingly the aventure is more expensive and doesn’t have cooled seats 🤔
where's Jacob???
the back seat arm rest. you are meant to pull down not straight out......
Which to go for? Ranger Platinum OR VW Aventura?
Can buy 2 equally good GWM Cannons for that price...
@@CathodeRayNipplez that ranger was made in 3rd world thailand and if you are willing to pay double for the same materials, that makes you a fool.
@@CathodeRayNipplezGWM is actually quite good for the price you pay for . Has more spec
This guys at the bottom when it comes to car reviews, chasing cars is better haha
Where’s the sunroof!? Hardly luxury.
Even on a Bentley a sunroof is optional and personally it’s something I would never want in any car.
No sunroof..
I would concider it $14-16k too expensive
Never seen someone so out of touch with the market and get excited about 15yo innovation known as putting a gas strut on your tailgate.
Lol
Gmc canyon blows this away
Just what we need more little angry men with height issues driving cars built for Texas roads. The only 4wd 'tradies' 😂 will do is to the Maccas drive thru.
Rip individual freedom of choices of vehicle. Government sucks
I have one on order.. but will not take delivery has the Ford Ranger has way too many issues that Ford know about and do nothing! Gearbox/Diff/Tail shaft/Electronics so many problems. Do your research people before buying!
except the raptor
Why would you pay a price tag on a vehicle that delivers an open boot, let’s face it that ute will never see mud , a work site ( unless your the boss…..even then?), tools ( work tools not the ones that work on the third floor as an executive) the tools you use for work like a hammer or a …….anyway 2 high and 4 high does not refer to your ute being to high or being two times to high , a diff lock does not come with an anti theft device, the maxtrax permanently pinned to your un modified vehicle hilarious ( I’ve see plenty).
Yes I own a ute , purpose built for my trade as a plumber, I use the 4wd maybe 3 times a month on work sites , camping or a wood fire run, I don’t run massive tyres or a lift, good quality all terrain tyres ,I can’t justify the constant noise of big tyres on a vehicle that sees mud 3% of the drive. This bizarre need for a ute that some people have is astonishing , get an suv with the same engine or see a doctor who can prescribe an anti inflammatory for your ego.
Nice... But no fun when visits to the worksop/ dealership becomes more often than necessary. Want a ute! ... Get a DMax, Hilux or Triton.
I’d hope the paint is just crappy because this is a press car. Scratches everywhere. No adjustable air in the back seats, it blows me away how much you give up to get a Ute instead of a wagon like Everest
I'll stay with my f150 hybrid lariat more towing, more room cheaper price. Ooh and more power and better fuel economy.
I’m a little mad. I’ve got a Zimbabwean spec and Ford skimped on some features. Like some commenters have said, there’s arguably a couple of features that have gotten worse.
Traded up from a 2016 (facelift) to a 2023 for context.
But it's still a Ford. Good chance of a recall
Cool, Australian ranger gives more functional features..
Rip to 83.000
How much? Tell them they're dreaming.
Not premium at all riddled with niggles issues and unreliability, don't believe me ask anyone who owns one, typical shoddy slapdash ford build quality, will only last 12-18months before numerous breakdowns and trips to the dealer for warranty issues, stick to Toyota
I was waiting for someone to say this lol
Fords are so shit
I’d put money on all the negative comments are from Hilux owners who have never seen this vehicle.
@@diver4818 I am actually not a Hilux owner but do own Toyotas so u could say there is bias there but I really don’t care what people think. Now I won’t say Toyota is the greatest car in the world because it’s not. But the issues which the new generation Ford Ranger owners have reported themselves is alarming. Now to cut them some slack, yes it is a new generation but even then, it’s still a bit disappointing. No doubt, the Ranger is a gorgeous car and it’s leaps ahead of Toyota in terms of technology and stuff like that. But for someone who wants no nonsense longevity, Toyota is probably going to match that expectation better. The truth is just the truth. If these issues are fixed though, Toyota is done until they release the next generation. Time will tell.
Typical TOYOTA owner
Your doing a video on a new car and there’s mud on the side of the door
WHAT THE 😡
$83,000 for a ute 🤪
This price and vehicle size increase can't go on forever. Ultimately vehicles (like everything in life) will top out and descend to a more sensible sustainable level.
Not much really considering we used to pay over nearly 100k for a POS Holden commodore v8 in 2015
And a ranger ute is in a different class to others
Like comparing a amg mercedes with normal passenger cars
@@letsseeif Keep dreaming.
love your reviews, but mate the centre arm rest. For someone who claims to have spent ages in the car, you have to pull downward!!! I cringe every time you try to open it like an ape :'(
Seats underthigh surport is not great.
Don"t get so exvited its just a Ford
Yeah right...not everyone can afford the sticker price on this Ute. That's why LDV and Ssangyong are crushing new sales in Australia. RIP all other Ute's, demonstrates you don't understand the market at all bro 🤔
