As someone who has owned the f150 raptor, the bronco raptor, and now the ranger raptor, you are spot on. It's the absolute best value and is awesome offroad and on!
Beautiful truck! So nice to watch a video by someone who loves their vehicle and is proud to display it's features. Congratulations again on this purchase.....
Great video! I am purchasing a Raptor the same color and just waiting while it's "in-transit" so doing more searching to see what other's say and came on yours. Really enjoyed it and going to see what other videos you put together (hope you put more out there when you start adding more accessories!) 😊 Looks sharp!!
Right on! Great choice of colors! I have made a hand full of videos with different things I have done to the truck, some lights and a tonneau cover and a few other odds and ends
Very comprehensive walkthrough of the truck, thank you. Great details and level-headed impressions. I just got mine a few days ago and like you, I like it more every day.
Thanks so much for the comment and I’m glad you are loving your truck. I took mine out to the local trail with my kids today and they had a blast rolling through the trails at about 5-10 mph in the bed of the truck haha.
Picked up my Ranger Raptor this weekend off the dealer lot, love it so far. I traded in my Explorer ST and loved that one but do miss the cooled seats, even in Alaska. My carplay has already done the won't play thing you mentioned. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to driving it more. Will be great here in Alaska once the snow and cold hit in a few months.
the goods outweigh the bads 100%. i loved my explorer ST as well but this truck is so freaking awesome! i think the explorer was one of the greatest family vehicles you could have on the curvy back roads but this truck does so well offroad and handles pretty well on the tarmac as well. It's a bummer that the Sync is such an issue but apparently it is a lot of apple carplay things across all of the manufacturers
Just letting you know none of the Aussie raptors seem to have that problem with the seats. I’ve seen a couple 2022 models and the seats are still perfect
I've owned mostly bmw sedans; 3 series, 5 series and a lexus sport-- with the exception of an suv, nissan murano early on. I kind of hated trucks for what they were; bulky and gas guzzling. However, when it rains or storms with the like of hurricane, ( I live in Florida) I always felt compromised and a bit timid in the road. I recently trade in my car to a full size Raptor and boy...it' the best vehicle I've driven or own and would never go back to driving anything else.
that is awesome to hear. I do love my old BMW's but this truck is so much more fun to drive all around and i sit up higher in traffic. it is great! Ford has come a long way over the past 20 years
I just watched your review tonight. I was intrigued by your praise of the truck with such an impressive list of past vehicles. I wanted to offer a solution for your seats. Try a heat gun approximately 4-6 inches away from leather and more toward the direction of the wrinkle you are attempting to remove. You should be able to touch the leather with bare hand, so be careful to move slowly but not linger in one spot.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will give that a try for sure. I had this truck in the summer heat in DC to the point where the seats were extremely hot to the touch and it didn't tighten up the leather at all but i will give it a shot to see what happens. It cant hurt. Cheers.
Congratulations on your new truck! @fladerdoopin quick question im struggling to find part for the amber markers for this truck which one did you install?
also coming up on 2k miles. traded in a 2016 focus rs (135k miles daily driver) and a 2010 tundra rockwarrior. owned 2005 mustang GT and 2 focus svt's with superchargers,. have to say the RR is a joy. I'm 75 now. don't need all the track stuff on the RS. way quieter than the RS on the road.
Love My Maverick with the 2.0 it already feels like a quick little truck and with 27 mpg driving like a race car it's pretty fun haha think a 300 hp tune in a 3600 lb truck would be rad! just wish I got the tremor for the front bumper clearance Offroad, I got the 4k tow package to tow my samurai rock crawler to the trail
@@SuzukiAnthony that sounds pretty awesome. Ford just announced their tune for the ranger raptor here in the US. Adds about 50 hp and 100 ftlb torque! I’ll be throwing my money at them as soon as they will take it! Gonna turn my truck into a rocket ship! your maverick sounds awesome and i didn’t realize much room or how comfortable they were inside… nice trucks for sure
Finding this review is timely. I just got home from my Ford dealer and am considering buying the Ranger Raptor. I also appreciate the little things you’ve found that you wish were better. And I’m not sure what’s going on with the lane centering and one-time glitch on the adaptive cruise control………..I currently drive a ‘22 F-150 Off Road and both of those features work perfectly on my truck. I admit that the wrinkled seat would bother me and I’m going to see if this is something that others are experiencing. Other than that, I think this Ranger Raptor is absolutely fantastic.
I am currently at 4400 miles and love it more and more every day. The seat isn’t getting any worse but I do still plan to keep on the dealer to get them to replace or fix it. Have had no more issues with the adaptive cruise control so that was hopefully a 1 time thing. I would t trade this truck in for anything like I mentioned in the video. Cheers!
I will probably won’t happen until next year unless I can get 600 more miles on it by early summer. I read they recommend no towing until 1200 Mile mark?
Like I mentioned in your other video, just picked mine up on Monday! So far so good! Mine is very similar to yours, minus the graphics package and so far I am happy with the purchase!! Looking now at getting the sub!!! Appreciate all your content.....it has been super helpful!!
yeah man... right on. I'm super happy that more and more of these are getting out on the road. If you need any help or more detailed video on the subwoofer install please reach out. I'd be happy to lend a virtual hand
@@flaberdoopin that would be amazing…..I’ve watched your other videos on the sub….but will take a look again. My main uncertainties are around the wiring harness at the actual sub and getting that all put together correctly and wired up.
@@waveplantskiabsolutely! I am happy to put together a super detailed video on the actual wiring when you are ready if the one I posted doesn’t quite make it clear enough
@@flaberdoopin Alright I am going to pick up the sub this weekend as it is on sale. So if I understand correctly, you cut the connector that was going into the factory sub, and then spliced that connector onto the cabling for the new sub. That then connects to the existing amp, and then you just run power to the battery and that should be all? Thanks again for your help and all your content!!
@@waveplantski that is just about it. the power wires going to the old sub become the new high level input levels for the new powered sub. then just run power wire to the battery and then ground to one of the brackets on that back wall of your truck and you are good to go. Make sure to switch all of the settings per the instructions since you are using load level input for turn on instead of a 12 volt source. I'm pretty sure i went through the settings in the video i did about the sub but if not please feel free to reach out to me and i'll go out and do another quick video explaining it. you can email me at flaberdoopin@gmail.com if that is easier but i also check my youtube comments pretty often
I think the best bet for rear AC just like on the bronco is having it come out as the face from the front and angling some of the front vents to the back. It works.
@@anthonypanepinto9685 yeah, it would have been nice. I plan to go back to the dealer that i bought the truck from to discuss this becasue my local dealer is not helpful at all
Hi! Great review man, I’m in Mexico and here we got the Thailand version, no options no packages, no extras it is what it is, watching your review the differences i can see are: no window in the back to open, no tailgate assist to open, no amber reflectors on the front fenders, no b-lock capable wheels, no trailer towing. In the other hand we have air vents in the back, handle to get in in driver seat, bedliner, the back light in the tailgate handle, and most important, a little more power, i think the Aussie version have a little more power than the Thailand
Wow, there are so many differences. I really wish I had the rear seat vents! I love the powertrain in this truck though. It’s awesome! Thanks for the comment and all the information. Cheers.
I think if you live where a full size truck isn’t a hindrance, the full size would be ideal, more room inside, more power, sits taller, more history with the platform and so on. I love my Ranger but it is the little brother.
I was in the same boat and went with the full-size. I don’t regret it one bit. Only down side is it’s a wide truck so it does take some forethought when parking and if you commute on narrow roads
@stephenohara6298 yes. The orginal 6.2 V8 was in the first gen. It was underpowered. Some after markets put the 5.0L in the raptor as well. That's when ford decided to put the 5.2L inside
It's harder for the ACC to detect stopped vehicles. This is because they have a filter that ignores stopped vehicles as this can cause phantom braking for vehicles on the shoulder or in a different lane.
Interesting. I was just surprised that it started braking then cut the brakes and hit the gas when it was getting closer. I totally understand that isn’t the point of the system but it still caught me off guard! Thanks for the comment! I learn so much from everyone on here, I love it
I got this color because it was what was available, it is growing on me but I do like the red and different gray colors. All of the colors are pretty awesome actually so I’d have been happy with any of them
I'm having trouble finding the video where you talk about about the adaptive cruise and other driver assist features. Do you mind pointing me to that? Thanks
th-cam.com/video/0V7cvm0Dm6w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4y-V1oxt9h6Pd0Xz around the 22 minute mark. That is the one I remember and I just did one of the truck in stop and go traffic today in the rain
Bro that’s funny af “kids always leave shii-…. Stuff back there” tell me about it I understand that cussing maybe isn’t the best when reviewing cars but it makes it funnier at least
In Australia I have the Ranger XLT (2023 model) and the lane assist does the same thing. It pulls you into the centre of the road, closer to the vehicles on the other side. I'm not sure if the US is the same but we have to turn the lane assist off every time we stop/start the truck. When I first got it once you turned it off, it stayed off until you reactivated it. But due to safety ratings (ANCAP in Australia) to maintain their 5 star safety rating it had to reset back to ON every time you turned the truck off, through a software update. It's not a big deal, just means I have to turn it off every time I start the truck.
thats pretty crazy... i figured the engineers weren't just doing this stuff to piss us off, it is almost always a governmental regulation that causes these little quirks. Interesting that all of the trucks do the same thing veering to one side. I just leave mine on all the time and pull against it if it is doing something dumb haha. maybe i'll turn it off like you do as it is more hindrance than help.
Well I’m glad it isn’t just a ford thing. It is pretty annoying that it seems to happen more often than now and I’m sure if I take it to the dealer they will keep if for an hour or so and just reset the system and not actually fix anything
Hahaha, I mean I don’t give them away for free. And more often than not I buy them used. I have made money on a few and paid for use on the rest. Owning and keeping one car would be cheaper for sure but that would be so boring. You can’t take it with you so might as well buy the things we like while we can enjoy them!
I found a work around for the infotainment not producing sound! Press the Right track button and the '-' volume button on the steeringwheel together for 5 seconds and it will restart the system. When it boots back up, it will work. Takes about 3-4 seconds.
you can drive around in Baja Exhaust mode... it just give a "for off road use only" disclamer but you say okay and it is fine. it is still way quieter than my M3 was. it is like buying a 2 inch leveling kit that says "for off road use only". just legal mumbo jumbo
Hello, I ordered mine RR last week, thanks for sharing ideas. I may do amber lights in white color but definitely paint in black mate exhaust tips, front skid plate. Maybe you will be interested to make a video about it and biggest RR issue rear console air vents. I hope there will be a option to add them, only US market RR has stupid shelve instead of air vents.
Are you talking about the full decal package or just the raptor stickers? I do like a clean vehicle but I figure someone else might want these stickers on the truck when I sell it so I’m leaving them on.
@flaberdoopin Raptor sticker on sides, I wouldn't go for decal package. We are all different, less visible, and better for me. i hope there will be an option to get stickers in case I sell.
yeah, I debadged my tacomas and jeep and I wouldn’t have ordered the decal package but this truck I got had it so I ended up with it. I’m still debating if I want to remove them but leaning towards just keeping them for a while before making the choice
thanks for the content. i enjoy your in depth deconstructions on the various parts of the truck. couple of things i can point out and add to your list (having owned a ranger raptor for 6-7 months): -that leather stretching you have is not def normal. i have a small amount of stretch to mine but that looks unusually damaged and i hope they can issue you a new seat altogether. -im still torn about having a sunroof. its great to have for hot weather but on the other hand if it starts leaking either from rough offroading displacement or poor build quality its a bitch. perhaps having ventilated seats would be sufficient enough to not wonder about a sunroof option. -needs a light or icon for when the tailgate is open. ive driven off with the tailgate open one time and forgot to close it. not sure if you have it in the US version so correct me if you guys do. -need a light or icon for that e-brake. i come from a traditional hand brake so you have a good indication just by feeling next to you if you left it on or not. -needs physical diff lock buttons and auto-hold -needs 60/40 or 50/50 back seat split. im also running a carseat on mine so the storage space under the back seats and behind it are useless since carseats are annoying to remove all the time. -not sure why theres no aircon vents in the back of the US version but im guessing its to add a little more hp since ford wanted a number over 400? hah who knows -needs blacked out exhaust tips -factory 35's option would be great -are there more games available in the sketch feature? i think the sketch feature is kinda dumb as is but if youre gonna add it, would be nice if there were more fun things to download for it. also on a side note, being about to change the ambient lighting color would be nice. like you, other than some things i wish were improved on i think the truck is awesome. keep up the good work brother!
i'm glad that the seat upholstery is not a common issue, i will continue to push back on it and see if i can get if fixed. As for the sunroof, i have had sunroofs in a lot of my other vehicles and i only used them a handfull of times, i use the power sliding rear window far more often so that was a big plus for me. An icon for the tailgate and parking brake would be great, i never know if the brake is engaged after the pop up warning goes away. as for the tailgate, if you start in reverse you will see the rear video of the bumper and that will clue you in but if you start out going forward there is no warning. no vents in the back is just crazy to me, not sure why they deleted them in the US... no need for a bigger compressor, just add the ducting, oh well. black exhaust tips would be great, i have seen some guys paint them and they look WAY better. i like the 33's (they are closer to 34) but 35's would look awesome for sure but would lower gas mileage even more. There are not games that i know of in the tablet and i haven't played with the sketch feature at all. Thanks for all the info and thoughts. i appreciate it! Cheers
I think that sound issue with the phone could actually be the phone, not the car. I have experienced that same thing with other head units I have in my vehicles (2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z with aftermarket unit) when using Android Auto. But I havent had an issue in a while. Perhaps a phone update fixed it.
interesting... i had an iphone 14 when i first bought the truck and it happened with that and 4 weeks ago i got the 15 and it is still happening... maybe an apple thing in general. we will see if an update comes out to fix it from apple any time soon
very well done. I think you and I have owned may of the same vehicles. I too had a Gladiator Mojave and to Grand Cherokees and even a previous model Ranger, amount the 13 cars I owned in the past 4 years. I agree that this is about the best of all of them wrapped up in one vehicle. I wish it had cooling seats and a sunroof, but other than that, it is extremely well equipped. I have put those kicker subs in several of my trucks and they are nice, but I do find the current one adequate since I don't need to shake any windows. The only electrical or sync issue I have, and it may be normal, is when a call is coming in and it connects or sometimes when I use Alexa for music, is there is a rather loud buzzing sound as the connection initiates but then it's fine. I noticed you also mentioned the Raptor mode shifting I had asked you about and that is exactly what I was experiencing. I never noticed the tach spiking though for power reserve. It doesn't necessarily feel smooth, but I guess it is a normal symptom of the function. I finally got my average gas mileage to get up to 18.2 on premium gas. Woo hoo!!!! trying for 20. Every time I fill up I love seeing the miles to empty increase. Last time it was 360. BTW, I am very glad you scrapped your homemade lightbar assembly. While it looked cool it didn't look rugged enough or positioned just right to look good on the Raptor. Keep the videos coming and thank you for taking the time to be so in depth. You have hit virtually every question I have had. :) Alex
Thanks for the extremely detailed and well thought out comment! 13 cars if 4 years, holy cow. i'll have to tell my wife about that because i have only had 5 cars in the past 4 years and she thinks that is bad haha. cooled seats would be great, if i had to choose between sunroof or sliding rear window, i would pick the power rear window, but sunroof might be a cool option for future model year. as for the subwoofer, my intent is not to shake the rear view mirror or windows, it is only a sealed 8" so it just provides a nice punchy tight bass. I have never had the loud buzzing issue with a phone connection over bluetooth. i'll have to keep an ear out for that one. On my current tank of gas i got 19 mpg driving on the highway to and from work but my average is closer to 16 over the past 2000 miles. you are right on about that light bar... it was pretty stout but it wouldnt' have held up long term, i'm going to reuse that to make a bed extender. Thanks for taking the time to share the comment. i appreciate it! Cheers.
Love your videos and insights. As for a couple things for Ford to change... (1) Get a real switch for the lockers, having them on a screen is just bad form. (2) I think there is just a little too much red in that interior, tone it down and class it up just a little. (3) Agree the ventilation in the back and the seats would be a great, make it optional if needed for a cost point. (4) Would be cool to offer 35's from the factory as an option, but that's not that big of a deal. Maybe they left some stuff off for the next refresh but regardless, good truck, good review.
I think you hit the nail on the head. I mentioned the lack of physical switches for the lockers in a previous review at the 500 or 1000 mile mark and didnt' want to repeat it... i also wish it had physical buttons for the seat warmer because once it is nice and hot and you are ready to turn it off you are likely on the highway and have to look down at the screen to make sure you are pushing the right area the right amount of times. As for the trim in the inside, it is very blatant! a more subtle color or maybe a few less would have been nice. The 35's from what i have heard dont fit without minor mod to the front suspension. They do look good when they are fitted through!
I agree that the tacoma is not, and really has been, a quick truck... they are capable and good looking though. that said, i think the Ranger Raptor looks even better and it is an amazing truck on the trails and on the streets. the X3 M is an awesome vehicle as well, no question about that, you could always debadge it and make it a little less conspicuous but it is still a BMW. I loved all of my BMW's but the maintenance is a bit out of hand on them.
I would be wanting the seats sorted. Ive done 4500ks in mine and seat look brand new still, I'm a building contractor so spend alot of time in seat. We also get vents and the rear.of console..by no opening rear window..which would be fantastic for the dog..or my wife.
Love the videos. I have been watching all of them I can. I ordered my Raptor April of 2023 and finally picked in up this week. I believe I have the first one in Idaho. So many things to learn, and your videos are an immense help. I did go to a local stereo shop to get the subwoofer upgraded (love music too much). Looking forward to the videos on your lighting additions. You keep making the videos and I will keep watching. Thank you. Quick question though. What is the purpose of the compartment in the center console on the right front? I can pull the cover open, but no idea what that is for.
thanks for watching and congrats on the delivery of your truck! that is awesome... i'm sure you are turning heads out there in Idaho! If you are talking about the compartment above the glove compartnemt, i just keep zip ties and a flash light in there, not sure what it is for. but it is better than dead space i guess, just more storage.
@@flaberdoopin I appreciate your work. I'm not talking about the storage (glove) boxes. In the center console between the seats. There is a little compartment in the bottom right (passenger side).
Great video! Mine did the same with my phone audio. Did a reboot (power off and on) on my phone, then all was fine again. I 100% agree, rear Ac vents and cooled seats would be nice, Ford already has the parts there is foreign market platinum model Ranger that has both those features. Been very happy with my stereo sound quality, really pretty happy with everything. If I could make a few changes to make it perfect for my taste, I would give it the overseas Platinum model interior, I would find a way to give it the 5.0L v8, I would give it a 25-30gal fuel tank. Now for minor little things. Yes 3 amber lights in grill, no loud orange trim inside, put the trailer plugs up in the bumper where they are better protected and easier to access. Ps. I did remove my decal pkg day 2, only took about 30 min, super easy to remove if you ever decide to remove them.
I will have to give the phone reboot a try... your comment made me think of the last time i have turned my phone off completely and i cant remember ever doing that since i bought it 5 months ago. Glad you are loving your truck! for me the stereo was awesome aside from the bass, but that is completely personal and i think most people dont need the upgraded sub. From what i hear, there are companies down in Australia that are shoe horning the coyote engines in these trucks! how awesome would that be. A bigger tank would be nice but when you get under and see how big the 20 gallon tank is, i dont know how they would fit. Good to hear about the decal package coming off easy. From a quick glance, it looked like the raptor part was part of the rest of the graphics. i want the raptor part on the side but not all of the rest. did you take the entire thing off or does it still say raptor on the side?
@@flaberdoopin Yea , the decals are all one thing. I am sure the standard RAPTOR logo decal could be bought and slapped on there, but yes, the ones you have would come off with the rest of the decal if you ever decide to remove them. I thought about getting the Raptor logo stickers and sticking them on there, but overall, I am kind of liking the clean look without any decals. So I doubt I ever get around to put anything back on the bed sides. You do still get the Raptor badge on the tailgate, that is only place on mine that still says it is a Raptor version. There is some walkaround videos of mine on my TH-cam channels if you want to see mine without any decals.
@@flaberdoopin I thought I would tell you I too lost my R button function on my trip home from work tonight. I really appreciate your R button failure and fix info. I plan to try it again tomorrow on the way to work, if my R button is still dead, I pull the battery cable and try the rest you had success with.
I guess the truck hugging the right side has to do with a regular 2 way road where you’d rather favor farther to ur side than the middle? But I do agree I don’t like that it hugs the right
I think you are probably correct about the reasoning for this. I hardly drive on 2 lane roads and when I do I am not letting the lane assist do its thing, but your rational is probably correct!
Watching your video now and is your truck WiFi hooked up to your modem at home this way whenever there’s an update your truck can receive the update while it’s parked in your driveway?
I havne't hooked it up to my home internet, i did sign up for the AT&T hotspot so i am wondering if it will use that to update any firmware or software.
I have been averaging 17.7 combined driving to and from work and around town. There are heater ducts under the seats actually, and you can force cold air thru them if you adjust it that way in the settings but it doesn’t send a lot of cold air through the floor ducts. I just angle the two middle vents to the back and it works well enough
I’m jealous. I want to find a dealer in Europe who will send me the left side A pillar trim with the handle but when I called to order one they said they don’t have it. That seems bonkers to me
Yeah we have in EU vents in back, unfortunately we have same engine only with 292 HP and for some strange reason we don’t have sliding rear window as you guys have.. something for something , such a pity
Did you buy the true parts for those rims to make them an actual lock bead? The fact of the extra cost and it's not a true lock bead...that's bs to me.
I agree that it is a bummer. seems like for the upcharge for these wheels, they should have come with the actual beadlock rings. I do not plan on buying the rings, kind of a bummer but i dont think i need them
@flaberdoopin the capability for the previous model didn't seem to need it and since there should have been tweaks done....I bet it is better off-road.
I have an accura and I have a similar issue with the radio. It says it's playing music but nothing from the speakers. I discovered that the issue is with the voice assistant. When you push the voice assistant button the radio is programmed to lower the master volume and play the assistant voice or chirp. There is a issue where it can get triggered and stuck in that listening mode. Sometimes pressing the assistant button again realeses it from the stuck state.
It is just a mophie MagSafe charger with the air vent hook mount. a.co/d/07Y5j2UI it is terrible if you keep the extension on it but if you take that out and mount directly it is pretty solid
i wonder that about a lot of the differences. the sliding rear window, the gas tank door not locking, the drive shafts not being coated... so many differences
That really bums me out. I live in the desert and AC is more important to me than heated seats. I wish this has vented seats in the front and air vents in the back of the console.
I think Ford did a great job with the Ranger Raptor and seems to be much more value for money than the new Toyota TRD PRO. The Ranger Raptor would be top of my list to buy if I didn’t already own my dream truck.
Great videos man. Just got mine a week ago. I’ve got two questions. How do you feel about the wheels after some time? I originally had ordered the non beadlock wheels but bought my truck in person that had the beadlock and kind of wish I had the others. Second have you looked into a bed rack at all?
Thanks for the comment and congrats on the new truck! I like the look of the wheels but am a little bummed that you have to spend another 800-1000 for the true beadlock rings. I will never get those becasue apparently it isn't legal to drive on the street with beadlocks (no idea why). I do think it gives it a cool look but they are also a lot heavier so the regular wheels might be better for that. As far as looks go, i like the looks of these. I have looked into bed racks a bit. I came to the realization that i need to finalize my tonneau cover decision before i get the rack. I want to go with a roll up tonneau with the t slot rail for accessories and then either go with a yakima system or rhino rack or frontrunner. all are solid option but before i put a tent on it i have to get the braces for the bed so i dont bend anything
That leather issue is unacceptable at that price. I have a 2017 Raptor, cooler & heated seats, leather still looks great. Seems like nowadays you get less former standard features and have to pay way more. I debate trading my 17 at times but I just don’t know if it’s worth it.
Wow, that’s good to hear that yours is holding up. I plan on going back in and asking them to readdress the issue next time I am at the dealership. I think overall this truck is a great rig but it has a few little quirks for sure
Jesus christ that driveshaft is RUSTY. Like I understand maybe a little rust but holy shit. My stuck is 6 months old ish and the driveshaft isnt near as rusty. No way that's normal
yeah, i was thinking the same thing... it seems like way more than normal. i did take it to the dealer to have them take a look at that when i was in for the dome lights and they said it is normal. kind of a bummer
great video! i have almost 1k on my new Raptor Ranger. i have to agree its a great truck so far. i totally agree with the Sync 4 system!! it did it in my Bronco Badlands as well. everything is on but no sound. ugh. it is the apple car play that does this to me. i would shut off my iphone and restart it and it worked. i will fix it through the infotainment center like you do, that would be easier. only thing i wish they would not have done is the back floor area, i wish it was just all flat, those boxes make it hard to put things in the back when the seats are up. the only other thing i may add is a back cover over the bed. i do like my Ford spray liner. the B&O stereo also is not as good as i expected, it was better in my F150 Lariat. maybe i need to get a new subwoofer as well. still this truck is a keeper!
i'll bet that in your F150 you had a larger stock subwoofer. That is a great point about the bump in the back seat area... it would be better to be able to slid stuff in there and the little cubbies are next to worthless other than to hold a few straps or something. I still have my fingers crossed that they come up with a fix for the Sync 4 connection issues
When I first got mine I thought the stereo was lacking but after switching the setting from stereo output to surround, it sounds fantastic to me, but maybe it’s more than that and I’m just easy to please
I’m really hoping they come out with a Maverick ST also, but I bet if they do it would get the 2.3L with an RS ish tune for prob 300-350. Highly doubt they would let it have 400hp to compete with this and the explorer ST.
Yeah, that’s a shame that they hamstring their lower model vehicles like that because it would be the modern day syclone/typhoon that blows the muscle cars and sports cars out the window!
Great video. Thanks. For vehicle service, do you take it back to the original dealer? I know you purchased it from a dealer in Maryland? I'm purchasing my Ranger Raptor from a dealer that's 90 miles away. So, it's not necessarily ideal for an easy commute.
I have been taking it to local dealers for service and it has been less than impressive. I may make the drive to the dealership that I purchased the truck from one of these days to see if they are a little better to work with
@@flaberdoopin Let us know how it goes. Perhaps it make be useful to have a video discussing your experiences navigating the Ford service/maintenance landscape?
@@erikgutierrez3196good call. I am still waiting to hear back about the response from ford proper to the dealer I took it to. I will keep you posted though once I have a firm answer to move forward with
2:33 Engineering Explained just got a Maverick AWD and says it is a second quicker to 60 than an F-150 Raptor 😄 16:03 My 17' Focus and thankfully my 22' Maverick has the ability to send air from all 3 levels at the same time. Including any combination of 2. Great for comfort + the function of defogging the windshield.
thats interesting and good to know about the air from all three areas... i didnt push all three but the fact that you can force two tells me that you can select all three as well. that is crazy that a maverick awd was faster than an F-150 raptor... is that the current one or the first gen?
@@flaberdoopin Definitely not the current F-150 Raptor. I think it was the first Gen, but whatever year it was had a V8. Also, have you tried to hold your position in your lane when using the Lane Centering? My Lane Centering seems to be "programmable" in that it will hold moreso to where I "recenter" it.
The audio not coming through with carplay every 10-15 times happens with mine too. Good to know it's not isolated to just mine and seems to be a software issue! Another difference I noticed besides the rear air vents (ours looks like it does in the infotainment picture) are the rear head rests for the back seats - our head rests are three small ones (identical to your middle seat head rest) - this allows for much better visibility from the rear view mirror... Must be something to do with US regulations or something as to why they are so big on the US versions? I will need to get back to you once I go out for a drive and confirm this - but I have a feeling that the lane keep system on mine also hugs the right hand side of the lane (driver's side for us)... interesting that it seems to be software that makes it hug the right side of the lane
kind of a bummer that the sync 4 has issues across the platform. Hopefully they are working on an update. I wish the rear seat here had three smaller head rests for both visibility and the ability to fold it down without having to move the front seats forward.
My XLT also hugs the rhs. It's not natural lane positioning. I turn it off every time I start the truck. I also find it too aggressive and tiring to have it on.
@@flaberdoopin You do indeed seem like a busy man. I resemble that. I love seeing the good, the bad and the ugly with your truck. Keep the videos coming!
the wheels are about 10 lbs heavier each. not terrible but rotating mass and unsprung weight are a bigger deal than throwing 40 extra lbs in the cab or the bed of the truck.
I'm just wondering if it corners well and hard. I'm looking to replace my 08 frontier. i know it's not gonna sportscar like(have track GTi and Lotus Exige S) but just want something composed when spirited driving but have truck utility.
I hope they have long term reliability. In nearly every aspect, the Ranger is better than the Tacoma. I sat in the rear seat of a 24 Tacoma yesterday. Uggh. Way worse than the 25 Ranger. Not to mention the 2.7 engine will make the standard Ranger a great utility vehicle. Again, if Ford can resolve their reliability issues, they have a chance to outsell the Tacoma.
yeah, from what i understand, this new version of the ranger is outselling the toyota hilux globally for the first time ever... that is a huge deal. I think that it will be reliable in stock form, but it is so tempting to tune and modify it and that is wehre most of the problems happen. I have 3000 miles so far and it is getting better and better every day!
@@anthonypanepinto9685 yep... both engine oil and transmission fluid pans are plastic. and sadly there is no protection for the trans pan other than it being 5-6 inches higher than the rest of the stuff but still open to high center on a rock or something.
i agree, it is a bummer... i just point the center vents up front towards the back but it would have been nice to have vents back there like they do overseas.
I'm considering a ranger raptor but my big 3 complaints are the nose down look (needs a 2 in. leveling kit) small tires needs 35 but 37 in. grapples would be perfect and no place for front winch
Yeah, the lack of front winch location is a big bummer on stock bumper. I do agree that the rake from back to front is too significant and it needs a leveling kit for sure! As far as bigger tires, I’m good with the 33” tires but it might look cool with bigger for sure
not that i know of... there are little clamp areas on the tailgate that you could use but not a place to tie down at the bed floor level that i have noticed
The Explorer seemed like it had more power at the lower RPM range and it was certainly quicker as well. It weighs 700-800 lb more than the ranger but I think the unsprung weight and the weight of all the driveline components was significantly less allowing it to accelerate quicker. And it handled so well on the pavement… I loved driving the Explorer st
right on, glad i could help you make the right choice for you... i love this truck and all the little things are completely fine with me since the drivetrain is so awesome, but to each their own. Toyotas are awesome too!
The two I had were both 2004. One TRD Sport prerunner and then I sold that for a TRD Off-road 4x4 with ARB front locker. Great trucks but that motor was so underpowered in my opinion, but it ran forever!
@@Mc.Nuggetz It is a brand new model truck, so some issues are to be expected. My biggest problem with the new Taco is its price. The competition is much better now, and I can't understand what Toyota's management was thinking when they set the price for this truck. However, I still believe that the Ranger Raptor is the coolest mid-size truck.
I took that piece of trim off both sides and sadly the bracket to mount a handle to isn’t even there on the driver side like it is on the pax side. Big time bummer if you ask me
it is an option from the factory... if i had ordered this truck i would have gone with the bed liner and not gotten the decal package... i'll be getting a spray in bed liner within the next couple of months along with a tonneau cover
@flaberdoopin I really want to level it and put 35s on it. But I don't want to run into issues with rubbing or travel and I'm worried I would cause those issues. What's your plans for wheels and tires?
I think I’m gonna stick to these wheels but I’ll be switching to 35s when these tires are done, not gonna switch before that though. The way I understand it, 35s will fit with just minor mods according to ford engineers, they debated making it a factory option even but went with 33s instead
I am with you on that one... i will be doing the engine oil pan replacement probably at the 10,000 mile oil change and maybe the trans at the same time and get it flushed while i am at it. I am also looking at some full undercarriage protection. Rival makes some but it isn't all listed on their site yet. hopefully they start selling a kit soon because their gas tank and engine skid plates look great.
haha, i have tried to get her a new car on many occasions and she always says she is fine with her 'cho cho minivan' as the kids call it. it's the van that never dies!

Driver side memory seating should be included. I need and want driver side memory seating. Their is no comprise for me on that. My wife, my daughter and my self will drive the Raptor. Driver side memory seating is a big plus for us.
@@flaberdoopin I am not talking about the 3 manual adjustment buttons on the driver seat. Memory seating is automatic one button push to adjust the seat to an exact position. Look up car or truck memory seating on TH-cam.
@@aceforcejointcombatgameout7731 I’m not talking about those adjustment buttons down on the side of the seat either…. I am talking about the numbered buttons up by the door locks that store a seat position in memory and let you set 3 different drivers seating preferences and move the seat there with the press of a single button. I may not know much about cars and trucks but i know what a memory seat is. The ranger raptor has 3 of them. Navy always has to explain how things work to the Air Force haha. Just playing around, i trained with the Air Force back in 2005 at Vance AFB in Enid Oklahoma, some of the most fun flying out there in the mighty tweet.
@@flaberdoopin my next truck won’t have a sunroof. Every pickup I’ve owned has leaked….. the last one I didn’t know until I sold it 15 years after prchase. My brothers sunroof also leaks. My next pickup needs to last me through retirement
About what? I’m sure I’ll have something else by then. I always intend to keep cars for a long time but something else awesome comes along and I end up switching it up. If I put 40-50k on this before something else catches my eye I’ll be surprised. Maybe the next gen ranger raptor will blow my socks off
If you like getting off-road it’s a great switch but if you are looking for a performance truck for mostly street driving that will be fun like the M4 you will not be too happy with the RR I think. I love it, but there are times I am on the twisty back roads when I miss the M3 and my old RS.
Yeah, I had no issues in my focus ST or RS and the Explorer SY didn’t have any issues either. This is the first ford I have had with poor driver seat upholstery
Holy crap that seat looks horrible with such little mileage. I would love one of these, but all the ford QC stuff comes to mind, and this video kind of confirms my fear.
As someone who has owned the f150 raptor, the bronco raptor, and now the ranger raptor, you are spot on. It's the absolute best value and is awesome offroad and on!
Thanks for the comment, and that is great to hear from someone who has had them all! Cheers
Beautiful truck! So nice to watch a video by someone who loves their vehicle and is proud to display it's features. Congratulations again on this purchase.....
Thank you! It is great for sure!
I love how in-depth this video is. Thanks!
@@AB-jt6ic glad you found it useful! Cheers
Just letting you know none of the Aussie raptors seem to have that problem with the seats. I’ve seen a couple 2022 models and the seats are still perfect
that is great to hear, it gives me that little additional push to keep bringing it up with the dealership when i go in for anything else.
Yeah my 2024 raptor seats are still immaculate. I'm in New Zealand.
I got them from indicarbon.com
also coming up on 2k miles. traded in a 2016 focus rs (135k miles daily driver) and a 2010 tundra rockwarrior. owned 2005 mustang GT and 2 focus svt's with superchargers,. have to say the RR is a joy. I'm 75 now. don't need all the track stuff on the RS. way quieter than the RS on the road.
sounds like we have similar taste in vehicles. I did love my RS but this truck is pretty great all around and a blast on the trails.
I have the same connectivity with sync and your phone as I do in my GT350. About every 10 times too haha.
It is a pain but at this point it is just a part of my start up check list haha
Cheers!
Just under 600 miles on my xlt ranger got it 2 weeks ago almost done breaking in the engine can’t wait until I can start towing with it
Awesome, you have a higher tow rating than my raptor! Let me know how it does once you hook something up to it!
I will probably won’t happen until next year unless I can get 600 more miles on it by early summer. I read they recommend no towing until 1200 Mile mark?

@@flaberdoopin Alright I am going to pick up the sub this weekend as it is on sale. So if I understand correctly, you cut the connector that was going into the factory sub, and then spliced that connector onto the cabling for the new sub. That then connects to the existing amp, and then you just run power to the battery and that should be all? Thanks again for your help and all your content!!
@@waveplantski that is just about it. the power wires going to the old sub become the new high level input levels for the new powered sub. then just run power wire to the battery and then ground to one of the brackets on that back wall of your truck and you are good to go.
It works.
yeah, for sure... the center two vents pointed back to the rear seats is a solid way to get the cool air back there.
Love the content! I have a 2021 Ford F150 Raptor. Nothing like a Raptor. The leather is terrible in these trucks.
haha, good to know that the leather being garbage isn't isolated to the Ranger version! Cheers to a big brother raptor driver!
You would think Ford would have addressed that in the last three years.

Cheers.
I am really torn over this and the full sized raptor. Thanks for a good overview!
@@EvoJoeIX 100%. i love the look and feel of the full size but for me, it was too much for city driving
2018 had a v8 raptor?
I learn so much from everyone on here, I love it
Are you still happy with your shelter green, or would you prefer the azure gray or red chilli pepper. Thx a bunch.
I got this color because it was what was available, it is growing on me but I do like the red and different gray colors. All of the colors are pretty awesome actually so I’d have been happy with any of them

Haha, I try not to cuss but it just happens. There are so many useful bad words out there!
How is the road noise on highway? My order is getting built and i believe we have the same tires.
It is not bad at all. The cabin is pretty quiet overall, very nicely built and I love my KO3s
That problem with apple car play does exist with every brand. I had that in my RAM Rebel as well and now also in the RR
Good to know it isn’t just a ford thing
The Ausie ones have rear Air vents and grab handles all around.
I’m jealous! Two things I wish we had for sure
Really hoping my dealer gets some more allocations soon. Every new video of yours makes me jealous. Lol. I've also had my fair share of STs.
I loved my focus and Explorer STs! Hopefully you can pick up a raptor soon!
I also found out that the bed can carry six 5 gal fuel jugs horizontally across the back, aft of the wheel tubs
Good to know!
I have the same issue with my Apple car play in my ‘19 Jeep.
Well I’m glad it isn’t just a ford thing. It is pretty annoying that it seems to happen more often than now and I’m sure if I take it to the dealer they will keep if for an hour or so and just reset the system and not actually fix anything
That’s a beautiful truck. But imagine how much you’ve spent on vehicles in your life. To me that’s so crazy.
Awesome! I’ll try that next time mine is acting up
Can you have it in the Baja exhaust mode on roads or do you have to be off-road to use it?
you can drive around in Baja Exhaust mode... it just give a "for off road use only" disclamer but you say okay and it is fine. it is still way quieter than my M3 was. it is like buying a 2 inch leveling kit that says "for off road use only". just legal mumbo jumbo
@@flaberdoopin thank you for the reply, I figured you could but I just was curious.
Right on.
Ranger Raptor R!! Come on Ford!
Heck yeah… wouldn’t that be awesome?
Hello, I ordered mine RR last week, thanks for sharing ideas. I may do amber lights in white color but definitely paint in black mate exhaust tips, front skid plate. Maybe you will be interested to make a video about it and biggest RR issue rear console air vents. I hope there will be a option to add them, only US market RR has stupid shelve instead of air vents.
Yeah, it is a bummer that we don’t get air vents in the back. Glad you got your order in! You won’t regret it. Cheers
IMO, Raptor sticker on the side looks cheap and will be removed as soon as I receive my truck.
I’m still debating if I want to remove them but leaning towards just keeping them for a while before making the choice
thanks for the content. i enjoy your in depth deconstructions on the various parts of the truck. couple of things i can point out and add to your list (having owned a ranger raptor for 6-7 months):
-that leather stretching you have is not def normal. i have a small amount of stretch to mine but that looks unusually damaged and i hope they can issue you a new seat altogether.
-needs physical diff lock buttons and auto-hold
-needs 60/40 or 50/50 back seat split. im also running a carseat on mine so the storage space under the back seats and behind it are useless since carseats are annoying to remove all the time.
-not sure why theres no aircon vents in the back of the US version but im guessing its to add a little more hp since ford wanted a number over 400? hah who knows
-needs blacked out exhaust tips
-factory 35's option would be great
-are there more games available in the sketch feature? i think the sketch feature is kinda dumb as is but if youre gonna add it, would be nice if there were more fun things to download for it. also on a side note, being about to change the ambient lighting color would be nice.
like you, other than some things i wish were improved on i think the truck is awesome. keep up the good work brother!
i'm glad that the seat upholstery is not a common issue, i will continue to push back on it and see if i can get if fixed. Cheers
I love your videos and i love your truck! Just got my '24 F150 Raptor last week! I always watch your videos great work
Thanks so much and congrats on the big brother Raptor! Hope you are loving that truck… when are you going to the Raptor assault school in Utah?
Weird, here in Germany we definitly have AC in the rear, where you have the "hole" in the center console O.o
yeah, i dont understand the thought process behind deleting the rear vents in the US. Kind of a bummer.
very well done.
The Raptor Rangers are everywhere in Sydney Aus.
That’s awesome. I’m sure in a few years it will be the same here in the states
cool, thinking of buying one, was thinking of a tacoma but its soo soo slow , or a bmw x3 M but its too flashy
No you are right they are always leaving shit in the back!! lol love the car brother enjoy it
Haha, I have given up on keeping my truck clean and we just use the heck out of it
I would be wanting the seats sorted. Ive done 4500ks in mine and seat look brand new still, I'm a building contractor so spend alot of time in seat. We also get vents and the rear.of console..by no opening rear window..which would be fantastic for the dog..or my wife.
Thanks for the comment, makes me more willing to keep pushing to have the seat fixed! I’m jealous of the rear seat vents.
Nice man, we are similar in age and car choices. Thanks for sharing. I am shopping for one now..
Awesome! Good luck, hope you are able to find one… it’s a sweet truck

I really appreciate your R button failure and fix info. I plan to try it again tomorrow on the way to work, if my R button is still dead, I pull the battery cable and try the rest you had success with.
@@jdfleetguy28I’m glad you were able to get it fixed nice and easy but it’s a bummer that it stopped working in the first place.
I have had many fords a few with leather seats. Never had an issue with the seats. I had about 100k on all those vehicles.
Good to know. I will keep pressing to get it fixed
I ordered one in August. Got my order confirmation 4/1/24. Wondering how much longer
Awesome, congrats on the order and build date! Keep us posted on delivery.
What is your fuel mileage?
Isn't there air conditioning ductwork underneath the driver seat?
I have been averaging 17.7 combined driving to and from work and around town. There are heater ducts under the seats actually, and you can force cold air thru them if you adjust it that way in the settings but it doesn’t send a lot of cold air through the floor ducts. I just angle the two middle vents to the back and it works well enough
thank you so much for you analysis...very helpful
Hey, thanks for the comment. Much appreciated and I’m glad it was useful! Cheers
The EU Model have vents in the back , also the grip for the driver
I’m jealous. I want to find a dealer in Europe who will send me the left side A pillar trim with the handle but when I called to order one they said they don’t have it. That seems bonkers to me
Yeah we have in EU vents in back, unfortunately we have same engine only with 292 HP and for some strange reason we don’t have sliding rear window as you guys have.. something for something , such a pity
That is crazy and quite the detune! 100less HP, that’s a shame.
On the aussie ranger raptor we have grab handles on both sides and when we lock it the gas door locks as well
Two of the things I wish we had here for sure, along with AC vents in the back seat
@@flaberdoopin Weird they don't have AC vents in the rear. Even my Ranger XLT has the rear vents
Interesting! I will give that a try the next time I have this issue. Thanks so much for letting me know!
What is the cell phone mount that you are using?
It is just a mophie MagSafe charger with the air vent hook mount. a.co/d/07Y5j2UI it is terrible if you keep the extension on it but if you take that out and mount directly it is pretty solid
Weird that the USA version doesn't have air vents in the rear, I'm in New Zealand and mine does. Wonder what the thinking was there..
i wonder that about a lot of the differences. the sliding rear window, the gas tank door not locking, the drive shafts not being coated... so many differences
That really bums me out. I live in the desert and AC is more important to me than heated seats. I wish this has vented seats in the front and air vents in the back of the console.
100%... even with the cold here in DC i would trade for vented seats for the summer!
I think Ford did a great job with the Ranger Raptor and seems to be much more value for money than the new Toyota TRD PRO. The Ranger Raptor would be top of my list to buy if I didn’t already own my dream truck.
Yeah, I love it. What truck do you have?

Right on. I ordered the amber lights from indicarbon.com
@@flaberdoopin 👍👍
To hell with the greedy dealers marking up the bigger raptors to ridiculous prices.
Yeah, it is a bummer
I'll trade you my non beadlocks if you want lol
@@carownervirus4438 haha, i like the wheels, just dont think i'll pay the extra to make them true beadlock.
@@Luztinn agree switched to surround and plenty loud for me!
Good review. Very thorough 👍
Thanks! 👍 I try to share as much as i can from an owners perspective unlike the guys who only get the truck for a weekend.
I will keep you posted though once I have a firm answer to move forward with
2:33 Engineering Explained just got a Maverick AWD and says it is a second quicker to 60 than an F-150 Raptor 😄
16:03 My 17' Focus and thankfully my 22' Maverick has the ability to send air from all 3 levels at the same time.
I have corrected it back to center and it will always go back to the right
The audio not coming through with carplay every 10-15 times happens with mine too.
Huh, you've had so many cars I have owned, very interesting.
Great minds think alike. You have great taste in vehicles:)

Not familiar with the 3.0 engine and reliability. Does it have a plastic oil pan? Any idea if the 2.7 in the Ranger will have a plastic oil pan?
Both have plastic oil pans, and even the transmission pan is plastic.
I believe he did say the oil pan was plastic.
@@anthonypanepinto9685 yep... both engine oil and transmission fluid pans are plastic. and sadly there is no protection for the trans pan other than it being 5-6 inches higher than the rest of the stuff but still open to high center on a rock or something.
The version that is selling in Brazil has the rear Vents, I dont know why the US version doent has then, very strange...
i agree, it is a bummer... i just point the center vents up front towards the back but it would have been nice to have vents back there like they do overseas.
Do they come with ventilated seats.
Sadly no... that is a serious bummer in my book... my 2020 explorer had them but my 2024 ranger raptor doesn't... bummer
@@flaberdoopin that stinks - I wonder why. Makes no since. They even ventilate the seats in the Lariat Mavericks.
One question though, isn’t there a tie down point on the tailgate?
not that i know of... there are little clamp areas on the tailgate that you could use but not a place to tie down at the bed floor level that i have noticed
Aus. and NZ both get the rear ventilation !!
Yep, I’m jealous
Great review.
Thank you! Cheers
How does the power compare to the ST ?
The Explorer seemed like it had more power at the lower RPM range and it was certainly quicker as well. It weighs 700-800 lb more than the ranger but I think the unsprung weight and the weight of all the driveline components was significantly less allowing it to accelerate quicker. And it handled so well on the pavement… I loved driving the Explorer st
While this truck is priced much better than the new Tacoma, those minor problems you have reminded me why I would never buy a Ford again.
right on, glad i could help you make the right choice for you... i love this truck and all the little things are completely fine with me since the drivetrain is so awesome, but to each their own. Toyotas are awesome too!
@@flaberdoopinToyota technology sucks compared to ford, the second gen’s were amazing but then they went to Mexico to build them.
The two I had were both 2004. One TRD Sport prerunner and then I sold that for a TRD Off-road 4x4 with ARB front locker. Great trucks but that motor was so underpowered in my opinion, but it ran forever!
The new Tacoma’s are riddled with problems unfortunately.
Add drivers side grab bar
I took that piece of trim off both sides and sadly the bracket to mount a handle to isn’t even there on the driver side like it is on the pax side. Big time bummer if you ask me
Ford should have put a spray-in bed liner in that Raptor.
it is an option from the factory... if i had ordered this truck i would have gone with the bed liner and not gotten the decal package... i'll be getting a spray in bed liner within the next couple of months along with a tonneau cover
Did you level the front end?
I haven’t done any suspension modifications yet but a 2” leveling kit will be in the near future
The way I understand it, 35s will fit with just minor mods according to ford engineers, they debated making it a factory option even but went with 33s instead
once I get the money for this truck I will definitely be replacing those plastic oil pans 😆
