    I have my fathers model 41. As I recall, he bought it as a boy in the 1930s,choosing it over a Marlin. My own son used it to earn his Boy Scout rifle shooting merit badge because he couldn’t get a tight grouping with my modern 10/22 carbine. Super accurate

    I have one made in 1934 according to remington. Very accurate rifle even compared to modern rifles. Made back in the day when during the depression people had to hunt to have enough meat. I got mine from a seventy something old woman in florida who told me her uncle fed his family with it during the depression.My freiend has a model 33 which is the predesessor to the 41. The 510 replaced the 41 with its self cocking bolt etc. Very cool little rifles to collect and very affordable.

    I just found 98% of the parts to put my dad's back together once I re-blue it and refinish the stock. Only thing I can see that's missing are the 2 screws for trigger guard. It has been through a fire but luckily it was on the other side that didn't get to hot. Steam and soot didn't help its already rough finish then add 15yrs of setting with oil and grease so it didn't get worse lol

      Is it ok to use cci stinger ammo in one of these?

    • @TheGunBuff
      @TheGunBuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would be fine. I have shot all kinds of ammo out of mine. CCI Stingers is great ammo. Higher velocity does not come at higher psi, in this ammo it is derived from the special 32 grain bullet that gives the CCI Stinger a larger case volume/powder charge. Which in turn gives it higher velocity.

    I also have one that my Dad had as a farm kid probably around age 11. It was the first gun I ever shot around the same age. He told me a story about him being on a ship heading to Europe to kick Hitler's ass. They were all given new M1s right out of a crate with stocks that were rather dry. They all spent hours sitting there rubbing them with oily rags. He said by the time they arrived his was looking real pretty. Unfortunately, they took that gun away and handed him an M1903 Springfield bolt action telling him he's now a sniper. I wonder if his background as a farm boy with that old 22 got him that job.

But at one point I took it all apart to re-stain the stock and through many moves I lost all the parts except the stock, barrel and cleaning push rod. Do you have a source for all the missing parts? Please let me know. Thanks, Jerry Fountain.

    • @TheGunBuff
      @TheGunBuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These bolts get really dirty. Especially if they haven't been broken down and lubricated in a long time. Their is a pin near the bolt handle that you push out and the pin and the spring will sperqt from the bolt body. If I have time I will make a video. This is a story I shared on Facebook so places named were local.
    Remington Targetmaster .22 Single Shot Bolt Action Rifle.
    Why?
    When I was growing up in Brentwood Mr. Dabbs threw this weapon into the garbage. A neighborhood kid found it but his mother would not let him keep it. So I was the lucky recipient.
    Still ask why? Later, when I was 11 (1979) years old this individual shot me in the calf with a pellet gun (loaded with a BB). I had to have surgery to remove the BB, the doctors couldn't find it so it's still in me somewhere. Kevin Back later became a Law Enforcement Officer in LA County, California.
    This weapon was made in 1936 and is still in my possession. Is it worth anything? Hell yes it is. My dad would take me and my brother plinking to the sand pit off of HWY 50 where the Kanes furniture store is now. I could buy the ammo myself at Whites Auto which was in the Shopping Center where Bogarts was.
    Childhood memories. You can't fake em' but when you're cleaning an old gun you can sure relive them!
    A picture is in the comments.
