Just picked up the same rifle from my uncle this is the rifle that I learned to shoot when I was a kid and now it’s mine.
That is awesome. Keep it in family
That is a great old rifle.
Man you got to love those old Remington 22’s. I my first gun was a Remington 552. I still have it today. I’m 55 and got it when I was 9 and it’s sill a great shooter.
Thanks for the comment Patriot
I won't shoot anything but mini-mags in my 22's. Rarely have jamming issues with that ammo. Can't say the same thing about other brands. Grew up learning to shoot on a 512. My uncle taught me back when I turned 6 in 1952 on his farm here in East Texas. Great memories.
The mini mags are great 22 ammo for sure. In my area they have been pretty hit and miss as far as availability. I have bought many other brands out of desperation. My dad lives just outside of Sherman Tx great horse county for sure. Thanks for watching
Learned on my grandfather’s 512 in Kaufman! I can still hear my grandmother hollering for dinner. Miss it.
@@iseeyou8781 I see em at gunshows ever now then but not gonna spend $300 for one and not know if it has ejection problems. Back in my childhood days we never had scopes so I don't know if they were real accurate or not. I could kill squirrels, rabbits, and armadillos with it at 50 yds so that's all I cared about lol. Yeah, I too, miss it.
@@easttexan2933 nice! I remember my grandfather couldn’t miss with his. I always thought it was because he only had one eye from losing the other in a construction accident. I wish I knew what happened to the rifle. I did inherit my dad’s 512 which is good for plinking and small nuisance animals.
@@iseeyou8781 My older female cousin who was this particular uncle's daughter gave the rifle away after he passed cause I believe she knew I wanted it. She was always jealous of me as I was the son they never had and they raised me on their farm.
It's a fine rifle I have one and also have a Remington targetmaster single shot! Both great shooting fine made rifles!
These rifles have some great workmanship for sure. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching
I am a big fan of the 510 511 512 after clearing the barrel try some cci blazers they seem to be a little slower but more constant worked for me I got a dime size pattern at 50 yards I bought a full case right after that and I am very pleased .
You are correct about 22’s and grand kids. We only have one and he and I shoot a bucket full of them every year. It cost very little to create a great bond between us that will last forever. P.S., I’m a subscriber and greatly appreciate your content and hang in there buddy!
That is great A grandpa can have great influence on grandchildren. Thanks for the sub
Great Memories!!! The 510 single shot, 511 magazine fed, 512 tubular magazine and 513 target heavy barrel model , were all in the same category. The 514 was a latter made single shot with a different bolt and slightly smaller diameter barrel. Bill @ Mitchell's Gunsmithing.
These all are great old rifles My father in law has the single shot. When I saw the tube feed in the pawn shop I just had to have it. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching
If you run across some CCI Standard velocity buy them! You may be pleasantly surprised! Also the CCI Quiet are pretty cool too!
Have not tried the CCI standard velocity I have seen them available lately i will give them a try
Thanks for watching
I had a Remington model 513 T back in the day.
I wish I still had it. They didn’t have great triggers though.
Don’t discount the diminutive little .22 rimfire!
I love shooting my rimfire rifles and handguns.
Believe it or not, rimfire precision rifle shooting is one of the fastest growing shooting disciplines right now.
They shoot out to 300 yards and even farther in competition.
I know the rimfire precision rifle shooting is growing very fast. The high school rodeo club in Utah has started a shooting program for high school students and it is getting very big fast. I think it is great because the kids that are not athletes and do have horses still can be participate. Thanks for the comment Boyd
I love those old Remington 22s. Counting the ones I've given my grandkids we've got 9, and they get shot a lot. Enough so that we have to clean them every now and then😉 Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the comment George I am a big fan of your channel. Grandkids are the best I have 2 and one on the way. Thanks for watching
Savage & Steven's rifles that are older models, many of they have 24" barrels! That is my barrel length of choice.
The 24 barrels are straight shooters for sure Thanks for watching
I've had real good luck with Winchester Power Points 40gr HP's. One of the better hunting rounds available in 22LR. Thanks!
I agree with you on the WW power points. My savage loves them. The skunks that invaded my barn last summer hate them (all 10 of the skunks). Thanks for all of your great comments
Sold
The models with that bolt are the 510, 511, 512, 513T and 521T. The 514 had a different bolt.
Very interesting thanks for the comment. I am not an expert on those old 22 rifles for sure, but they are neat guns
Mini mags are the go to , and these days they cost the same as others
Thanks for the comment William. I do like the mini mags. I am going to do a video maybe today on the Winchester super X power point hollow point. Always looking for a premium 22. used to be stringers but they are not a good as they used to be. Thanks for watching
That “Beehive” part is the bolt, not the receiver. Not sure how you could have a semi auto version based on a bolt action.
I don't know for sure how they work. They just have a similar look. Thanks for watching
Do you know what year the 512-x sportmaster was made ? Anyone ?
If I remember correctly. This one was made in 1943. Not sure though
Thank you .
