    I got one of these for my kids but I think I enjoy shooting it as much as they do. I want to point out to you that the trigger guard is on backwards, I noticed it when you was showing the stock you might want to flip it around to give some more room for your trigger finger.

    • @MrBrad777c
      @MrBrad777c  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes this was my Father N Laws first gun. So the trigger guard is one backwards?? Hmmm have to look at that and give him a hard time over it! Hes basically my gunsmith on the cheap....well free. Good eye!

    • @vonbottorff7141
      @vonbottorff7141 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL , I had to look at my trigger guard to make sure after I saw it.. I thought it looked odd but something told me to g look at mine to confirm before saying anything. Probably happened when the stock was redone. Simple mistake but it gives you something funny to rib him about..

    My dad recently got one of these from his dad and it is by far the most fun gun I have ever shot. None of the pistols, rifles or shotguns quote match up to this thing.

      Awesome! I actually had robbery where I lost this and two of my prize AR15s. Fortunately the thieves liked this gun and held onto it.....selling the ARs to the big boys in Detroit.....but kept this as a prize......police raided their house for some parole violation and found my father n laws gun inside by their bed. Great to have it back!

    • @MrBrad777c
      @MrBrad777c  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if it was very good condition 150 would be a good price. You can always offer them less...especially if its used as you prob know. But sounds like you made a better choice. This gun is more for Remington collectors or someone like my father n law who wants to bring back some old memories. Its a nice little gun tho. I would buy one for 100 if I got the chance.....prob no more....but I'm pretty cheap and try to buy my guns underpriced.

      Oh yes....def a VERY accurate little rifle. Be excellent to teach a youngster. I actually had this gun along with 2 of my prized ARs stolen.....never recovered the ARs......the thief was a young kid that decided to hold onto this gun.....they raided his house for some other charge and I got it back.......thank goodness.....my Father n law would have not been happy....it was a present to my wife.

      Yes I flashed up in the screen that my father n law believes his was 1962....which makes sense. Yes the below was where I was looking.....but that key applies to all the older Remingtons I suppose. If I had known the time frame these were made in I would have been able to narrow it down to 1962 myself. Thanks for watching and sharing.

    I got mine in 68, it's killed hundreds of squirrels and about that many coons, I had coon dogs. Wish I had a dollar for every round I shot through it. I could probably by my own island. Think it cost 13 dollars

    • @MrBrad777c
      @MrBrad777c  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow 13 dollars! My first gun was a 410 single shot....I paid 70 bucks for it. Actually overpaid back then. But most of my shooting was done with my Dads 22lr guns. My Dad was an avid coon hunter. Our favorite dogs were Mountain Curs...silent on the track....less walking lol. Our best dog was one named Kentucky. He was extremely smart and had a bark for when he was hot, then one for treed....then it went dead silent while he circled the tree....and then once sure he barked solid treed. If you turned him loose during the day he would hunt a deer until he tired it and actually killed it. But at night he knew we were only interested in coons. Once we were out road hunting and Kentucky started barking....I opened the passenger door and let him out. He ran around this old abandoned house barking....ran back by the truck....then up on the hillside and barked treed. I went to step out of the truck and was shocked to step on a warm dead coon! He had killed one on the ground, dropped it off by the truck....and then treed the other. He didnt play around. We had to be careful not to hunt him too much tho because he would run the balls of his feet off. Legendary coon dog and has a special grave placement on Dads farm.

      @MrBrad777c  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Dennis. I would have no idea where you would even begin. This is a VERY old gun. The only place you could look would be at local gun shows in parts bins. You could TRY ebay as it is legal to sell a bolt on there. Could get lucky.

      I looked under the SOLD history....it appears these go for around 90 to 200 dollars. I did find one auction that ended for 39 but the other 10 or so auctions were MUCH higher. I'd keep my eye out and you might get lucky. Had no idea you could part them out for so much?

    Yours looks like a youth model. Can you give men the dimensions on it? How long is the gun overall? How long is barrel? I had one given to me as my first gun #BJ53 was the YOUTH model by my father. My was stolen and most of the guns for sale have the 24" barrel. Thanks

    • @MrBrad777c
      @MrBrad777c  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm away from home at the moment. But yes this is the youth model. It was my Father N Laws first gun. He gave it to my wife. Shortly after receiving it someone actually broke into my car following a range trip and stole it. Fortunately when police raided a 19 year old kids home for failing to appear in court they found this and returned it. Lucky.

    • @rkdev1

    • @MrBrad777c
      @MrBrad777c  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I also lost my best AR15 and an AR Pistol. Those were quickly moved to some big boys from Detroit....and never seen again. However this little rifle and some of my bow hunting supplies were kept due to this kid was into bow hunting and realized the little rifle was not going to bring him much from the big boys. Huge mistake keeping that stuff around....but hes a young kid and I'm sure as he moves through the system his fencing skills will improve. Sadly the kid had already had like 4 other cases out against him at the age of 19....hard to tell how many times in juvenile system....records wont show of course. Supposedly this time he will at least face hard time.....probably like 5 to 10....and be out into society soon enough.

    • @mknight5159
      @mknight5159 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brad C Wow that kid had some nerve. If it makes you feel any better. My fathers friend bought a Colt Python back in '75. Had it stolen out of his trailer during a party after the first year of owning it. My guess is he obviously didn't have it put away well enough. He ended up getting it back 30 + years later!! A guy got pulled over and they ran the numbers on the Python. Stolen! I guess the guy who was caught with it ratted out the buddy who sold it to him cause he didnt want to take the hit. The guy who had initially stole it had just sold it to his buddy about a year prior. So the friend had no idea he had a stolen firearm. When he got it back, it looked exactly the same, plus a few small little scratches and a dirty forcing cone, but it still looked pretty damn good due to Colts deep royal bluing. Thieves will never win and that jackass is probably sorry for his actions 30+ years ago. That was about 10 yeas ago now

    • @MrBrad777c
      @MrBrad777c  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mknight5159 Yeah luckily for me the kid tried to keep the only sentimental gun of the batch.....as well as some other supplies of mine. Still a massive financial loss....but its all good. I'm more wanting bad things for the people that come from Detroit and buy from these druggie kids.
