I recently experienced the same issue where my blower motor stopped working. I am so grateful I came across your video as I was about to buy a new one. I simply removed my cowl filter, saw that the top had been exposed to water so I sprayed a bit of WD40, rotated the motor and it was back to normal. Thank you for posting this video!
I did the exact same thing with my car today and fixed it. If it wasn't for this video, I don't know what I would've done or how much money I would've spent fixing it
@@FaiqS you took off the cover from where the wipers are, spray WD40 and it worked?! Mine stopped and I'm dying as I use my car all day for work. Please help! SOS lol
@@cr0wnnoize808 actually, I removed the dash and the bottom cover as instructed in the video, dismounted the motor and then sprayed the WD40 and gave it a good spin. Thank you for this video, it worked for me. Re installing the heater blower was a bit tricky, but came back to it after 20 minutes and got it right, it didn't wanna screw back in, and that unit is huge with all the wiring in between. I saved R3500/250$ all the way from Gauteng, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Thank you this was a great tutorial. I was quoted $300 for part plus 3 hours labor and followed your video, mine was quite hard to wrestle out but found a good second hand part on eBay for $120 inc postage and installed it as you showed and works like new! I did pray a few times when I was removing it, the old part was really jammed but thank God the new part fit it without trouble! I did take some pictures to help me get the orientation of everything right!
Mines just gave out on my E92 also. AutoGlass replaced my windscreen and the seal that’s seen in this video wasn’t replaced very good so I’m guessing that’s the cause
Yo I appreciate this video. My ac went out about 2 months ago and it has been hell on earth in Maryland with this heat. Didn't have the extra expense to take it to the bmw shop so I tried this method after watching this video. Thank you for saving me a trip!
You forgot to mention the tab in the back of the blower to take it off. I tried to turn it for 20 min until I figured it out but in the end it worked and my a/c works. Saved $100’s of dollars thanks.
@@chilseaquesada9674 were you able to figure it out? I actually had to lean all the way in and look at the motor from underneath to figure out where the tab was. I'd recommend you to do the same thing if you aren't able to feel it using just your fingers
Be advised the blower motor has a locking tab. Find it closest to the fire wall...engine direction. Pull it down toward the floor board... THEN the blower motor will turn loose. Lock is toward the radio. And unlock is toward the passenger door. Both if you were sitting in the passenger seat looking at the blower with the glove box off. Im guessing your tab maybe broken or bent of yours turns without addressing the locking tab. Mine was still locked.
Thanks a lot man! I followed the exact same instructions today and was able to get this fixed without having to spend any money at all. As this was my first time doing something like this, it took me a while, but I was able to fix the AC. Cheers from India!
Bro, I did everything except taking the blower motor out. I remember getting a car wash a few days before the issue occurred. Tapped the motor a few times and that solved the issue. 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks bro, wonderful step by step instructions
you can always not remove it at all and take the fresh air filters off under the hood right below the cowl and reach through the vent and pull the leaves out spray it with silicone spray because it's safe for all electrical parts and you can turn it from there also to break it loose. I'm not trying to take anything away from this person or the video. I thought it was great. very well done and professional not to mention that it's how you're supposed to do it
by the way I have owned 2 of these cars and I couldn't get this out until I watched your video. I'm embarrassed to admit that I was a technician that did electrical diagnostics hey I'm human.

Great Video and thanks for sharing your experience with the public .My question is can you test the Blower before you reassemble the glove compartment?
I have the exact same problem. I have changed blower motors before on the E90, on both my cars it has gone bad. As you mentioned, the seal below the windshield is not in the best shape. What is the proper name of it and is it hard to replace?
I've got the same problem on my bmw where there's no air coming out of the front vents but it's coming from the back vents for the back seat i took my blower motor out and it wasn't hard to turn like yours in the video it was easy to turn I put it back in but still no air coming out do you have a idea of what it could be
I have a different problem. The hot and cold air come out but every now and then from above every now and then from below or just hot air. Fans work but the air comes out randomly. perhaps the actuators....
No need to remove the cup holder for this job, not even a need to remove the glove box. It is tight but it works. And why disconnecting the battery when there are 2 connectors at the blower assembly and ignition is off? Thank you for trying.
Hey mine is making alot of noise really loud and work sometimes and sometimes dont. Do you think its the same issue or is it broken and need a new one. Do you have experience with one that is loud moise from .thank you
So I used this video as a blueprint in removing the part. Thanks for that . But guys please be careful I noticed a that when I moved the regulator wire harness the blower would start up and cut out and not have regulated speed at all. It also started to smoke . I then done some research and it turns out like heaps of different models from 2005 - 2011 had been recalled as the wire harness was malfunctioning! This causes the blower to not regulate and can over heat melt the plastic and also set your car on fire. Call BMW as they will have to replace parts for free.
Pingan Ye I tried to replace a new blower motor resistor regulator for my E90. When I reinstall the glovebox back, I connected three cables onto the back of the glovebox. But there is an extra short cable I don't know where to connect. This short cable could be important for the regulator to work. Now, when it is hanging around, the new regulator can make kick turning when I start the car, but does not turn any more. Can anyone tell me how to connect the short cable and how to make the regulator work properly?
I checked the blow motor and it was spinning fine. But still nothing when I turn on the cold or hot air…..I can hear some type of gas hissing noise releasing when I turn ac on at first at start up but it stops shortly and then nothing…..any ideas?
so my bmw doesn’t blow enough cold air or any air really, we replaced the stuff and there’s ac coolant in there but they said it’s in the wiring? i don’t know how to really explain it. do i need to get it professionally done or can i do it myself. could it be the fuses?
There are a few manufacture recalls out for certain E9X cars concerning the blower wiring harness & others, give your local dealership a call and see if they’ll fix it up for you. My wiring was just fixed for free a few days ago
My AC is weird, it works and blows cold in the mornings sometimes but not when it’s hot outside, it just blows hot air out of the drivers side windscreen vent but nothing at all out of the front vents, sometimes the back passenger vents blow cold sometimes they’re hot. I went to check the pressure and potentially fill up the refrigerant and when the guy connected the pressure gauge, it blew cold out of all of my front vents but still got out of the windscreen vent, then after a minute all the cold air stopped and front vents stopped working again and the hot air out of the windscreen vents continued. The pressure was fine and refrigerant didn’t need topping up at all. I took it to a BMW specialist and they had no idea what it was, but are going to work on it this week. So 🤞🏻 they sort it.. anyone have any idea?
Replace the blower resistor, it's a wear item that stops working around 160k km. Oiling the shaft is only a temporary fix of a friction nature that the resistor can't overcome when the shaft is dry. Very easy, just unscrew two screws while the blower is in place and replace. 15 minutes if your good.
