My ford focus had an airlock which is why it was blowing cold air.Fixed by purging it by holding rpms at 3500 for 30 secs, idle for 30 secs, then turn off for 1 min.Repeat these steps 4 or 5 times till heater blows hot at idle.
Heater core is in many cars so high vs engine that it's hard to get all the air out. Find the steepest hill and park front up. Give some revs and that's it.
what if you get heat on one side but not the other.... and sometimes the defrost only works on that side as well... is that the door inside under the dash that isn't opening or closing correctly? we did the water pump/thermo when we bought the car and I watch the coolant temp on my OBD reader phone everyday to see that the coolant temp is getting up to temp. there must be a door under there that's stuck closed???
Great video. I have a 2015 Mustang, whose heater started randomly blowing cold, hot, nothing. At first, I thought it could be one of the actuators under the dash controlled by the temperature knob or a fuse, etc. Turned out to be a small leak in a radiator hose. This caused the overflow reservoir to empty. The low coolant sensor that monitors the overflow reservoir, then caused my heater to quit working properly. Never thought it would be anything like this. Temp fix is to fill reservoir. Long term fix is to replace hose.
Mazda cx5 diesel 2012 heater does not heat at 4am driving to work at all which is a 40 minute drive but when I finish work at 9am it works straight away.
Thermostat opens/closes the "big circuit" which is the engine cooling once it is up to temperature. A thermostat does not affect the car heating because the "small circuit" which is the heating system of the car (it is the same for other machinery. Diggers, trucks, tractors etc.) is always open. That is for winter mostly, so that the car can start defogging the windows before it's up to optimal temperature. You can use even tap water in the cooling system (not recommended) and it should work fine. You might want to change the thermostat when you have to have heating settings on full to stop it overheating.
Hi sir, i have a quick question. My e46 sadan. In the summer my temperature guage goes in the center at a normal operating temperature. Now, in the winyer time while i let my car idle for like 10-20 mins. It reached the 1/4 line before the center line. And when i start driving, the needle on the temperature guage goes back down to cold. So meaning engine is running too cold. Is that because my thermostat is stuck open? But then again in the summer the temperature goes to the normal operating temperature which is just a line over the middle line, whichnis the normal operating temerature. Any thoughts? Thank you
In my car the heat only comes on only after I select 22c. From 18 to 22 no difference only gets warm once I turned the nob over 22 degrees. What could that mean ?
2007 GL450 still no heat unless set to 76. Uber flushed the system 4 times using distilled water and prestone radiator flush. Separately flushed the front heater core. Good flow and no signs of blockage or stop leak in either flush. Engine temp remains perfect so don’t think thermostat. Was about to replace heater core, but placed paper towels everywhere for a couple of weeks and nothing. All forms pointed towards the heater control valve so replaced it. Same things. Any questions?
I have a ccc unit and dont have the variety of setting options available. No matter what I do I just get cold air. I'm thinking the ccc unit may be on it's way out . If it does clap out is my car still usable .

Hello, question, when turning up the heat on that dial, which my dial looks different BMW 525i series, my heating dial was not full. I turned it on full heating but then my cooling is full as well. Do I need to turn my cooling all the way down for my heat to work? I stayed in the car 20 minutes and still no heat.

Mine is cold at 10 mins cool at 15, tepid at 15 and never gets truly hot , not even better than warm, warm half temp takes 40 odd mins, coolant is full, is it likely heater matrix. ? Thanks
So do you expect hot air to be blowing out only after 15 minutes of driving ? Obviously most of the cars I've owned in the past start giving out hot air after about 6 miles of driving.

Bad hearter core or it needs replaced. Possibly before replacing, get it flushed out. See what it will do by first flushing out the hearter core. If it still does this, then replace the entire heater core.

hey there. i got a problem with my Peugeot 508 1.6L diesel. The radiator fan does not work. I found fan resistor corroded and rusted so changed, thermostat sensor also changed to new still the fan does not work at 90*C temperature. i tried bleeding the coolant near the sensor for air in the system, still no luck. what else could be the issue please..??? the car runs smooth when cold but as soon as the temperature rises to above 50*C, the car starts strangling...??? even when i bypass the thermostat sensor and unplugg it to run the fan in full speed, the car still strangles..?? please help with these 2 issues. thanks.

@@dukemaximus1639 Winter is cold, cold means oil doesn't warm up as fast and in many cases can burn some, you can double check that you have the cold weather PCV stuff to warm up the oil faster and then its able to take the pressure without burning some and you could run slightly thicker oil. if its really cold outside I would not go over 5w-40. As long as you keep it topped off though a small amount of oil being burned is not going to hurt you're engine overall but will have you changing ignition parts out on faster intervals. FCP euro ftw.. change them when its good for you not when you have too. They provide lifetime warranty on OEM BMW parts so its easy to get you're car on a maintenance schedule rather than trying to save every penny waiting for things to break. 600k on my e90 and still spins like a beast. Alternator bearing died at 470k and I cut the belt out and drove home. That was the closest Ive been to a break down since 2007. My last new car purchase will be an M series car without a doubt in my mind.

Best antifreeze/distiled water ratio is 50/50, if you live in areas where temperatures don't fall below -20 degrees celsius, if you using only antifreeze without water, than on very cold temperatures antifreeze became very dense and flow of that dense liquid is slower, which means slower engine cooling, and not only that, 100 % concentrated antifreeze will freeze faster than mixture with water in 50/50 ratio! I'm watched some tests in some series llike "Mythbusters" (i don't remember how it's called) where they tested it in all different ratios, and different temperatures, and best results they get is 100 % concentrated antifreeze with one half of water in it (50/50). I don't know what kind of antifreeze liquid people who live in Siberia using, when temperatures falling below -30 celsius, probably they have some electric heaters in engine space, or they leaving engines running all night (they never turning engines off). But in "normal" temperatures -20 to 50 celsius, 50/50 ratio of water and 100 % antifreeze is best!

I have a 2016 kia sorento my heater blows cold air but it doesnt always do it. It will blow hot and then get cold and some days it will just blow cold. I had a thermostat put on it in May and it blew warm for about 2 or 3 weeks and its back blowing on and off hot and cold air. Its also been trying to run hot it hasnt completely ran hot.
I have the same engine. Just a little questions i would ask. I guess you have deleted the dpf but how do you pass the mandatory vehicule check ? Also i got one issu I cannot find always when I’m releasing the clutch and the steering wheel is on all right or on all over the left and just when the vehicule start moving i got big vibrations on the steering wheel. Could be the clutch ? Or breaks ? :(
@Jamil Rehman but being a dual zone wouldn't it make more sense to adjust the temperature on the passenger side without interfering with the driver side?
You have air pocket in cooling system turned full on both side the heater and start a car and kept rpm around 3000 for 10 minutes ,I had same problem my 750 Li and this trick fixed for me !

So here’s where I’m at.. my speakers were bugging out, and I narrowed it down to the head unit. I managed to fix it that, but now my heat doesn’t work. It will only blow cold air. It worked while I was on the way to get the new part, but after I replaced it, nothing. I plugged in the old head unit to make sure it was nothing to do with the new part, but that’s not the case.. Anyone?
Thanks for advising to watch this, however, im pretty sure its none of the issues mentioned in the video, the heater core pipes are both hot, inlet and outlet so i think i can rule that out, it has the right coolant at the right levels, it doesnt have a heater control valve (2009 BMW E92) thermostat has just been replaced as there was an error code for that, system has been bled by mechanic and myself....i've done it at least 20 times since the thermostat was replaced. The actuators/mixers in the dash seem to be working, they certainly move.....i know there's a sensor behind the radio but im sure thats only to do with the climate control, ie, gets to a set temp then keeps it at that temp. Think i may just part ex it against a car with heating pmsl!!!! Freezing out, not fun...i have heated seats but they do nothing to help clear the windscreen or keep me warm. Used car prices are ridiculous, i was looking at buying an X5 but they have just got more and more expensive over the last year, seem to be going up £200 a month or so!
I’m having the same issue. Just coolant flush new thermostat severs bleeds. Nada just cool air. I think we have fcked heater cores possibly man or they are clogged which could be why the pipes are hot but we’re not warming up. Luckily my rear and front defrost work so I think the heated seats shall suffice for now it’s actually not for me it’s for my gf sis
@@startingtech3900 there is dual water pumps one is the main ran off of pulley ussally and then there is a aux water pump which is for multiple climate zones so if the aux pump goes out soo does some of the heat you will never get that toasty hot air just warm
@@GrizzAdamsMusic there is only one electronic water pump on my e90. What model are you talking about ? There is not mechanical fan driven pump on my model. I also replaced the heater control valve nada 👎
@@startingtech3900 broken blend door most likely, i'm having the same issue, and alot of gm and chevy are known for it, i have the 2015 equinox. we are gonna cut into the inside dash like a video showed and check if its that. We replaced the actuator already and it wasn't that.

Check your AC modual- may be bad specially if it changes temp and blower speed at random.

Probably down to low tension piston rings! The worst idea ever created in order to reduce friction in the cylinders to meet emissions.

Hy.i got an mercedes benz a class a170,from 2005.....last year on december my car heating works great..i was on christmas in holliday in another country,when i comeback the heating dont work like before...and after couple of days just start working,no more warn air gived...in dashboard showed me to add more coolant..i put more but heating still dont come...someone said to i reflush the sistem and refill with coolant and that will be fixed and heating will run..i dont know big thing about mechanics..but what you think can be?before used to work perfectly the heating,in the morning at 5 oclock,when was -2 grace outside,in 3-4 minute was warm in the car..all stop after i comeback from holliday....please help me if you know an advice

Best antifreeze/distiled water ratio is 50/50, if you live in areas where temperatures don't fall below -20 degrees celsius, if you using only antifreeze without water, than on very cold temperatures antifreeze became very dense and flow of that dense liquid is slower, which means slower engine cooling, and not only that, 100 % concentrated antifreeze will freeze faster than mixture with water in 50/50 ratio! I'm watched some tests in some series llike "Mythbusters" (i don't remember how it's called) where they tested it in all different ratios, and different temperatures, and best results they get is 100 % concentrated antifreeze with one half of water in it (50/50). I don't know what kind of antifreeze liquid people who live in Siberia using, when temperatures falling below -30 celsius, probably they have some electric heaters in engine space, or they leaving engines running all night (they never turning engines off). But in "normal" temperatures -20 to 50 celsius, 50/50 ratio of water and 100 % antifreeze is best!

E60 545i front vents always cold but every other vent gets extremely hot has anyone experienced this?
Me too. But my heater has heat coming only out of one vent and it is very light heat

@@radianm6 I don't know man. I have 2009 BMW 328i E90 LCI but I don't want to have to spend a few grand for heater core replacement or having to take the entire dash apart myself.

I have a 2016 kia sorento my heater blows cold air but it doesnt always do it. It will blow hot and then get cold and some days it will just blow cold. I had a thermostat put on it in May and it blew warm for about 2 or 3 weeks and its back blowing on and off hot and cold air. Its also been trying to run hot it hasnt completely ran hot.
That parts probably the AC actuator

Your heater core either needs a complete flush, or, flushed out, or you may need a new heater core.

I have the same engine. Just a little questions i would ask. I guess you have deleted the dpf but how do you pass the mandatory vehicule check ?
Also i got one issu I cannot find always when I’m releasing the clutch and the steering wheel is on all right or on all over the left and just when the vehicule start moving i got big vibrations on the steering wheel. Could be the clutch ? Or breaks ? :(

my e87 1 series blows hot air from the passenger side and cold from driver side(both set to 28°C), any idea what could be the reason?
@Jamil Rehman but being a dual zone wouldn't it make more sense to adjust the temperature on the passenger side without interfering with the driver side?
You have air pocket in cooling system turned full on both side the heater and start a car and kept rpm around 3000 for 10 minutes ,I had same problem my 750 Li and this trick fixed for me !

So here’s where I’m at.. my speakers were bugging out, and I narrowed it down to the head unit. I managed to fix it that, but now my heat doesn’t work. It will only blow cold air. It worked while I was on the way to get the new part, but after I replaced it, nothing. I plugged in the old head unit to make sure it was nothing to do with the new part, but that’s not the case.. Anyone?
Thanks for advising to watch this, however, im pretty sure its none of the issues mentioned in the video, the heater core pipes are both hot, inlet and outlet so i think i can rule that out, it has the right coolant at the right levels, it doesnt have a heater control valve (2009 BMW E92) thermostat has just been replaced as there was an error code for that, system has been bled by mechanic and myself....i've done it at least 20 times since the thermostat was replaced.
The actuators/mixers in the dash seem to be working, they certainly move.....i know there's a sensor behind the radio but im sure thats only to do with the climate control, ie, gets to a set temp then keeps it at that temp.
Think i may just part ex it against a car with heating pmsl!!!! Freezing out, not fun...i have heated seats but they do nothing to help clear the windscreen or keep me warm.

I’m having the same issue. Just coolant flush new thermostat severs bleeds. Nada just cool air. I think we have fcked heater cores possibly man or they are clogged which could be why the pipes are hot but we’re not warming up. Luckily my rear and front defrost work so I think the heated seats shall suffice for now it’s actually not for me it’s for my gf sis
@@startingtech3900 there is dual water pumps one is the main ran off of pulley ussally and then there is a aux water pump which is for multiple climate zones so if the aux pump goes out soo does some of the heat you will never get that toasty hot air just warm
@@GrizzAdamsMusic there is only one electronic water pump on my e90. What model are you talking about ? There is not mechanical fan driven pump on my model. I also replaced the heater control valve nada 👎
@@startingtech3900 broken blend door most likely, i'm having the same issue, and alot of gm and chevy are known for it, i have the 2015 equinox. we are gonna cut into the inside dash like a video showed and check if its that. We replaced the actuator already and it wasn't that.

Yes, check for the proper level, if low look at the pump or the hose for leaks.
