    What do you mean by climate control? Selecting auto button? Your auto button is not even on! Do you need to turn on auto to active auto temp, or just adjust dial? Manual says auto turns on cold. So confusing!

    • @IvansBikesBmws
      @IvansBikesBmws  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just adjust the dial and works for me. Never really used auto function that often, but I agree that you have to play with it to get used to it.

      Just took for test drive. I have 328i. The temperature control is not activated unless you press the auto button.

    ATTENTION:I easy fixed the interior heating on my E92 N54 coupe this afternoon. I removed the top firewall cowling and the factory strut brace to get easier access. Removed only the top heater hose at the firewall and blew compressed air through the inlet on the firewall to the heater core. I then put a piece of clear tubing that fit snug in the heater core inlet hole (firewall) connected the garden hose and let it rip. A lot of old grey water came out. I also had previously disconnected the clip on the coolant refill tank small top hose and ran a lot of water back through this end of the small hose. I topped up my coolant tank with concentrated anti boil/ Antifreeze and ran the engine till hot. I took it for a drive and the heater now works. No more cold air and foggy windows. Ready for winter. Also go into your i drive go to settings - Climate control. I selected medium. This can sometimes also help. I am so happy now. The heater core often gets blocked on N54 and other BMW cars. Forums usually say its a stuck thermostat. You can rule this out if all your coolant hoses are hot to touch. I used a digital thermometer. Good luck.

    Actually what this wheel does is when set to cold, more cold air is being blown into the central vents and hotter air towards footwell. To put this in practical example - hot summer day, you had your ac on for a while and it is getting chilly. Most people would turn the climate knibs from 22 to 23 for example. But that's wrong, you just have to move the wheel more towards red. There's also an explanation in technical literature of the temperature hysteresis. I believe it's stepped by 3 deg C in three steps. Cold =-3 and hottest = +3, zero in the middle. Whoever designed this must have loved his house thermostat... :D

    Do you have to have auto/temperature set for this to work as noted, or can it be done manually? Thanks!

    How is it going to blow cool air if hot outside or hot air if cool outside. This controls the vents! Thanks.

    Why is it going to blow warm on your feet?

    • @IvansBikesBmws
      @IvansBikesBmws  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose that is how they made it to work. I guess it does not blow cold on feet, unless you select it in the dial.

    • @jeffzest8393
      @jeffzest8393 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffzest8393 Just select the temperature you like. Jeff Keep in mind that these cars have issues with their heater cores, and that may be issue rather than confusing climate setting. If you got cold on one side and hot on the other, have that inspected. I just wanted to bring that up.

    • @jeffzest8393
      @jeffzest8393 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just read in a forum that the center wheel, in effect, blows air in center vents toward your face about five degrees cooler if on blue and 5 degrees warmer if on red. Who knows? BMW does not even talk about in manual! I do not thin it has any effect if do not have heat or A/C on? And again, you say you do not use auto? You NEED to use auto to get heat, but not A/C. At least in my car. Your observations? Thx.

    I didn't find this feature quite handy, I hate that wheel. Of course, I want my cabin worm up quickly, why I must manually turn that stupid wheel to the warm side? What is the point of an automatic ac unit if it isn't automatic? and you can't turn this stupidity off, you must constantly adjust your automatic ac unit, so stupid. Why would I want cold air to come on my face in a winter morning ride? so stupid. I want just to select the temperature on my ac unit a that's it, no more adjusting.

      My thoughts exactly. Same with my previous VW golf. You have to emove the whole door from the car and unbolt the painted door skin panel just to do something inside the door shell. No holes behind the door trim. Just a grommet and the cable to open the door. Over Engineering at it's F Best. Every time I work on my BMW E92 I dread it. It is a love / hate relationship.
