PART 2 Realflight 9.5 + wireless dongle + DX9 transmitter

  • This is showing how I very quickly setup Realflight 9.5 with a Spektrum DX-9
    and a wireless dongle.
You could easily do the same with a generic wireless or wired dongle.
This is why I do the video from the detected "gamepad".
You could just as easily use the Spektrum Receiver (7+ ch) one instead.
I show how I map each channel manually in case you have to for any generic
    Interface.
I also am reading that the built in ones like Spektrum Receiver (7+ ch)
Are buggy and do not work correctly out of the box.
Hope this is useful and is enough to get you started.

Thankyou so much for this video. What was confusing to you was really, really confusing to me. I have been trying to get a handle on this for 3 weeks regarding the channel numbers not being the physical radio channel numbers. Thanks again for clearing that up. There are not many videos on setting up Real Flight Controller Profiles.

Well, after a few more minutes scratching my head, I got it working great, thanks again to your video.

7:00 - I really needed you to scroll down past Rudd. Rate in that Dialog box all the way to the bottom so I could see all functions. I'm a software developer trying to add Open-TX sound support for Real Flight, but I don't have a copy of Real Flight. Not counting the AETR sticks, these are the functions that can be assigned to controller buttons that I gathered from your video:
    Dual Rates
    Flaps
    Smoke
    Mode
    Throttle Hold
    Ail. Rate
    Rudd. Rate
Ele. Rate (I assume there is one there below Rudd. Rate)
    Reset
    Select
    Cancel
    Up
    Down
The UI navigation functions Reset, Select, Cancel, Up, Down... I picked out from RF8 videos. If there are more in the dialog box that what I listed, someone please let me know if you want them to be supported in Realflight! You've got the dialog box, you can scroll through and see them all, I can not.. I don't play RealFlight ;-) Fire up the game someone, scroll through the dialog box, and let me know in a comment to this. Thanks! For more info about what I'm talking about and doing, search for Choppergirl's SoundPack

This video was made SPECIFICALLY for a couple of my friends that were trying to hook up ANCIENT 6CH Spektrum DX6i transmitters via the trainer port with a generic USB adaptor.
It was not intended to include all kinds of extra functions. (I saw your first unedited comments).
You sounded pissed off that the video was not made for you.
I'll be happy at some point to go back and get you screenshots if it will help you. I love OpenTX.
Also if you are going to develop for a software or platform you REALLY need to have that software in order to do so.
Not having it and then trying to work with it or around it is just plain crazy.

      Actually I am wrong.
This was another quick video I made for a friend to show them how to get a DX9 TX going with a wireless dongle..
      I completely forgot about it.
It's a 9CH tx and yep might be able to use extra functions if they are available.
I will go look and screenshot anything you need later.
Are you specifically after Realflight 9.5?
This is what is in the video.
And that is the latest version.

    • @choppergirl
      @choppergirl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@n8lbv Yeah the latest version will do. A couple screen shots that cover the whole Dialog box where you bind functions to buttons. What I did was made an audio voce file for every function... for example, "Smoke"... that you can bind to your transmitter switch. I'm including a default model with all the buttons bound to voice files in my sound pack, so say... SH for example would do Smoke.
If you load up the model, and press SH... the radio says "Smoke" (or smoke on). And if it's set in RF9.5 to be Smoke for that button, then... there you go. Press Sh, it says Smoke, and your smoke system turns on in the game/sim.
Not just Smoke, but for all/any possible functions you can bind to buttons in that dialog box, which is why I wanted to be able to see the entire dialog box :-) I recorded all the sounds I had seen from your video yesterday but have quite a few more to go for other things so... still in progress, and never too late to add late comers...
My email is in the About me section of my TH-cam Channel at the very top... choppergirl at air dash war dot org
Thank you muchly! Otherwise, you RF0.5 players only get the sounds I was able to see in your video :-p I'm a quad pilot, so trying to do something for the RC wing pilots...

@@choppergirl Crap! losing my mind and not checked up on this video in over 6 months. I honestly can't remember if I emailed you screenshots or what.
And I'm guessing you would have bumped me back here if I screwed up and didn't.
Anyhow hope you are all set.
Look like you posted a flying video about a week ago.
      I'll check it out.

Tutorial was insightful as there is little useable info online for RF9.5. Any chance you will do something for expo and dual rates ?

    • @n8lbv
      @n8lbv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't see why not. But have been super busy at work give me some time.
Dual rates at least is very very simple and is just a switch in Realflight.
Expo may be more complicated and have to be done on the transmitter itself OR on each individual model in Realflight.

You never centered your throttle before calibrating?

    • @stevegladden1364
      @stevegladden1364 ปีที่แล้ว

Good catch as it looks that way in the video - however I actually did have the stick centered even though it looked like it was UP. the calibration was so far off that it showed UP.
I was getting incorrect throttle position, I covered this at 14:04 if you'd like to go see it again.

Answered a lot of questions for me. Thanks. I’m wondering how you have the transmitter programmed? A fancy heli setup, or just generic starting setup?
