- In this video we take a look into what is involved in setting up your Spektrum NX Series Transmitter ( NX6 NX8 NX10 ) to work as a controller with Realflight Evolution. The same method also applies for Realflight 9 / 9.5 / 9.5S . Watch as I do a complete video setup walkthrough showing the installation of Realflight Evolution on my laptop and setting up my NX8 to be used as the game controller..

@@TotalRCOfficial oh ok cool thanks for the reply, if u don't mind me asking, do u have to setup like u know rates, expo, gyro etc, into the remote like u would in a actual plane so it fly's right on the computer

So I can effectively return the wireless sim dongle I just bought. When I purchased the NX8 today I asked if I still needed it and was told I did. This disproves that statement. Thank you for saving me some $$
Yeah they told you a load of rubbish. You just use the charge cable that it ships with :)

Hello total rc I just came across your channel and noticed it was about RF Evolution and spectrum NX8 transmitter! I live in northern Ontario Canada so I just ordered RF Evolution and I have the nx8 transmitter so your video is going to really help me when the software and the new gaming laptop arrive next week. Thank you for making this helpful video!!! I have an unrelated question. Where did you get the little plastic/vinyl covers for your toggle switches? They look like automotive vacuum caps. Are those made just for transmitters? Thanks in advance from North Carolina, USA. (My grandmother was from and lived through the blitz in Stoke-on-Trent . ) cheers!
Hi Jackie, thank you! No these are not specifically for transmitters, in fact they are quite a tight fit but easy enough to do if you can warm them a little. I have just put a link to them on Amazon in the description so you may need to refresh the video to see it :) I can no longer find the orange version but you may have more joy in the US. Stoke-on-Trent is nice, but probably not during The Blitz 😆 I hope you have subscribed!! 😉

You should check with Horizon to see if your tx is compatible, I no no experience of the DXS I'm afraid.

Hello! I'm considering getting a "real transmitter" for my RealFlight sims. I don't have any real world RC aircraft experience - and I probably won't in my area.
I'm wondering, will I have to care for the transmitter batteries like the aircraft batteries? Or can I just run the transmitter with it plugged into the PC? Thanks!
Hey, your PC won't power a 'proper' transmitter so you will have to take care of the batteries. Most ship with rechargeable batteries so that is no drama :)

So, to sign switches for Evolution, I need to set them up in the radio, DX9 in my case, not in the simulator? Is that why I can't find the switch assignment page in the simulator anymore?

@@TotalRCOfficial No big deal, brother. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming that my guess is correct? I guess that means my Interlink Elite from 7.5 simply can't have switches assigned for use with Evolution? I have the dongle to use my DX9, but still curious about the old Interlink.
I see. Sadly I have no knowledge of older versions, Evo is my first go at simulators.

My nx6 won’t connect the computer and real flight sees I’m connected but when I calibrate nothing moves on the screen it’s like it’s frozen
Have you selected the 'Realflight' model you created within the TX?

Thank you, I don't know I'm afraid as this is my first time using Realflight. You should see an option in Steam to upgrade. Talking to Horizon Hobby might be your best bet if you have no joy on Steam. ✔
SO what if it doesn't Register? I followed what you did and RF does not pick it up! the game fires up and runs like it see the NX8 but i have the config menu but nothing is working control wise not sure why?
Have you setup the NX10 so you have a 'model' setup for use as a pc controller?

Real flight is saying my controller is active but it won’t let me calibrate with the joysticks

I had 7.5 worked great now to many problems trying to get realflight to work and trying to setup a steam account (impossible to do ) which is the only way to get it I am looking for a different product that actually will work

I clicked on my Horizon Hobby email link to download the Realflight Evolution but don't see an option to download, nor is it in my Library, any help would be appreciated.
Hi John here is the link to Realflight Evolution in the Steam store. You should see an option to upgrade/buy outright depending what previous version (if any) you have had installed through Steam (I believe some people have got a free upgrade if they previously bought 9.5S) store.steampowered.com/app/2069310/RealFlight_Evolution/

I just got my NX8 (used but cleared for new user), but I do not find my E-flite Draco 2m in the list. Somebody knows?

I did everything step by step and I get only a screen with the jet no menu nothing anything help ? I also have the interlink DX that does the same thing I can't get the menu to show up or to see the controller to calibrate
You may have a hardware/software conflict. I'd consult RF for further info

Thankyou for sharing this would you be able to help me please, im using NX8 and the RF9.5s with the free upgrade to EVO, using a brand new i7 processor samsung laptop. i have installed the software using steam and on RF9.5 when i select simulaion / select controller nothing happens the dropdown box just closes, also when i tyr and select a helicopter i get an error message popup then the program closes down, have re installed severall times off steam to the same outcome :( when i installed the EVOLUTION version pressing escape does nothing and i cant seem to get the menu up either so frustarting anyways thanks fr the video and iv subscribed for futre content ;)
Hi Deej, thanks for the sub. That sounds like you might have a hardware/software issue. I can't help you with the shutting down or error message. You are turning on your transmitter before you load RF aren't you?
@@TotalRCOfficial yes iv since found out that the latest 12th gen Intel core processors don't support the directx software that RF uses, iv since Neen refunded, hopefully one day real flight bring their drivers upto date and I can try again 👍
At least you figured it out! RF is dated to be fair.
I got all going good except when I get to configure nx10, I move everything to center, the click next, but nothing happens everything is stuck on 100%

What's the plug that connects to the remote to the computer
It's the charge cable that ships with the transmitter. I believe it is called a Micro USB cable 👍
@@TotalRCOfficial thanks, the last thing I'm also woundering if I have a Rc helicopter in real life that I'm not shure if I have it set up correctly, can I put the setup i have in the remote I have in real life into the simulator to make shure it works right before I fly it.
I don't do helis so I can't help you with that I'm afraid - hopefully someone will be along to help you!
