And he might also be less than happy about people not keeping close watch on their guns when they have kids. The "Resin limit" has nothing to do with CCP regulation. It is a F2P (usually mobile) game design staple that have been around for years, also commonly known as Energy, Stamina, or Lives. This artificial limiter is there to make you spend money once you run out of that resource. Usually, mobile games have you go on "missions" or "stages" which you have to spend the resource to go on. (Raid, that SW mobile game, lots of other gacha games). Other mobile games have you use this resource when you lose (Candy Crush and other King games).
    Genshin Impact was designed with the mindset of a F2P Mobile Game, though with gameplay typical of a console game. The textbooks on how to design mobile games, one example being Mobile & Social Game Design (2014), almost all say this system is a must have for any F2P game that wish to earn money. Genshin does this particularly well because it actually lets you do content even if you run out of resin, you just don't get any rewards for them. You do get a prompt to buy more Resin however.

    • @BulletSponge71436
      @BulletSponge71436 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Blueberry You can replenish resin with primogems 5 or so times a day. Also, you CAN buy your way through to progress faster (kind of), but that will be too expensive in a long term and inefficient too.

      yeah, its a common game mechanic to force players to not consume all the content at once, thereby making the developers life easier releasing new content, keep users from getting bored too soon. Even Animal Crossing is somewhat similar with time based content, theres only so much you can do a day in game, unlike Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley where you can sleep to go to the next day and rush through the game. While Mobile games that are "free to play," wave the option to rush build or continue playing the game, for money. Very powerful game mechanic to keep players playing and spending.

    As we talk about society building:
    One of my favourite thing about reading on the origins of social and political order is that basically everything essentially starts the same which is:
    _"Small groups form of which the stronger turn to rob the weaker. At some point some of these bandits settled down and stopped to rob, but now extorted the population, making sure they would be able to collect the revenue by warding off other roaming bandits. Thus proto-city states and centralised violence emerged."_
    TL;DR: The grandfather's of states are basically always violent lawless bandit groups.

    To be fair the devlopers of this game (Hoyoverse) have always straddled the line of what is acceptable by the CCP's standards. They've been slowly moving their assets out of China over the years.
    I think the only reason they haven't been doing so at a faster rate is because they don't want to draw too much attention from the CCP, since the government is very much aware of Hoyoverse's success.

    It's actually kind of funny: only a very small portion of Teyvat's population gets granted a Vision, which is how they get to gain control over one of the elements -- and nobody really knows the criteria behind why someone gets one, and why others are denied them. They say one is granted once one's ambition becomes powerful enough, and that's fine for someone like Jean (the leader of a nation's organization) or Beidou (the 'pirate waifu' whose network and fleet is probably the largest in the world), but then there's Klee, whose childish behaviour bespeaks zero ambition, and yet she has a Pyro Vision, and the similarly-young Diona, who got hers after saving a spring fairy despite not knowing what it was. And we only recently found it is not the Archons, but Celestia that grants Visions anyway, which gets even weirder considering how little its involved with the world of Teyvat (and thank goodness, the last time they got involved they destroyed an entire nation). So most of the characters we meet who have Visions get them for reasons that remain unexplained (and one of them didn't even want one because that would mean relying on power given by a god rather than using earned power), and of course because the player controls Vision-holders (also called Allogenes or Genshin), that means most of them (or maybe all of them) will likely end up in the players' rosters by the end of the game. Yes, even the Archons, who don't technically _have_ Visions, but Gnoses instead. It's pretty wild. Incidentally the player character (Aether or Lumine depending on which twin you pick at the start) doesn't have a Vision either, but insteads absorbs elemental control each time they arrive in another country. That's why Max0r says we're 'navigating _Avatar: The Last Airbender_ for weebs.' I can't say he's entirely wrong.
    And I don't particularly care about the info harvesting of the game's anti-cheat since I don't plan on ending up in a leadership role in any corporation or government. The best I've got is Toastmasters, which is a volunteer organization anyway, and even if I end up as International President, I don't think I could offer the CCCP anything of value to them.
    And by the way, the little girl with a talisman stuck to her forehead is Qiqi, a thousand-year-old zombie who was given her Vision in basically the last second of her life before becoming a zombie. And if you think that's tragic, her power then went out of control, and the supernatural beings of Liyue were then forced to trap her in amber until she could control it hundreds of years later. Qiqi can't, both fortunately and unfortunately, form new memories, so she doesn't remember the tragedy of her origin as a zombie. So at least she's spared that. If she does want to remember something, she writes it down in a notebook she carries. As an additional quirk, having found she must obey her master's orders, she frequently gives orders _to herself_ . She also stretches so her joints won't become stiff like those of a typical zombie. The writers thought stuff like this out.

    • @PanmasterAtArms

      @@zirpharis For one, I'm a casual player. I usually play 3-4 other games a day so I can't focus much on Genshin but so far I haven't seen why *other players* one shoting bosses takes fun from *your* game.
      Genshin is not a PVP game, there's not even a leaderboard or anything that you need to compete in, so how does other player's success matter to your game? Are you just comparing yourself to them then? Basically feeling inferior from players that shouldn't matter to you?
      And the events and bosses are made for those addicts? you sure about that?
      Cause I sure haven't encountered an event that I could not clear because I lack the characters or something(they even let you trial out characters for that expressive purpose) It's also the reason why the Primogems are always the first rewards in every one of those event challenges with mora as the last reward for particularly great results so that you can at least have the most valuable reward even if you suck at it.
      And I'm pretty sure the first time you play against those bosses, they nerf the hell out of those bosses(Shogun fight) or buff your characters(Ei fight) just to make it so that every players can clear it.
      As for the repeat clearing of every domains for farming or killing a world boss? who said you need to do it alone? the coop is there for a reason. I for one relied on my teammates in the past to clear Childe's domain every week because of how hard that sh*t was when he just came out(they nerfed him now to make it more balanced)

    • @zirpharis
      @zirpharis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ubeia4857 well first of the competition, ofc there is no PvP, but there is this toxic fandom with "What you can't do 60k with a single shot? HAHAHAHAH" and similar. Especially when you as casual player ask for advice and anything that comes back is making fun of you, that isn't a healthy thing to keep you playing.
      But the main reason, what I already explained, is that upcoming content will mostly be made after the most active player's wishes. Those that do that incredible amount of damage. Ofc they want a challenge, so the bosses will be strong af and what not. So as casual player you need like 5 times, or more, the time to beat those bosses. And that takes the fun out, especially if you have to farm those bosses in an event.
      what was your best DPS damage one hit you had when third area dropped and after? Mine was 30k. Next best was 10k when lucky. I bet you have like at least 60k or more. It is not a matter of being unable to clear the events, but how long it takes. And especially for casual player, they just want to log in, farm their dailies and done. But that takes enough on it's own. Then add an event with a strong boss, and boom, not enough time.
      Again, this is not about the story, but farming and time.
      You mean the coop where you do as casual player like 10% damage of the total at best when playing with addicts? Worst case they even make fun of you, or troll you. And what's the difference of standing in a corner and doing nothing compared to fight with them and getting one hit before sb one-shots the boss? That isn't fun at all. • @SonnyFRST
    @SonnyFRST 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yeah, Max oversimplified Mondstadt and the Wolf Problem.
    Mondstadt went through 2 tyranical rules in the lore (first by the previous god Decarabian, then by an aristocracy) so what MHGR described has already happened actually:
    After the first rebellion, the current god (Barbatos) refused to rule his people. 1000 years later the Aristocracy became despot tyrants, so the second rebellion happened. This time around Barbatos left 4 guardians in charge before fucking off again. One of them estabilished a Knight Order to protect the city and soft-manage it to prevent another tyranical rule from happening.
    As for the Wolf Problem, SPOILER ALERT the "problem" in question wasn't the local wolves but rather a bunch of wolf-like abyss monsters trying to muscle their way into Wolvendom. The local wolves are pretty chill (pun intended) and don't attack unless provoked or hunting food.

    Going to need to give some context, love Max0r and MHGR, but at this point, Max0r was new to Genshin and most of his info came from memes from his own admission and so the information in the video is most comedic but factually is a little off.
    I specialize in Cybersecurity and have been playing both Honkai and Genshin in a Virtual Machine for quite a bit of time, so MiHoYo, now known as Hoyoverse has had an extremely rocky relationship with China especially due to the heavy lesbian influence in Honkai Impact 3rd, Hoyoverse had usually gotten away with having girls kiss and then half-heartedly saying they are just friends however more recently Hoyoverse has been getting bolder by now publishing games outside of China through a company called Cognosphere based in Singapore and rebranded their main company internationally as Hoyoverse to get away with less censorship while China and the CCP has been pushing more censorship.
    On the CN Servers the censorship is mandatory however everywhere else it is optional and Hoyoverse is painfully aware it is pissing off China and taking steps to stop the CCP's crackdown on them.
    Now, most of his lore-based stuff was mostly jokes against the egregious actions of the CCP.
    In reality neither Mondsadt or Liyue are really pro-China, Mondstadt is a Country based on Germany, where the God of Freedom rules without a single parties control and so the Knights and The Church of The God of Freedom share slight rule, the primary antagonist of the game is so far the Abyss Order(order of darkness stuff) and The Fatui(Russians) where the Fatui try to destabilize countries and steal godly powers.
    Liyue is a country based on old Dynasty China. Liyue is interesting because its god directly controls the nation through contracts and prosperity after the god stops its control, the divine beings of Liyue and the humans of Liyue quarrel about how humans should control the country, it later decided that the humans would govern themselves rather than the divine and the people would have to step it up while associating too much control is a bad thing.
    Inazuma based on ancient Japan(the video came pre Inazuma) is a closed nation of heavy control and authority where we oppose the tyrannical government under a rule of a murderous god, join a resistance, and change the minds of the people in charge.
    We later befriend everyone, including the gods and a little of the Fatui, but these are very rough summaries.
    So I personally do recommend Honkai and Genshin, its anticheat isn't any more shitty than anything EA and Activision put out and if you are still worried, try Virtual Machines, but if you feel that anything that might be associated with China is evil that is fine as well. Otherwise its a fun video.

  • @randomguyblank1616
    @randomguyblank1616 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Btw I wouldn't say that Hoyoverse, previously known as Mihoyo, don't have anything against America, or Muslims and the depictions of the Hillichurls and Mondstat are pure coincidence. In the case of the Hillichurls its been seen that they're really just inspired by african tribes, take that as you may. Also they depicted their CEO as a hillichurl, the unusual hillichurl. As for Mondstat, I dunno about you but when I hear wine industry, knights, at least 2 revolutions, and principles about freedom, the U.S doesn't come to mind. Mondstat really is just a mishmash of multiple european cultures ain't a lick of yankee in there.
    Hoyo don't come off as racist or a company with an agenda, trust me if they were always about "China no.1" I wouldn't have played their games for the past 4 years. I do however notice they have a hard on for Germany, Russia (and any former soviet bloc nation), and Japan.

    • @MWkillkenny84
      @MWkillkenny84 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's Hoyoverse, even the "Most Evil" side has its reasons for do what they do (and yes, Abyss Order is included in the list). Not to say that they are always *good* reasons for what they do, but at least there are reasons you can understand (and in some cases sympathize), not, for example, a "BWahahaha, I will steal 40 cakes because!" motivation.
      Even the Not!Russia of Genshin (that as far as I have read seems to me a mix of Zarist Russia and USSR) and the Archon of Ice at the helm are working for a 'good' goal, even if the methods... yeah, they reflect all too well and realistically the sources used.

    Oh yeah. Both _Genshin_ and _HI3_ have characters who, if you get them, make things _much_ easier, especially full-geared. This is, of course, where the temptation lies. You _can_ farm the resources you need to get and arm them for free, but that takes _time_ . And patience. If you want them _now_ , all you have to do is sink about $300 into it. Unfortunately I'm not kidding. And that's to guarantee getting them _once_ . Both games carry systems where copies of the same character allow you to increase that character's powers, and sometimes significantly. In _Genshin_ this is 'constellations,' and in _HI3_ it's how you can make a Valkyrie's battlesuit SS or SSS-ranked.
    Fortunately there aren't many must-have characters, and all characters _are_ viable if you build them to be what you want. Even dedicated healer Barbara can be a DPS unit if you want, and with enough HP, even a tank. I've recently built Kokomi, who is a more recently-released healer because a new area introduced enemies that heal if they attack a shielded character, which was what was anchoring all my teams before that point. Kokomi can not only somehow melt through enemies despite using water, she's also tanky as all heck against most common enemies, and will only get more so as I hunt for better artifacts to buff her with even more.
    Some of the most popular characters to field include the unlucky Bennett due to his buff and heal field, Ganyu because her double-charged shot hits like a rocket launcher, Zhongli because he has the most powerful shields in the game (Noelle has the second most powerful shields, but they don't stay up for as long. Plus she can't drop a meteor on your enemies... yet. She just makes her sword giant and golden instead), and Hu Tao because Pyro hits hard and she can heal herself (Xiangling is an acceptable substitute). People also get characters because of how they look, and Mihoyo knows exactly what they're doing when they release characters like Zhongli, Arataki Itto, Ganyu, Raiden Shogun, and Shenhe. Certainly, almost all Cryo-users are ironically _hot_ . Actually, the only ones who aren't attractive are the little girls, whom I collectively call 'chibikos' so I don't have to ever refer to them as 'lolis,' except for just now.
    But yes, everyone is viable. Except that in _HI3_ you need the most powerful characters if you want to take on the endgame content, otherwise Abyss _will_ flatten your whole team in seconds.

    Something rather interesting that you don't see talked about too much, and that is almost exclusive to video games when it comes to exporting media to China, instead of working the international concept/story/cast of an ip to aline with ccp standards they'll in many cases not even bother and create an Entire Separate Game For The Chinese Market. I'm not joking or over exaggerating sometimes the only thing the International Version and Chinese Version of a game will have in common is the General Outlines and Title, leading to some rather fascinating outcomes and situations like exclusive features for the Chinese version cause "hey why risk complicating an entire International Version with a feature that potentially won't bring in any additional revenue or players" where they use China as a workshop ground to see what concepts stick and if they don't or would only work well in that environment will remain exclusive to said version, as well after a game inevitably becomes unpopular or the guidelines for what is acceptable change these unique version will simply shut down and disappear into the ether becoming the most potent form of Lost Media many people outside of China will never have known existed yet may have had massive impacts on the community it was given to...

    I'm playing genshin for almost a year and I should give you some of my insights, I don't know who suggested you this video but whoever did, didn't do a good job, as it's mostly for players who enjoyed the game a little.......1st this video is almost 100% meme-y or sarcastic, I didn't come to this game from any anime or weeb community, I enjoyed it just because it's a very good RPG game in terms of lore, world-building and combat........some r genuine misinformation here as the malware confusion which really happened at the launch but was removed soon after, the gacha system and enjoying the game is not AT ALL money dependent, whatever you spend is totally luxury. Yeah the genshin social media is a total mess as there r a lot of inexperienced people who can't take any constructive criticism that actually helps the devs to correct some mistakes. And for the "waifu simulator" don't judge a book by it's cover as there is absolutely 0 lewd content in game, in game "the child with superpower" not at all careless toward people, the wolfs don't eat children lol (they r some of the guardians of Mondstadt which is not based on US but Germany), characters here r of age ranging from 8-40, it's not about glorifying underage people (and please don't try to think people play this game for being attracted to children, BTW I love Klee as she is soo cute that I want to adopt her as my child).........I love this game just like I loved Witcher, Assasssins creed, Souls and Zelda games. I'm not at all criticizing you but it hurts when people r fed misinformation about the things you love.

    Second, neither nation is portrayed as better than the other.
    Third. The game is actually telling us to sympathize with the hillichurls.
    Genshin actually has some really interesting takes on religion and Philosophy and draws a lot of inspiration from a lot of different cultures. The game devs have said that they want to spread the beauty of a lot of different cultures to the rest of the world.

    Speaking of the age of consent/marriage: what's the point of being able to enlist in the army at 16, but only drink alcohol at 21?
    Similarly, if I'm not mistaken, in the Netherlands, a girl can work in the red light district at 16, but only vote at 18!
    In Germany, a 14-year-old can bang a 12-year-old, but you're a criminal if you sleep with a 15-year-old, when you're above 21(?).
    Also, why is 18 usually the age of being an adult? I've seen so much irresponsible and immature behavior of legally speaking adults in their late 20s, and I've seen people in their 60s not even understanding basic things in economics/politics, such as that politicians pay either with taxes or inflation... In short, some people are mature enough to survive on their own in their mid-teens, while others never learn critical thinking, nor responsibility and should probably never have kids, drive cars, own weapons, or vote...

      @@bandit7672 I am into women with curves and dislike immature behavior. However, I'd be a hypocrite, if I pretended that I'd never seen a 16-18-year-old that I found attractive. That's not how ages-old evolutionary impulses work. They don't check for RU18... My main grievance however is the arbitrary nature of law. I don't see any logical consistency.

    The age of consent should not be 18. It should be way higher. I've pretty much never seen an 18 year old that made well thought out decisions.

    I tried to play Genshin Impact for a couple of weeks. Even got a few 5 Star characters. I’ll even admit that the elemental combo combat style is pretty cool.
    I put it down like a hyena with rabies and never looked back.
