Wrong definition of meme. Monsoon (at least, in the base game, not in Max0r's rewrite) is talking about the Richard Dawkins definition of meme, the idea that ideas, called memes, spread and compete for "survival" like genes do, seeking to "stay alive" as long as possible in the public conscience, the public culture.

@Gabe_Gaming Huh, never thought I'd get asked that. There actually is a story to this. Here we go:
Way back in the middle school, my younger brother introduced me to the then newish Runescape. Thank God I never got into it as he did and bounced, but I needed a username.
I loved the crap out of E-102 Gamma from Sonic (still do) but a Greek letter was obviously taken way before I came in.
Maxis sounded Greek/Latin enough for me to try Gamma Maxis.
Later after I left Runescape and its interminable grind far behind me I decided Beta Maxis matched my first and last name's first initials.
So beta, as in not the alpha, or first for humility and beta as in trial/prototype to symbolize trying new things, and Maxis as in putting in a good/maximum effort.
I had no idea Maxis was also a company as I was never into the Sims. By the time I found that out EA ruined that franchise like Abrams and Rian Johnson ruined the new Star Wars.

Memes in the way Monsoon actually referred to them is a psycho-social construct of inherited ideas and concepts put forward by Dawkins.
A set of ideals and structures that makes up society.
Most common comparison is to biological genetics in how they are copied, translated, replicated, mutated and changed across those that carry them.
It’s essentially the ideas and ideals that make up the cultural fabric of society, so Monsoon’s nihilistic tirade about religion as a joke and free will a myth is a camped out strawman-nihilistic take on memetic influence in a deterministic conclusion.
Did we truly make decisions or our own values or were they imprinted on us since the moment we are born? and therefore become who we are through social and cultural indoctrination our whole lives because we’re subjected to the memes of society constantly.
Things like law, religion, social norms, behaviour, fashion, opinion and more. All we are, a byproduct of what ideas survive in our society.

Great video. I wanted to add some context for some of the points about the original game that you sort of noticed but which are hard to pick up through Maxor's treatment in the video.
Firstly, and again I know you picked up on this, the entire joke about Raiden wearing a sombrero was that Raiden is being stupid, and it's a terrible disguise. Maxor's video cuts dialogue from the game in which the passing civilians converse with each other (in Spanish, though I don't speak the language and can't attest to its quality... in fact, for all I know, it was Portuguese) about how Raiden looks like a freak, before concluding that they better leave because they want no part of whatever the hell this is. Some people see this outfit and accuse the game of being racist for including it, but it really, really isn't (arguably the character, Raiden, _is_ being a bit racist though).
Secondly, I can't tell if you made this connection or not, but the robots in the sewer are not attacking civilians at random (as far as I remember). The kid they're attacking is one of the test subjects who had escaped from the base, and they're attempting to retrieve him before he escapes and exposes them. I can't remember, but it might also be the case that the robots you fight on the way to the base are part of a search party rather than a guard patrol. I might be making that up, though. Also, in the original game, the child doesn't speak to Raiden in Spanish but in heavily accented and grammatically poor pidgin English. The game provides subtitles because it is hard enough to understand that it justifies them, but he is technically speaking something comparable to English if you listen. This might make it difficult for automatic translation software to provide Raiden a translation. Or it might not, I don't know (also, in the game, Raiden does understand the kid... mostly).
Finally, while I don't mean to invalidate anything you said in response because the concerns you brought up are genuine and pretty insightful, Monsoon was not talking about internet memes in the game. He was talking about memes in the original sense that Richard Dawkins used them. A meme, in this sense, is a way of understanding how ideas and cultural beliefs spread or die off. A meme is an idea that occupies space in the human mind and can be communicated to other humans. There's only so much space in the brain, so thoughts and cultural beliefs are, in a sense, in direct competition with each other. Thus, in a model comparable to how genes are spread, the concept continues to proliferate in the population if it remains useful and dies off if it isn't. Monsoon's monologue is essentially a pseudo-philosophical take questioning free will in a species whose core values are shaped by history in ways they don't even understand and could theoretically be manipulated by outside factors. Considering his spiel is pretty much directly plagiarised from Metal Gear Solid 2, a game whose message you shout out early into the video here, I didn't expect you to completely let the opportunity to bring the subject up pass by.
Again, great video. Looking forward to part 2.

I think the biggest issue with healthcare in the US isn't that the last period of someone's life is what costs the most. It's that people have to choose between dying or living. Medical debt is the single biggest cause of bankruptcy in the US. People have to choose whether their kids are going to be orphans, or poor. And from a European mindset, that is just unacceptable. There should be a system to catch these people from falling into bankruptcy.

She asked to stop trying and just wanted grandpa there at the end. and it came with them holding hands and saying goodbye.

Now, I feel like pointless and barely life-prolonging procedures aren't the main issue of the american health system, considering that a lot of countries get better results for a lower cost.
    I'd say there's a few main factors:
1: Overprivatization. Conservatives seem to think that privatizing public services is going to make them more efficient somehow, but that's just not supported by the data or past experiences. Fact of the matter is, the goal of any business is to achieve maximum profit at minimum effort, meaning a private health provider will aim to charge as much money as possible for doing as little for you as possible. The overarching theory of neoliberals seems to be that in order to remain competitive on the market, a company will have to provide some minimum standard of service, however the issue is that each company competes with other companies that also seek to make as much profit with as little effort as possible, meaning that the end consumer only gets to pick between expensive services that offer bad service.
The market works well for regulating products that people might want but don't technically need (because in that case, providers also need to make somewhat reasonable offers because otherwise noone is gonna buy it), but fails miserably for things with a guaranteed universal demand, such as water, energy and healthcare. People simply need those things, and if the only offers they can get are bad offers, then they will take those as well.
2: Underregulation. How much money can a pharmaceutical company charge for life-saving medication? How many nurses in relation to the amount of potential patients does a hospital need to employ? How much money should a hospital be allowed to charge for various things (such as food, lodging and care)? How much do the nurses need to be paid?
The issue is, that in a free market economy, all those things are decided by the CEOs and shareholders. And those will minimize any spendings and maximize their own baseline, to the detriment of patients and staff.
There is a reason why insulin in the US costs many times as much as in most other parts of the world, and that reason has nothing to do with how much is spent on producing the stuff. The reason is that US companies realized noone is stopping them from raising prices, and the diabetics themselves can't just not take it because they need it to survive, so now it's gotten six times as expensive as it used to be 20 years ago.
On the plus side, there's actually a bill in congress seeking to cap those prices all the way down and it's recently cleared the house, so with a bit of luck (that is to say, if Joe Manchin decides he doesn't want end up on the shitlist of every last diabetic in the country) it should also be able to get through the senate, which would mean the people who actually need it won't have to spend like half of their paycheck on meds every month whilst also somehow covering all of their other bills.

Having worked in the medical field for several months. I concur and agree with your assessment. That instead of prolonging a patient's suffering. Instead resources should be allocated to make their end more dignified and comforting.

the cowboy look is pretty common in mexico, local farmers dress like that pretty much anywhere, and its a popular type of fashion, the "Norteño" culture comes from sonora, chihuaha, nuevo leon and tamaulipas, there is also a different type of cowboy types it the states in the middle and south west of mexico, more commonly associated with narco culture specially in sinaloa.

the swords are High Frequency. They vibrate really fast and have electricity or something in them, so you can cut all this stuff and its sci fi.
And Monsoon really does go on a monolouge about memes. when it says real in game dialouge, he means it

Concerning the conversation at around 46:12 the main reason police use m4's is that they are cheap due to the government selling off stock for cheap to police departments. To my knowledge most police use hollow point or jacketed hollow point to combat the issue you raised (overpenetration). If I were a cop and had a choice I would rather be using a P90 which keeps the armor penetration of 5.56 that is necessary to deal with dangerous suspects (like the North Hollywood Bank Robbery Shootout of 1997) and (mostly) prevent overpenetration with the 5.7 cartridge. To learn more about North Hollywood Bank Robbery Shootout of 1997 I would recommend this video: th-cam.com/video/NsFg1833M88/w-d-xo.html

Losing an arm is actually a symbolic thing. Cutting an arm off is the way of punishing thieves in some cultures (Actually, pretty much any culture had it at some point in development). Sometimes it's done to show deliverance of justice before adding personal grudge (Which is punished by death, offcourse), sometimes it's done as means of cutting someone's arrogance short (In a way, arrogance is thieving, attempts to reach for things you never meant to have).

The hands are also THE mean of action. To cut off one's arm is to symbolically halve his strength

The word Meme as we actually use it is more of a nickname. The actual meaning of the word basically means ideals and philosophy that can be spread by simply having another person exposed to it, so basically it’s contagious ideas

and to this day. Yes it still mean that things. memes are just a type of information that spread really easily.

In the game raiden actually goes to Guadalajara instead of Mexico city. They even give some trivia about the city through the comms.

Raiden’s blade is supposedly some kind of carbon nanotube lattice combined with a high frequency cutter. That’s some high sci-fi stuff.

that top secret facility not being guarded from the outside reminds me of the later series of ben 10 where one of earths' main plumber (space police) facilities is under ground and the entrance is disguised as an actual plumbing equipment shop, where you can actually buy plumbing tools, and stuff like that, they've got absolutely NOTHING for exterior guards.
also I definitely suggest reacting to "Why Does Metal Gear Rising Keep Getting More Popular?" by Jacob Geller.
