Very good, Adam. A thorough gameplay review. I hope that they fix the issues with this game, and hopefully, these patches that are done will be applied to future Gundam VR video games. It has the potential to lead to some great work down the road.
Thanks for the honest review. Bit bummed out you cant sit and take in the story mode at your pace. But do wish they make more Gundam stories in VR (also Macross /robotech please)
I really liked the story mode. The animation was great, and the 360 degree views were fun. For the MR game mode, I actually couldnt play it because once I grabbed the Gundam, the game wouldnt progress. It wouldnt start. The hangar mode was interesting though. It was cool to look at the different mobile suits in 1:1 scale.
Great review! I agree with you on the gundam simulator thing why Bandai/Namco would not produce a full VR game with that premise. I'm sure a lot of gundam fans would like such game. I mean, take EVE: Valkyrie for example. Why not take that as the base and add gundam elements to it, e.g., beam saber, special skills like BFGs, dragoons, etc. Bandai kept releasing the same old Breaker series which they just add new mechs and new eye candy. Perhaps Bandai doesn't want to take the risk of investing into a new game but rather continue to milk proven ones.
The story mode's weird combat controls makes sense when you figure out that they're designed to support hand tracking gameplay, which has no buttons to push lol
I'm disappointed a bit with this because it was initially advertised as a VR anime movie, what we got was a bunch of pixelated cutscenes made in the game engine with poor animation, (and a couple of 360 degree anime videos that WEREN'T in stereoscopic 3D) with a few playable sequences which weren't really needed. What really should have been done is a full-featured movie but in VR with traditional animation (or CG animation at the very least), but in stereoscopic 3D, otherwise the scaling gets all wrong (when characteers move close to you they look like giants). Something with the battle animations from Gundam Seed Freedom would be insane in VR. Although they probably went the realtime route because of 6DOF. VR360 videos restrict your ability to move and you can just look around.
What's new with Gundam? Nothing. Delta Zayin is just another variant of an old model but with a different color and name spelling. Similar old story recycled. Nothing really new. Build divers, requiem, silver, seed, uc century... Nothing new. Maybe only mercury.
You know what's better than this ? Yes the Silver Delta Gundam (Delta Zayin) HGUC got announced as P Bandai exclusive
I still have the Silver Bullet in the backlog waiting to be assembled once I can get more space to fit more kits 😅

I agree! I'm glad you brought up in the other comment how this is how the gunpla builder meta verse could work.

Like all your points in this. Think there is a good G Gundam game in these ideas as well. Along with the ideas you put forth.

Glad you liked it. Sorry to hear it's not working. Maybe we can figure something out? Hit me up on discord if you want some troubleshooting help.
Thanks for the review, was expecting to pilot a gundam in vr. Thats disappointingg honestly lol
Yeah I get it. If you think Gundam + vr, it would be a mobile suit piloting game. hopefully some day!
Imagine something like Microsoft Flight Simulator, but with Mobile Suits and in places on and off earth that are shown in the different anime.
@@der_saftmon That's awesome!

Glad you agree with that! Hopefully the more we talk about it the more they'll realize that's what needs to be done!
god damn it bandai, why is it so hard for them to just simply do another game like journey to jaburo

Some sequences still requiring pressing the trigger. Like shooting the rocks, the grapple.
@@GundamExplained oh...you make a good point. Then I have no idea :P
I enjoyed it. If they patch better controls during the story, I'll play it again.

I hope bandai and sunrise make anime of Gundam Silver Phantom story and puts it on blu-ray.I game was on playstation5 and VR2 wound get it.
I don’t like the ending
Agreed. The ending was sad, but not uncommon for Gundam.
@@toddgraves3447 the female in the end…. She is psycho….
I think this should have been a movie not VR
Fun yet extremely shallow. MR minigame is fun for an hour. Definitely not worth the entry fee
To each, their own! For something that cheap, I had a blast!

Yeah in UC, don't expect much new without breaking canon. That's why they continue to do alt-AUs, in order to keep it fresh for others.
WHY? Why..... why did they make this?
Well, tbf, it is fun.
To make people enjoy it with vr capable system
to be the "world's first feature length vr animated film"
