Ironically they used the jump sound in Sonic Generations
More importantly, being developed by entirely different studios. Sonic CD being developed in Japan, and Sonic 2 in the US. The Sonic 2 team would be the ones to go on to make Sonic 3 & Knuckles
I thought the jump sound sounded kinda muffled too
They may have been developed at the same time in different parts of the world, but there was still a gap of TEN MONTHS between their releases! And quite frankly, I find it very hard to believe that none of CD’s developers played Sonic 2 once it had come out in Japan and thought, “Huh. This game has some pretty great design elements. Perhaps we should be incorporating them into the Sonic game that WE’RE currently developing!”

Things you could've added too:
1. Why do USA and Japan have different soundtracks? Why not made only one soundtrack for all countries or like in Sonic CD mobile to choose which one you want!
2. Peel jam and spindash basically gives you same speed but you can get hit by doing peel jam!
3. Why does Eggman here look fatter than he is?
4. Japanese intro cutscene music is basically Green Hills zone from Sonic 2 8-bit!

For the second one, the peel out is actually a bit faster than the spindash.
Apparently, the soundtrack was changed because it didn't fit into a "game", so the composers made something more appealing to an American audience..... or something like that! But either way, I hate the American soundtrack!

At the 2nd part of metallic madness 3 there are so many bumpers and the platforms spin and there is a tube thing blocking you so it makes it harder to complete

Theory says Sonic CD take place before Sonic 2 but it was launched in 1993, after sonic 2 wich was in 1992. BUT the development start after sonic 1 and before sonic 2. This explains the spindash and maybe the teory

Sonic CD and Sonic 2 started as the same game, but due to the sheer amount of ideas and the need to strike while the iron is hot, they split the game in half. Sega of Japan took the time traveling concept and worked it into a game for their upcoming Mega CD while Sega of America took a more traditional approach for Sonic 2. Although it cane later, CD is actually the one that came first developmentally and canonically. You can even unlock a secret picture of Tails where he says "See you in the next game."

The Japanese soundtrack fits a lot better. Also, I have to say that while Sonic 1 & CD are supposed to speed-based games, they are actually games about momentum. Yes, really. And that statement has never been as truthful than it is here. CD is a momentum based platformer with emphasis on slow-paced exploration.
That is why it is so mazy to some but expansive to others.
US special stage is better than JP special stage
Some people judge the US Soundtrack for having creepy music but there are some happy ones like Wacky Workbench Present and Good Future, all of Stardust Speedway, Sonic Boom, Quartz Quadrant Good Future, and Tidal Tempest Good Future to name a few
Wish there was an option to mix the soundtracks when you beat the game.
Example, being able to set the intro music to Sonic Boom, and using the Japanese metal sonic theme.

3:54 it was added in by one of the people that worked on sonic cd and it was suppose to be his face on sonic as a comedic secret, with the japanese boss battle music and the text "Fun is infinite -Majin" which scared alot of american disc owners because of the creepy music and majin also means devil in japanese. turns out majin is the is the nickname of the developer that put that spooky easter egg in
Collecting the time stones does have a secondary benefit: you no longer have to travel to the past to destroy capsule generating robots; you’ll automatically get the good future just for reaching the goal at end of the level so maybe no super sonic transformation but at least it’s better than nothing...

The opening cutscene was really great.
The 3-minute death counter is actually an Easter egg I find kinda cool and it displays his “gotta go fast” personality. Technically, he doesn’t die, he just leaves the server. The only thing that dies is your run.
The Time Travel concept in Sonic would be cool if they did it right (exploration * speed + time travel = right)
No complaint on the jump sound.
Yeah, springs into spikes are really annoying.
The orbs weren’t too annoying, just time consuming.
The pinball machine battle was annoying the first few times, but I’ve done it enough to where I can do it pretty quickly. I wish it wasn’t trial and error, though.

Maybe the battles were too easy. I can’t say it was too far from regular battles.
Level designers for Wacky Workbench were just that… wacky. I did hate all the bouncers on the ground, especially with the tasers above to get launched into.
The 1-Up ‘Yes!’ is kinda bland.
Yes, CD’s level design sucked butt. Either you could go to the past and spend more than half the time you have before you die searching for generators and holograms, or you could struggle through the infuriating special stages. Now, as a perfectionist, I strive to get the good ending. I really don’t know why the level design is so inconvenient and inconsistent. Sonic 3 displays the right way to do exploration and speed in the same game. CD did not.
The US music is always either more bland or more terrifying than the JP music. Before I found out the US music was written by different people, I wondered if Naofumi Hataya was pissed at America for bombing them so harshly, and wanted vengeance by terrifying our next generation or just giving them inferior music.
The sound test does have a few neat Easter eggs in them. The face in 46, 12, 25 is just Naofumi Hataya pixelized and pasted over Sonic.
The special stages have very clunky and inconsistent 3D models.
Stardust Speedway does have some good music (in JP version), especially the Bad Future music.
And, yes, *AMY ROSE IS THE MOST ANNOYING CHARACTER IN THE SONIC THE HEDGEHOG FRANCHISE*
