Without light pollution and clouds, you see something incredible. The vast array of stars of the Universe, illuminating the night sky. For a moment, you feel like are driving on the highway of the Universe. Parking the car, you all exit and head for a large hill. Up on top of the hill, you can see the beauty of the infinite cosmos. Everyone decides to start their own party right here. Hearing that, you take out your phone and play a song. The same slow dance song that was starting to play at the party. Without another word, you and your partner dance the night away, the light of a billion stars shining down.
This will always be the best version of these videos, so many clips chosen specifically for being on beat, literally ALL of them are on point and don't feel like a missed opportunity except maybe invincibility.
The type of funk in the JPN OST will never be in a US version of a Sonic game. Americans, rather, the majority demographic, have no rhythm and can't appreciate this soundtrack, which is why you have a "funked down"/lame version for the US soundtrack.
4:11 I always thought the voice sample was saying: "Woah! Forget this place!", but it turns out it was a sample of some stage banter for a live KISS concert. They were queing up "Hotter than Hell" when one of the bamd members said: "I tell yall, we're going to get this place, Hotter than HELL!" Omiting the hotter than hell part of it, that's what the voice is actually saying.
i realized why past sounded so different from the other 3 versions of tracks it's because the music's going back to when that type of music was expected or something along those lines *_that's absolutely genius and i love it_* UPDATE okay so apparently it's on a separate chip that's pretty much identical to the one used on the genesis (or maybe it is just the one used for the genesis) but even then that's still really cool
The Past tracks are actually played by the Genesis itself, rather than the SEGA CD. This is also why only the Past tracks are consistent between JP and US - they're physically harder to replace.

The character there is Majin. Which translates to devil. So it's creepy in every version except the song is fire in JPN/EU version and in US version its creepy in every way

There's also that early version of Palmtree Panic Past that someone found in one of the betas that's called Salad Plain and it was in proper CD quality unlike the final version, it sounds really nice.
I love how all the "Past" stage themes are MIDI sequences that use the Genesis sound chip, rather than MP3's burned to the CD like all the other tracks. Makes them sound so off, different, yet right at the same time for what they were.
Man, it has been SO LONG since I have heard this game's soundtrack! I never played the original Sega CD version, since I wasn't alive back then, but I absolutely loved this game when I used to play it on my tablet!

Actually, that's wrong! It actually uses a sound chip more in line with the SNES' sound chip! 8 channel sampled audio.
They had space to make the music on the mega cd hardware but didn’t which I’m happy about
The Sega CD has a built in secondary sound chip, that's what it uses for the Past themes

I love how all the "Past" stage themes are MIDI sequences that use the Genesis sound chip, rather than MP3's burned to the CD like all the other tracks. Makes them sound so off, different, yet right at the same time for what they were.

Man, it has been SO LONG since I have heard this game's soundtrack! I never played the original Sega CD version, since I wasn't alive back then, but I absolutely loved this game when I used to play it on my tablet!
I love the goofy movies SO much, so seeing 4:49 and seeing how well it fits, and how much i want to play this song when that scene shows up now, just makes me smile. Idk why it just works
