  • This video shows me comparing Drift Mode "5", "off", and "3" to each-other. With the Clubsport Wheelbase V2, keep the following in mind:
    DRI: "off" = 3 ----- adds the most artificial resistance/dampening/friction
    DRI: "1" = 2 ----- adds slightly less artificial FFB resistance
    DRI: "2" = 1 ----- adds even less artificial FFB resistance
    DRI: "3" = 0/off ------ no artificial FFB applied, only the wheel's natural resistance, this is the wheels neutral setting
    DRI: "4" = +1 ------ adds some artificial FFB boosting, a sort of negative dampening
    DRI: "5" = +2 ------ adds the most artificial FFB boosting / negative dampening
    More details: isiforums.net/f...
    P.S. The Porsche 918 RSR rim, or any rim, doesn't make a difference to how the Drift Mode works. It's the same with the BMW GT2 rim, the Formula black/carbon rim, etc.

    How is the wheel all these years later? My v2 with DRI off looks like yours off but my DRI at 5 is no where near free spinning like yours! It certainly doesnt accelerate or even act free spinning at all??!!

      Sorry for the delay in replying. I don't have the wheel anymore. I got rid of it years ago. The reason DRI 5 is not free spinning nor accelerating for you like mine could be due to Fanatec possibly changing the DRI settings or what each number corresponds to with driver/firmware updates.

    I have to use my Formula V2 with drift mode -5 or the wheel oscillates too much and also it drifts my car on a corner for no reason lol. Off doesn’t even mean off lol

      Haha ya, Fanatec changed the wording of what's truly off. It changed throughout not only different wheels over the years but also different firmware versions of the same wheel. Besides my video being too long (I tend to ramble), the info may not be relevant anymore due to the changes I previously mentioned therefore I'm thinking of removing this video entirely from youtube.

    recently acquired and have trouble installing the equipment for the first time, making the settings to use. How do I use the settings for the PS4; V2 base; wheel Porsche 918 RSR, V3 pedals and SQV 1.5 exchange. Thank you for your attention and I hope indications of owners of these products to exchange information and suggestions. I am Brazilian and not mastered English. thank you

      +Spinelli How should I upgrade v3 pedal firmware? Questions connecting cables . Thanks for attention.

      +Paulo Ricardo You need to have the pedals connected to the PC via usb, and have the wheel disconnected from the PC. This way, the PC recognises the pedals on their own, and thus can update the firmware. Once that's done, disconnect the pedals from the PC, plug the usb from the wheel base into the PC, and connect your pedals directly to the wheel base with the supplied cables :) Tricky but it works.

    What is the preset when you first get the wheel?

    Why 'from a technical standpoint' should there be no resistance with drift mode off? This argument makes no sense.. you do realize that these wheels are trying to simulate a _real car_ right? I don't know what kind of vehicles you've driven but, personally, I grew up in my dad's autobody shop and worked at several dealerships so I've driven a *lot* of different vehicles and I have *never* been in a vehicle that could spin it's wheel as freely as drift mode 3 while standing still. If you can remember, in a car we aren't just turning a wheel with as you said 'belts and some metal behind it', even if you're talking about a car with power steering, even electronic steering for that matter, when the 'vehicle' is standing still you're forcing the tires, that are designed to stick, to twist on the ground, hence resistance. Now if you were loaded into a game and moving forward, just like in a real car, the steering would become lighter. Now the reason they have settings that are 'heavy' or 'harder' to turn is because not everyone buying this wheel is sticking strictly to drifting. A lot of us enjoy other forms of motorsport as well, and quite a few of those forms have vehicles that don't include power steering. So those other settings allow us to _simulate_ those as well. If all you wanted was a wheel that you can fling back and forth like that you should have saved yourself a lot of money and just bought a super cheap ffb wheel since you obviously don't have a need for the power the csw produces and a basic wheel can imitate drift level 3-5.
    Anyways, I'm not trying to roast you, I'm just very curious what you're basing your information on/trying to, hopefully, teach you why I believe this information is incorrect.
    P. S. One or two ( _maybe_ three at *_absolute_* most) examples is plenty, doing it over-and-over-and-over again gives no additional new info. If you want to build viewership keep it concise and make sure you're as knowledgeable as possible about the subject of the video.
    🏎️ Race hard, fair, and fast my guy🏁

      Hi Michael. Sorry for the delay in responding.
      "Why 'from a technical standpoint' should there be no resistance with drift mode off?"
      DRI off should have 0 artificial resistance added (only the unit's natural, physical resistance) because the "off" setting should mean essentially "0". Think of it this way: imagine the DRI settings ranged from --5 to +5 with -5 having the most resistance, 0/"off" being neutral, and +5 having the most "boosting" (that sort of negative damping or artificial accelerating I described in the vid). However, Fanatec's numbering system is, in my opinion, not as clear to understand. They instead made DRI setting from 0/"off" to 5 with 0/"off" having the most resistance, 3 being neutral, and 5 having the most boosting. I was just talking about how they numbered it. I have it listed in the video description. I believe Fanatec changed the numbering system in a future driver/firmware update to be more intuitive if I remember correctly.
      When I used to race F2000 open-wheel racecars, I've turned the wheel on them when they were lifted up in the air for repairs & maintenance and the steering wheel would turn very easily.
      A basic, cheapo wheel will most likely not be able to imitate the Fanatec's DRI level 4-5 (boosting). That is something that needs very little natural physical friction & damping (such as the Fana wheel in this vid) and also the boost feature Fanatec implemented in their driver to speed it up. A super cheap wheel, especially in 2015, would not have the speed nor acceleration the Fanatec has.
      I appreciate the comments, positive & negative. I agree, I would myself cringe watching this vid when seeing how many times I tried showing things, lol. Thanks for all the feedback.
      P.S. I'm not interested in drifting nor have I ever been.

    Have you played with a thrustmaster belt driven wheels dont love freely lol your funny man play with it on its smooth enjoy you obviously have no idea at all what your doing or talking about lol it's called dampening and if you would go into your settings and check you can turn that off lol your hilarious man most people with the v2.5 have to turn it to -5 because it's so free flowing some people like a little drag a little resistance is ok

    • @Spinelli__
      @Spinelli__  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I've been simracing for 15 years and have owned most wheels including Thrustmasters. What part am I wrong about? Actually, you're wrong about damping. Damping doesn't get added from drift mode, frictiom gets added. Damping is another setting entirely. Nothing I explained in the video is wrong. If you like a bit of friction that's fine, I was just explaining the differences and that drift mode 3 is the true "off."

      @@Spinelli__ dude dmapening does add drag lol it adds resistance again you dont knwo what youe talking about obviously and yes you can also add friction this was friction and dampening but there is a fix thats what I was saying you didnt fix it yet you can either wya sounds like you need to sell your v2 and get the v2.5 I have because you wouldnt midn this hell at 0 there is literally no dampening or friction to the point where modt people pit the drift mode at -2 to -5 rven at -5 it seems to be less then yours 1 point ill make have you ever sat in a car and spun the wheel while sitting in place its very ahrd to move so again its dtill closer to being real that way hell it still moves with much less resistance then a planted car

    • @Spinelli__
      @Spinelli__  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reviewforthetube6485 What do you mean I didn't fix it? I never even said anything was broken, I'm just explaining the drift modes, that's all. I don't think you understood what I was saying in the video. I never said anything is broken.
      Turning the wheel in a car that's not moving is more hard but games simulate that, that has nothing to do with drift mode, that comes from the force feedback from the games' physics.
      The Fanatec V2 I had here worked great, no need to get the 2.5.
