I watched this video on my laptop quite a while back and remember it taking my FPS from 7-9 to 60+
I now have a gaming pc but wanted better performance and have been looking for this vid for so long but now I have magically found it and done everything. I now have so much FPS
For anyone still wanting screensavers on their computer, when you get to the System Properties; Performance Options @ 7:40, make sure you also click "animate controls and elements inside windows." This will ensure that your screensaver still functions, if you so desire. Not sure the effects on performance this will have, but since this whole video didn't really boost my performance much, I imagine activating this won't harm it anyway.

Beginner tip: If you are using a GPU with 2 PCIe Connectors, make sure to use 2 PCIe cables from the power supply and don't use the linked cable as it does not give as much wattage. If you have a high end card, this is very useful. But I have not heard much talk about this. This will add additional speed on high end cards. If you want, I might make a video on this if anybody needs assistance with that. Maybe sometime in the future.

As super helpful as this has been its in need of updating. I've been able to guess my way through based on your advise, some settings have been renamed or moved, your recomended software has changed a bit.. .ect. Thank you though! It still helped me quite a bit.
An overwhelmingly helpful video. Normally windows tweaks produce barely any noticeable results, but this really smooths things out, and it's not just placebo effect. Even in 2020 when some of these settings have been modified a tad, it still works well. Was not expecting such a great video when I searched because of the comparative quality of all the others.
It even holds up in 2022, i reset my C: drive almost every year because it just has windows and every time i forget this video exists, come back to it a week later and realise damn my pc really is much faster

All these tips probably increased my performance by about 30%. This video was really well made and you just earned your self an extra sub.

There is an easier way to get to the temp folder directly..... use %temp% with the run command. One thing that will help anyone following this guide is ALWAYS restart after changing a system setting if a restart is suggested. You also want to back up the registry any time you plan on making changes to it, this is so that if something doesn't work, you can always restore the backup by double clicking the backup file.
Well... i saved a backup file but it’s not detecting it.
@@gregorkolon8600 check your documents folder, it might be there. If you still can not find the backup, search for *.reg. You can tell if its the right backup file by looking at the date/time stamp.

The bootup timer was nice. Mine was at 30 and when I put it to 5 my computer literally took less than 10 seconds to be fully ready. GOod stuff man.

Awesome info. I wanted to share that I found 'CPU Core Parking Manager v.3' has been rereleased, and it is now called 'Quick CPU' latest version 3.1.6.0 released 4/30/2020 - brand new. It is so good and worked very well. Everything went as you showed and explained with some minor variations with Windows upgrades, etc but nothing I couldn't locate. Kudos. Now for the proof.

The only problem I have with video's like these is that you tell us to change "x" to "y" but you don't really explain what it does. Most of us can quickly google and find out what changes are made but some of us just blindly follow this and have no clue what they're doing. Should add a little explanation to everything you recommend people to change.

I don't usually give big reactions to videos like this, but this was great, I followed most the steps i understood, and I wen't from 180+ fps in minecraft to 210+ fps in minecraft (because i'd already done a lot of the steps in this video and they increased it a lot already, but I don't think I have to worry about fps anymore) because now i'm chillin' like a fish in a bowl..... what the hell..

I know this is a fairly old video but i took your suggestions and applied it to my PC and my game play is 75% better. Good guide! One critique, though.
As a programmer, I felt the registry tweaks most needed the a clear explanation over a lot of the other self-explanatory tweaks in order for me to use them, but that section was surprisingly lacking information. I was cherry-picking these tweaks for my specific system and preferences, and the lack of information there means I'll need to check another source on those settings.

I only had like 8 things in my temp from a year and change old install. I only kept the discord crash data.

When i had done this, my fps dropped the day after i logged in.....thanks alot for the help to "optimize" windows for gaming....All my over clocking has also been downed to the base value it had before overclocking.
Make sure not to close msi afterburner if you want to keep the overclocked settings.
Idle temps for GPU and CPU went up about 10 degrees for me.

Hi, Thank you for the nice video which is really helpful and actually speed up the system. You have good voice, but you tempt to speed up which makes it a bit difficult to follow you in one stance. It would be great if you could update this video with the recent updates on windows10 while considering the newer Nvidia RTX and AMD RX cards.
Thank you mate. This worked a treat. Boot up times are non existent. Micro stutter gone and I don't have to disable SMT to play games anymore. I will be sharing this video. Also unpark cpucore doesn't work for my threadripper, prob doesn't recognise it, but I cannot live without TimerResolution on now. TR1900X 960evo 980ti
I'll have a look into how windows uses all of those threads/cores (they might already be unparked) and as for timerres, on the amd platform that must be a HUGE perf bump lol
It's overclocked to 4.2Ghz manually and everything reports that all cores are at 4.2 static so prob at full pelt anyway it was disappointing after replacing a 6700k having to reboot, apply a different BIOS profile to play games forget about it come to do work and realise I have only half the cores running, rinse and repeat and get 20-40fps less than my 6700k for double the money. Now it's comparable for gaming and killing the 6700k for work. 1788pts vs 991pts cinebench scores i can deal with 10 less fps in games. thanks again. Give me a shout if you need anything testing for future vids although TR is a bit niche.
Thanks! After editing the registry, power options, and Nvidia settings, my laptop idle temps changed from 38-40 for the CPU and 38-39 for the GPU to idle temps of 49-51 for the CPU and 49-50 for the GPU! GREAT GUIDE! /s

These videos are fantastic, I just did about 4 of them to optimize my PC. I am curious, you have any suggestions for settings in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility? I have an I7 9700 (non-K) which has very few settings about turbo boost, but I am not sure where to set them. I have been getting thermal throttling on my cpu and have ordered a cpu cooler and new case, but I am wondering for speed what the best turbo settings are.

hey panjo just a little tip for the power plan, theres a "secret" power plan called ultimate performance that can only be turned on my using a cmd command it will then show up in youre power plan menu ps: big fan man this helped alot
