After a few months or so, I always come check to see what you have, and even redo some old stuff I've already done. Probably one of the most helpful channels on TH-cam. Helping us all to keep our pc's running smoother, longer, and cheaper. Panjno is an internet hero. Cheers friend. 🍻
I never leave TH-cam comments, but the efficiency and simplicity of both your explanations and visual indicators are superb. To collect this knowledge on Windows systems and portray it so perfectly (which is not my preference for the reason this video needs to exist haha)
I have an i3 amd 3770 that means I'm super low end and panjno your videos for different games are a life saver, they've never caused me error and always work a charm, thank you so much :)
what the heck is an i3 AMD 3770? AMD doesn't use the "i3, i5, i7" monikers; that's intel. Also there is no i3 3770, nor an AMD 3770 that's an intel i7 3770, an ivy bridge CPU that isn't really low end. Sure it's 8 years old but a 4c/8t cpu at nearly 4GHZ is still very good for gaming PCs. All you need is a good GPU to go with it. Which you didn't seem to mention what video card (GPU) you have, unless that's the AMD part (there are no amd GPUs with 3770 model name)
This author kept me soo busy for 15 minutes I need a vacation, but I now have 2 clean PCs!! Super effort on his part. He covered more material in 15 minutes than the best instructors I ever had in school 50 years ago. I was a little worried he deleted all my computer content.

Did not realise how much temp files had accumulated after uninstalling a bunch of games and still having about 40% of my SSD full. I have a large HDD for general use and less demanding games and a comparatively tiny SSD which is only 250 gig so the space is treated as prime real estate for games that really demand that extra boost and the OS itself. This freed up nearly 50 gig which is bout 20% of my SSD. Great stuff!
I just did this on my 14 year old laptop (an old Toshiba with Windows) 10 and this improved the storage from 66.2GB used before, to 54.0GB after (a 250 max SSD). Feels quicker and lighter! Thanks for this video, ...I'll bookmark it and do this occasionally.

Another trick that the IT department at my job uses regularly when you call them with issues is clearing the Java cache. Go to control panel and Java. Then in the Java settings clear all of the temporary files.
Deleting caches would have the opposite effect to performance and speed. By definition, a cache in computing is a temporary store to improve future loadtimes. Say, you have a photo album where pictures are stored and as you view the photos in a gallery-type view, a tiny thumbnail is generated for each picture so that when you scroll through a grid of pictures it can scroll through them quickly without having to recreate tiny versions of the files. Or, say, you browse the Internet. A web browser will store the pictures and code it downloaded from the web server onto a cache folder on your machine so that when you revisit a page with the same resources, it does not have to redownload them each time. These cache/temp folders are typically made to clean up after themselves once their size limit is reached so flushing them out manually simply makes the recaching operation reoccur. You don't constantly flush the toilet just to change out the water.
@@paulmartin6209 realistically, only if it makes you feel good. The only other situation is if you're storage is used up but at that point it's time to get more storage. If you have to constantly empty out temp files just to have a little more space, it's probably time to get more storage.
@@jawz101_fpv7 I laughed so hard with your "only if it makes you feel good" Not an IT guy here but sure do enjoy a constructive conversation. Anyone care to pitch in? Cheers guys!
You clear browsing data and at the same time you say it will make your browser faster. Thats kinda the opposite. Cache is there to speed up browsing so you can re-use files without downloading them over and over again. Same with for Windows searches and even Spotify. Clearing out the Data folder will results in songs not starting fast anymore if you are struggling with slow internet speeds.
This is also right and wrong, Yes you could experience a minor slowdown when loading a new web page for the first time, at the end of the video it recommends you to load your usual sites, games and files. Leaving you with new cache for the sites, file ect you actually use and removes all old excess which can be slowing down your PC and cluttering it, in many cases causing more slow-downs than having no cache in the first place. I appreciate the comment and see where you point is coming from, but as a guide to speed up your PC in the longrun, this is best.
@@Panjno on a mechanical drive YES this could slow you down cause it's wasted space but an SSD it's flash storage and cache is stored on the OS drive so this would probably make no difference AT ALL, if it did im sure you'd show benchmark comparisons xD some of your guides are useful yes but a fair amount do nothing including this one which in return, would do nothing in terms of PC ACTUAL performance, these types of changes is like me going from visual to performance mode in advanced settings, i've done a test on both and it has 0 impact in this day and age BECAUSE the "areo" that win10 uses is hardwired into the OS, that was the ONLY thing that really impacted pc performance back then.
@@ThatBritishGuy The thing is that 90% in your cache is outdated, or You probably never even use it... so its helpfull to refresh it once and a while.. and re download the files that you actually use.
Most software/browsers have cache foldersize limits with the oldest cache items automatically cleared. Same as deleting the prefetch folder, those files are there for a reason. Clearing it only causes the superfetch/sysmain service to recreate everything and in the process making it slower on boot with HDD (On systems with SSD you can optionally disable the "Sysmain" service, superfetch allows files to be arranged in a specific order on HDD's so it can be loaded faster). A lot of those speed-up and optimize-my-pc programs are snake oil, Disk cleanup as administrator is enough and you can clear the windows.old folder with that as well.

You should have performed some before and after benchmarks to validate your claim that this will speed up Windows. Sure, deleting all of these files will free up a load of space on the C: drive, but I have to wonder if performance will actually be improved. If anything, the first time the computer is restarted, apps are launched, or websites are accessed will probably be slower than before, as the cache initially created to speed up this activity has to be rebuilt.

You can make a bat file script to do all of this automatically in Windows 10 every time you start your computer. I don't know if the comment system will allow me to post script text, but I'll give it a go. Also, if you're unsure of my intentions with this (which is understandable), the channel owner can either verify my comment as legit and approve it, post these commands in the description of the video, add more commands, or just delete it at his leasure. _FYI: TH-cam's comment monitoring and filtering system will most likely filter out any file extensions I put in here, so instead of a punctuation (.), I will be writing (dot)._ So with that said, here we go: 1 - Create a new text document on your desktop and open it. Copy and paste the commands I've posted below. 2 - Save your text file, right click on the document, choose "Rename" and change the file extension from (dot)txt to (dot)bat. If you don't see the file extension, simply open up the document again, choose "Save as", change the drop-down menu to "All files" and save it as "Clear Windows Cache(dot)bat". 3 - Now that you have your bat file, move it to a place where you know you won't delete it by mistake. 4 - Navigate to the "Startup" folder. You'll find it here on Windows 10: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup _Alternatively, you can just click the search bar, write %appdata% and navigate from there._ 5 - Drag your bat file into the "Startup" folder while holding down Shift and Ctrl at the same time, which will create a shortcut to said file. 6 - Right click on your shortcut and choose "Properties". 7 - Click "Advanced" and check the box that says "Run as administrator" (if you skip this step you most likely have to confirm if you want to run it as administrator every time you log into Windows, or it simply won't run at all). @echo off del /s /f /q c:\windows\temp\*.* del /s /f /q C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch del /s /f /q %temp%\*.* deltree /y c:\windows\temp deltree /y C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download cls

4 years old video holding strong amazing tips and explained it visually and verbally i have cleared 20gb by now
You can make a bat file script to do all of this automatically in Windows 10 every time you start your computer. I don't know if the comment system will allow me to post script text, but I'll give it a go. Also, if you're unsure of my intentions with this (which is understandable), the channel owner can either verify my comment as legit and approve it, post these commands in the description of the video, add more commands, or just delete it at his leasure.
_FYI: TH-cam's comment monitoring and filtering system will most likely filter out any file extensions I put in here, so instead of a punctuation (.), I will be writing (dot)._
So with that said, here we go:
1 - Create a new text document on your desktop and open it.
You'll find it here on Windows 10: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
_Alternatively, you can just click the search bar, write %appdata% and navigate from there._
5 - Drag your bat file into the "Startup" folder while holding down Shift and Ctrl at the same time, which will create a shortcut to said file.
6 - Right click on your shortcut and choose "Properties".
7 - Click "Advanced" and check the box that says "Run as administrator" (if you skip this step you most likely have to confirm if you want to run it as administrator every time you log into Windows, or it simply won't run at all).
@echo off
del /s /f /q c:\windows\temp\*.*
del /s /f /q C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
del /s /f /q %temp%\*.*
deltree /y c:\windows\temp
deltree /y C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
cls
How do you know if the startup worked?
400k files removed ...... wtf is wrong with my PC
💀
CAN YOU MAKE .BAT FILE WITH ALL THE COMMANDS TO CLEAR THE CACHE IN 1 SHOT ??
I made a bat file which opens all the folders he mentioned. I have to delete the files manually still, but I think it is safer to not give windows the control alone for deleting things.
When he said "Go to the N section" I felt that !
lol
