    Well if you compare Megazord and Dragonzord's sizes from the show then you also have to compare the Tyrannosaurus Zord next to Dragonzord... It's never going to make sense. Lol

      I haven't seen thunder yet. I have seen several min-pla's which are less unfordable than the soc's, but as posable if not more so. I just saw earlier a review of the ninja and shogun mini-plas. actual knees, elbows, ankles, etc.

  • @GrnArrow092
    @GrnArrow092 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I never had a problem with the SOC Dragonzord. I think it's nicely detailed and it serves its purpose to combine with the Megazord. What it does well is when you combine it with the Megazord to form the Mega Dragonzord and Dragonzord Battle Mode. With the Dragonzord Battle Mode, you get a more proportionate figure because of the way the Megazord is designed. The legs and arms aren't tiny like they were in the Legacy version and the original 1993 version. In the Mega Dragonzord formation, the Dragonzord's feet aren't too heavy, so they don't end up dropping down like Legacy version tends to do. You also have the ability to connect the Dragonzord's chest plate and drill onto each side just like you can do in the original 1993 version. Weighing all the pros and cons, this Dragonzord isn't too bad in my opinion.

  • @Freefall347

    I felt almost exactly the same getting mine. The hips and elbows in particular bug me a lot. With the hips, all they had to do was increase the clearance and you'd get way more out of them. For the elbows, it feels like they could have at least used ball joints to get more arm movement. I like the figure well enough that I'll keep it, but everything except the finish feels lazy and phoned in. And yeah, would have loved it to be same size as Megazord.
    And yes, I would still watch a Megazord review, even though I already have the thing. I actually like it a fair bit, but it's not perfect. The SoC Voltron is amazing though. Shame they couldn't replicate it for these.

    You should really check out the new Dragonzord, Tyrannosaurus, and Megazord from Super7. They're based on the suits from the show and are the most screen accurate representations to date. They're hefty and beautifully painted. Crazy for the money!

  • @zhangyi9496

    MPR Legacy Zord lines are still the best ones. SOC MPR are over price for such a small toy. They did good with soc voltron. But failed in the mpr area. I'll stick to the legacy Zords. Cheaper and you got more diecast too.

    • @WiGgYof09
      @WiGgYof09 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zhang Yi I think they did great with the Megazord, but failed with Dragonzord. The only reason to get SOC Dragonzord over the legacy one is to combine it with SOC Megazord. If you display it separately then legacy is better, but SOC Megazord is pretty amazing compared to the "legacy" version that still used stickers.

    @TheLukemcdaniel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's not as big, or as premium, but the min-pla versions have similar articulation, without all the weight to make them wiggly and throw off their balance in poses. a touch of paint, panel lining, and/or a wash will go a long way with them.

  • @greatarts22
    @greatarts22 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I know how you feel about the show accurate sizes , but the show got the sizes wrong . Because dragonzord was the same size as the red t-rex AND the megazord which is suppose to be taller. I did feel like the smaller size is gonna help the other transformations look even better.

    I love the SOC Ultrazord set, but my Dragonzord's right leg is quite loose, so one wrong move in building Megadragonzord, the leg droops. I appreciate the lack of screw holes but I really don't know where to repair the leg.

  • @MisterSouji

    Get the Super Minipla Dragonzord and Megazord. They're simple model kits that will need work (more so than most bandai model kits) but I dont think you'll have an issue with that. They're all posable and fully transform able. And you can mod it easily if you want to add more articulation.

  • @WHERESMEMALLET

    So now that its 2 years later. The legacy dragonzord has ballooned to between $180 - $250 while a SOC brand new on BBTS is $174. Wonder if your opinion would change now that the price points are different.

    It's crazy how articulation can be so important as a collector, for me it is, but with all honesty, I don't remember Dragonzord doing any crazy poses ever, nor moving the arms more of it's extent, since it is a T-rex looking dragon. I also remember the suit look like whoever wore it might have had hell trying to move in it.
    On the other hand, the combination of both Megazord and Dragonzord would make a humanoid form which would allow him to have that articulation you perhaps are looking for. Cheers!!

    The SOC Dragonzord is nice and all, but not nearly as accurate as the Legacy Dragonzord. The only real benefit of the SOC Dragonzord is that it can combine with the SOC Megazord. I don't get how you think the SOC Megazord can't be posed, though. I do not own it, but I do see many pictures of it dynamically posed, especially compared to the original.

  • @darrenhood4033

    SOC toys were meant to replicate the original toys as close as they possibly could, while updating sculpts and articulation, and because this toy has to transform and combine with Megazord and the upcoming Titanus, the transformed parts have to be in scale with each other for balance. They were never meant to be show accurate. As for the jointed tail popping off, again not a design flaw, but because one of the major criticisms about the legacy toy was the drill being oversized thanks to the tail being so long, Bandai designed this so the sections could be removed, giving fans a more accurate looking weapon. This also keeps the joints from breaking due to stress. It's annoying but I wouldn't call it a deal breaker. This is a very nice toy.

    • @AnthonysCustoms
      @AnthonysCustoms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm very well versed on articulation and removable parts. They don't need to come off accidentally to be functional. Your other points are already effectively countered in my review as the articulation and sculpt and level of qc on this figure are all lacking.

    I agree with you that this Dragonzord is overrated, overpriced, and not that accurate. Yet it drives me insane that it has correct elements the Legacy has wrong. And even if anyone was skilled enough to combine the best of both figures it still wouldn't be 100%.

      @@AnthonysCustoms Mhm for certain. Here's just one example most people miss. The shoulders are supposed to reach halfway up the the horizontal spools on the sides of the head. Yet on both SOC and Legacy the shoulders are incorrect. The Legacy is too short going upwards and the SOC does not reach far enough going inward. Plus neither one is supposed to be gold, matte, chrome or otherwise. The top of the shoulders is black.

  • @Hipojak

    Your lack of experience with Soul of Chogokin figures is obvious here, no offense intended. They are not designed to be super posable. They are more often than not intended to be posable statues with gimmicks from their series. Their design is often based on line art. The MMPR SoC figures (note the distinct lack of the word action) are overpriced for what we get, specifically because bandai knows how many people have been clamoring for them. They should not be used to represent the SoC line in general, as there are many, many outstanding figures out there. Gunbuster, God Mars, God Sigma, Daioja, Daltanius, Big O and many, many others that are far better. Do not let the MMPR SoC put you off of the line. I will agree on the price for the Megazord. The dragonzord price is about the average when it comes to SoC though. You may enjoy the now seemingly dead Super Robot Chogokin line better. That line was all about poses and articulation but never any transformation or combination.
