    Every one of them look absolutely amazing. The horns with the chains on the triceratops are very show accurate. Did you notice the guns inside of the mouth of the Tyrannosaurus Rex?

    I loved the MMPR series as a child... it hit America roughly when I was 6 or 7 and it captivated my generation. This is absolutely accurate and the articulation doesn’t really bother me because the Megazord didn’t have a wide range in the show anyways. However, this set looks like a small upgrade to the MMPR Legacy collection that has been released over the last 5 years or so. It’s about the same size too. There are two more to this set that Bandai may/may not touch but in order to complete as the MMPR fandom says their version of “G1” you would need the Dragonzord, and Titanus. But, as always good review dude!

      I’d say owning both this was a big upgrade for me personally (they don’t feel cheap all separated and the small details and mechanics for me are a chefs kiss ( the Amin thing I cared about with power rangers was always the zords)

    as strange as the proportions are on some of them are, they are all like that in the show. This thing is surprisingly accurate

      I'd say the non-transforming Super Robot Chogokin released several years ago is closer to the show's "guy in a suit" model. This SOC is a good compromise between the show look and the original DX toy.

    Love it! Great review! I want this set. I really wish Bandai could do a Transformers combiner like Devastator or Predaking. I feel that would the best TF combiner we'd ever see.

    That is incredibly show accurate. I always hated the triceratank as I referred to it, and I hated the whole trying to be Voltron element. I liked the combining element, but, as a kid, it just screamed Voltron rip-off. Of course later in life I realized how much many shows had combining robots in Japan, so I was much more forgiving when I learned this. The original show started airing here in my latter high school years, and my younger brother loved it, so we watched it every day after school. Honestly, the theme song was pretty kick ass, but, everything else, meh. There was a lot of cheesiness to it, but there were some fun things about it. Hard as hell to try and watch these days though.
    While the Soul of Chogokin line is pricey, the amount of detail, the love, the paint, the little more oomph, you totally get a quality product. I always like hearing your appreciation for a product that you would have no interest in yet recognize the level of care that was put into it. You can hear it in your voice. Great review, Uncle Skullface, and have a great weekend!

    Fun fact: While the black "elephant" Zord is indeed referred to as a mastodon in the US's Power Rangers, it's called a mammoth in the original Japanese source material. In addition, the pterodactyl Zord is referred to more specifically as a pteranodon in Japan. Other name changes from US to Japanese include:
    Zords = Guardian Beasts
    Megazord = Daizyujin (Great Beast God)
    Power Sword = Dinosaur Sword God Horn
    Thanks as always for giving us a look at these awesome toys!

  • @Magikknight76

    Great review Skull Brother!!! This piece looks dead on accurate to the show. I think those chains in the triceratops are in reference to one episode that one time type of thing which is really awesome attention to detail. When Power Rangers first debuted I thought it was a cheap Voltron knock off and I hated it. However going back and watching it as an adult I love it. Some may think it's horrible cheesy but the writing is very smart and entertaining. One word of caution. Don't make the mistake of seeing Bandai on a product and automatically thinking it's good. This is the Soul Of Chogokin sub line which is always good. Then you have Bandai Japan which is also excellent. But Bandai America especially when it comes to Power Rangers can be and often are terrible. There is a bigger disparage between Bandai Japan and America then there is between Takara and Hasbro. Enjoy and keep up the great work brother...

      @MythsAndHeroes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      very cool, and will do

    • @DetectiveBarricade
      @DetectiveBarricade 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not entirely true... Bandai of America can do some pretty good stuff with the Legacy line, though it is perhaps still rather expensive for what you're getting. The American versions of the current season stuff though is laughable... or likely to leave you heaving over a toilet, depending on your view. (it's not good)

    Great review as always. I hope you get the chance to review the upcoming flame toys megazord. It's crazy stylized and is painted beautifully. But being flame toys not sure how they will do on a combiner after victory saber.
    Keep up the amazing work. Looking forward to your next video.

    This is way better than the 93' American toy release.
    This review was painful to watch as you learned the different dinozords as well as funny. A bit surprising you've never seen or heard of Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but hey it's always good to hear an unbiased opinion. Nice video.

    And it holds the sword so much better than the shield.

    I have all the MMPR Zords & this one that you've just reviewed combines with two more , the Green Ranger's Dragonzord and the Stegosaurus that's battery operated and it becomes a moving battlestation with lights and sounds

    Dope review as always, was kinda missing the hand transformation and the head reveal was a bit off camera. I typically try to recreate these bots and other transformers with Lego and was hoping to catch a couple of new techniques from this review, eh. Good stuff tho!

    It's funny how you can take a toy that I have zero interest in or zero connection to and still make it interesting. You sir, are very good at what you do. Also, it's not a mastedon or an elephant, it's snufflepagus from Sesame Street. Great review and keep it up.....

  • @thebrandonrobert5693
    @thebrandonrobert5693 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    While it could have more articulation, I find that it's articulated enough that you can recreate whatever pose was seen in the show and then some. Not saying that a toy should be limited to its live-action/animated counterpart in every way... I just think that for a clunky bot who isn't supposed to be side-kicking and back-flipping, this does the job.

  • @GenX6887
    @GenX6887 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Triceratops actually shoots the horns and uses them as grappling hooks in the show (both Zyuranger and MMPR). That the whole purpose of the chains on the horns.

    This is certainly much better(and more accurate) looking that the megazord from the 90s, and even the 2010 and more recent legacy megs. But the star of the show is the articulation. Some megazords of the past(through all the seasons) had leg articulation(but very few), and some had harm articulation beyond rotating shoulders(that's it... some had no articulation other than the arms rotating in the shoulders on a single axis). NONE had arm and leg articulation. nearly every one of them is basically stuck in a pose like an armor stand. A much more affordable option is the super minipla version(though it's still ~$50 for a 5" gundam) but it's a kit you have to assemble(and would be best painted).

    • @MythsAndHeroes
      @MythsAndHeroes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      nice

    • @TheLukemcdaniel
      @TheLukemcdaniel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got the megs and the dragon zord of the mini pla. tossed the dragon together(mostly, didn't pop the super tiny gold emblems off the sprue yet as I intend to paint). Both are currently sitting in my growing backlog waiting for a coat or two of paint on key areas. I don't like the meltalicized plastic for the gold and silver, it's too swirly.

    So they appear to be making a Soul of Chogokin Dragonzord? If it's fully compatible with this and forms both the Dragonzord Battle Mode and Mega Dragonzord... that'd be a pretty impressive set. And they could throw in the Ultrazord as well for kicks...

    Hey man,there's an off-shoot of Soul of Chogokin called Full Action and I think a Sit down Saturday or Teases the court is called for since its gonna need your attention because of the price point and how small the figures are since its demanding the same price as an ACTUAL SOC like this except it DOESN'T have the same features as an actual SOC but more of an SRC/Super Robot Chogokin.
    Bandai of Japan is REALLY trying something with the buyers this time. Take a look at this video: th-cam.com/video/Za3r6_moP60/w-d-xo.html

    I actually think this piece is overpriced for what it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice toy but it doesn't feel that it was priced in the same ballpark as voltron soc.

    Good Friday to you. Power Rangers were NEVER in my wheelhouse may have had to do with age........I did like Ultra Man in the late 70's early 80's but still the format of PR never appealed. SOC is Premium I feel Bandai lost this translation with this release. If you were to compare Megazord to Voltron SOC well there is no comparison and I am not just talking aesthetics. SOC has Dancouga scheduled for an upcoming release! I would like to see Bandai land a Transformer license and hit up non Transformers via Soul of Chogokin.

    • @Illsteir
      @Illsteir 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have two other cheaper options from Bandai:
      The Super Robot Chogokin version which is nicely painted and well articulated. The problem is the individual units doesn't combine/separate. It's smaller than the Soul of Chogokin version.
      The other one is the Super Mini Pla. The set is basically a candy toy which you assemble. The articulation is also pretty good and the individual units combine/separate. It's largely unpainted so it needs a ton of work to look good. This one is the smallest of the bunch.

    • @twilight_phantom2969
      @twilight_phantom2969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Illsteir I know about those two and yeah those are the reasons I don't go for them. That and it might just be me but the minipla has slightly off proportions
