SO jealous of anyone who owns this. Dragonzord was my favorite toy as a kid...I kept my 93 Megazord and Dragonzord all the way into adulthood and when I moved in with my girlfriend around the age of 20 my idiotic stepdad threw away literally all of my stuff that was still at my mom's house including my Megazord, Dragonzord, all 6 eight inch rangers, and Titanus. He probably threw away 5 or 6 thousand dollars worth of stuff in total, actually.

That face of the Dragonzord Battle mode would look familiar to you Gobots and Machine Robo fans. It's the same as Blue Jet/Fitor. Because the guys who designed the Power Rangers toys are also the same guy who designed Machine Robo/Gobots which was PLEX,Bandai's desgin team. ;)
I have never been, nor will I ever be a power rangers fan. But Bandai certainly makes the best versions of these characters.

The ignorance of power rangers culture by most of the transformers fandom (myself included in this) makes these videos EXTREMELY entertaining, especially when done with somebody who actually knows what's going on. Informative for those who are in the know, funny and satisfying as hell for the rest of us and I'm sure yourself. Pull the trigger on more opportunities to look at ranger stuff based on all this PLEASE!

Honestly this looks like a premium version of the original 90s toy (which I think was 80s in Japan actually). I would be interested if they did a proper updated one with Masterpiece like articulation, looks and feel. That said, this version just isn't worth the money with it's limitations. It isn't exactly cheap.
As somebody who actually collects both Sentai and Transformers, that particular series isn't from the 80's. Zyuranger aka MMPR Season 1 was from 1992.
I thought Power Rangers was around 1992, and had assumed there was some time needed before bringing it over. Thanks for correcting that.
@@cameronmoriarty3313 The actual "American" Power Rangers was from 1993. Zyuranger where the original footage came from was from 1992 and Saban wanted to bring Sentai over since he saw a series that was dubbed and airing in France in the late 80's. Originally Jetman was the one they were gonna adapt but apparently he didn't get the rights for it so they just went with Zyuranger and then Jurassic Park happened. So you know it was a blessing in disguise for them because the first series they adapted was pretty much the hot thing of the current year: Dinosaurs. Sentai has been around since 1975 almost a full decade before Transformers.

The biggest difference is that it combines with the SOC Megazord. The quality of the Legacy dragonzord is nearly identical, but the legacy megazord is... Well... not great.
If you were going to display it in Dragonzord mode, I can't recommend it over the Legacy. They are about equal. But combined modes? It's way better because the other zords are better. Also it has a bit better balance in ultrazord mode.

It reminds me a lot of the SOC Goldymarg, where it's less a premium figure in its own right and more of an expansion pack for a premium figure. It's just the original gimmick and play pattern but with more joints, and if all you wanted was that gimmick, then you're better off not playing 200 bucks for it.

Bandai prefered to stick to show accuracy instead of delivering poseable/well articulated toys. The licence did the sale job on this one.... Specially after the SOC Voltron :p
Honestly, I'm a big Transformers fan too, but I'll give Bandai credit where it's do. I own both of these figures, and I have to say how impressive the build quality is on both. Great quality plastic, tons of diecast, flawless paint apps, solid joints, and, even though it's a collector's item, still highly playable. The majority of Hasbro or Takara's Transformers can't even come close to the build quality of these two figures (masterpiece included). Sure they're not as poseable (actually the Megazord is much more poseable than the Dragonzord), but that's the nature of all Megazords.
Aside from being super expensive, I don't see anything that this brings to the party which the smaller (and cheaper by comparison) Legacy version molds by Bandai America don't bring already...apart from that combined mode (Zyuutei Daizyuujin/Mega Dragonzord) where the dragon becomes a coat for the Megazord looking more stable than the Legacy version. 🤷🤷🤷
True, the Dragonzord wasn't much of an improvement. The Megazord, on the other hand, was an amazing improvement over the Legacy version. SoC's individual zords and the Megazord modes looked quite show-accurate, whereas the Legacy version looked like a toy in comparison.
Being a good sport, don't want to trash a friend's purchase too hard with him stand right beside you.
