Don’t mind that Legacy and SOC look a bit different. Own two Legacy Dragonzords one in box one out, but will definitely get SOC Dragonzord in the future.

It never ceases to amaze me how Sentai/PR toys of the same "character" can look widely different depending on the manufacturer (seeing the "kneepads" on the Battle Mode really crystalized this for me - just _look_ at the size difference in the Z's). It's not like superhero comics where looks can vary depending on the artist, so toy designers kind of have to pick a version: Sentai/PR existed from the very start as physical models, so... just... just _match how they looked in the show_ ! OK, so toys will be made from cheaper materials than the actual filming props, but _cosmetically_ they should be absolutely identical! Even compromises for transformation shouldn't be an issue as the filming props transformed and combined too! Obviously it can't be expected to match the dimensions of the actual suit the actor wears, but there's the split second when the transformation is complete before it cuts to the suit actor, so...
And of course, I know this rant doesn't really pertain to later seasons where the transformations were done in CG, but even then the individual non-animal, vehicular zords should match the show look.
In conclusion, I go back to the Dragonzord battle mode "kneepads" (0:53): how they can those Z's look _so_ different, when the designers - whether in the '90s, '00s, '10s or whenever - can just _look at the show_ and see what they're supposed to look like?

Show accuracy is why I have both SOC Megazord and SOC Dragonzord. One of my favorite zord combinations with the two is the Dragonzord Battle Mode. It looks awesome on TV, but it doesn't translate too well down to the toy line. My chief complaint is that the limbs of this zord formation appear too small. It makes the whole combination underwhelming in my opinion. What I like about the SOC line is that they took care of that problem. The arms and legs appear the size they should be in order to make this particular Megazord look as great as it should look.

There was another review that really sold me on this, for a super small reason. I used to own one of the original NA ones as a kid, so I was watching this other review for this version when he got to the legs and was posing them and he mentioned them making a sharp snapping sound, and hearing that sound just brought all the childhood memories rushing back cause the OG one had that exact same quirk when I played with it as a kid.

It’s true, a few coworkers have recognized my SOC Dragonzord and are pretty impressed by the quality. I figure it’s something I want to pass down to my kids someday, along with the SOC Megazord

two hands on the staff for me. I hated the previous versions that the battle mode version had to stand like a sentinel.

I always thought that the megazord and dragonzord were about the same height in the show (e.g. th-cam.com/video/jLJss0KZ2Vc/w-d-xo.html)
But there is a significant height difference here. I was hoping of buying them to pose them together but the height difference threw me off a bit.

I pre-ordered this months a head of time. I'm glad I bought this. It is miles above the legacy version. The legacy line is so unbalanced. With the Soul of Chogokin MegaDragonzord I don't have to worry about it falling over, parts flying everywhere. I got the Soul Of Chogokin Titanus on pre-order. These figures are amazing. They do have their flaws, but this is everything the Legacy line should be.

Personally there are several reasons I opted not to get this. One of which being that hasbro has the power rangers license now and I'm betting on them making something like this at a more affordable price point (seriously why does everything have to be made of metal)

Diecast metal is a lost art. Most early 80's robot toys had it, before transitioning almost entirely to plastic. After growing up with solid and weighty figures, the plastic stuff felt cheap. High end robot toys are clearly made by people who remember that, so along with good paint, details, and articulation, they make sure to put metal wherever feasible.
In my experience it's the 3rd parties that go too far with it. I've held figures that were almost entirely made of diecast metal.
