Had same code, replaced my vent valve solenoid then about a month later check engine light came back on with po446. Think it could be the canister or gas cap or something?
For sure it definitely could be, any leak in the system will cause that. The best was to check is using a smoke machine and inspect for leaks. I would visually inspect the system the best I could and if I didn’t find the issue it might be worth having a shop smoke it. Just check your filler neck where the gas cap o-ring seats and make sure it’s clean and rust free
@@Tech-28also where did you hook up your negative lead too when testing the wiring for the solenoid, I noticed a bit of exposed wire right at the connection so maybe im getting a continuity issue or something
Is it possible that it can be draining my battery I replaced both my alternator and my battery so far but my battery seems to keep getting drained and now the engine light came on when I installed the new alternator and I checked the code and got p0446
Have quick question, are vapor canisters universal? I have 06 ford ranger 4.0. Can you use a 06 3.0 canister as a replacement, or should i buy a exact replacement fir that model?
What you could do is call a ford dealer and get the parts guy to give you part numbers between the two different trucks and see if they are the same, if the part number is different I would just google both off numbers and see what the difference is
More like this one please. The diagnostic process is what matters most
I have same issue on 06 ford ranger. So glad I found your video
I have a 2007 ford ranger 2.3 l with a code P0046
Would it be my canister solenoid or the purge

It is a possibility if it’s shorted internally
@@Tech-28 I found that cylnoid and it def looks rusted to hell
@@brokenrekord8358 change it and see if your issue goes away, those solenoids are fairly cheap online
How would I rewire if needed?

They vary between models. I’m willing to bet they are the same canister tho between the 4.0 and the 3.0

@@Tech-28 sounds great! Thanks for replying.
