The other possible contributor is the purge valve by the intake that can be malfunctioning. Because my 02 kia Sedona has 186k miles and is giving the 0446 code, I have replaced the evap valve and filter, which are cheap (it's the labor that eats you alive), checked the cap and the purge valve, all are replaced or working properly. There's no apparent hose damage and no leak codes, just the 446. The next probable cause is a blockage in a hose oe the canister itself. Either a smoke test or blowing low-pressure air from a compressor or air pig (those portable air tanks are called "pigs") through the hoses. If air comes through the hoses, they don't leak and the other components are okay, it must be a clog in the canister. Perseverance and some labor will eventually pay off, there's only so many things it can be, just go one step at a time.

@Rat in the toiletAt the point that it's not the solenoid, I just replace the whole charcoal canister with a used one with the vent valve. If anything is clogged, it means the canister is likely no good anyway from overfilling.

Gas caps do not cause P0446. P0446 is an SAE DTC and the criteria, while wide, doesn't include leaks. The DTC sets, often along with manufacturer-specific DTCs, when the control module (ECM/PCM/VCM/DME/ME, etc) doesn't see circuit level change with release or actuation of the driver as well as a reasonable rate of pressure/vacuum decay when the vent is commanded open (N/C). Education clients is helpful to all, but this makes honest repair shops/technicians look shady when we need time to diagnose, versus just tightening the gas caps and blowing codes out for free. You know, the client saw a video by FIXD, and why would FIXD mislead them.
