Reminded me of Proper Printing's tug of war showdown where the Micro Swiss demolished everything including a Bondtech QR along with his own experimental design using timing belts to grip onto a larger section of filament. th-cam.com/video/0jlW4ivSDko/w-d-xo.html
well u just decided with direct drive im putting on one of my creality machines, not sure which one yet but a ng will be added to a ender 3, 3max, 5 or a aquila not sure which im going to put it on yet, ender 5 has a microswiss hotend already so that makes me want to lean in the other direction but one question, is the heat block an throat the same from the ng to the original all metal hotend or are they different. would be nice if all the parts where interchangeable.
Helpful but your comment re: filament going out on 1st Gen is wrong. Capricorn tube going to the hot end cut too short which is the reason it goes out. It is cut at an angle to sit between gears.
This is the video I've been looking for! I had an all metal hotend from microswiss so it was cheaper to buy the older style when switching to dd. Been curious of the difference and what I am missing. Would be interested to see print quality comparison, but mostly that test you did was awesome. Could the original extruder lift the spool on its own if it wasn't attached to the NG? How strong is the microswiss extruder is essentially my question. It is clear the ng is extremely powerful in comparison
Thanks! 😀 The way the pulleys were set up, initially each extruder would be lifting 1/2 the spool weight (approx. 500-600g). In my opinion it's not that the Original is very weak, it's that the NG is so powerful that it makes it look weak.
@@LucasBuildsStuff truth, i watched another video of an "extruder tournament" where various extruders like the Orbiter, the Sprite, Bondtech DDX and obviously the Micro Swiss NG compited. The NG ate all of their rivals.
NO! 12 successes followed by infinite fault finding and disassembly assembling, searches on TH-cam and forums. All return to the device not working in the same way... Removed and binned.
Dude that is the most creative and awesome test ever
Thanks! 😀

Sweet!
Excellent way to test extruders against each other. Creative yet fundamentally simple in concept. Appreciate it.
Gantry should not sag just because an extruder moved to the other side. That is a side effect of not having tight enough rollers or misaligned rollers
That's what I originally thought too! Thanks for watching!
That tug of war was an excellent representation of the extruder force. Thanks
Awesome video creative test! Can't wait to see more videos!
Thank you! I'm excited to create more content!
Hows it a shorter filament path than say the sprite pro that goes directly in in a similar way
I'm pretty sure it's the distance between the gear and the nozzle but I'm not 100% sure
I just ordered the sprite pro and guess we'll find out!
lol props to the "can't tell the difference" part there. i just want the damn thing to work when i want to use it
I have the NG but let me say it's nothing but clogging issues and it's a real pain to take apart and put back together every time... so frustrating...
Clogging sucks! I haven't had a single clog with the NG yet, are you sure the nozzles you're using are meeting the heat break?
OH MAN....The soundtrack to this vid is awesome! I felt like I was watching Gladiator during the tug of war. Great touch.
Thanks!
Man I just got the ng in the mail today. Sadly I gotta wait 10 hours for my print to finish but so far I’m impressed by the quality of it.
Any updates?
Yup broken heater block because I was clumsy and dropped it but got a new one in the mail today so I’ll have an update ina few hours hopefully 🤞
Haha that sucks, hope round 2 works better!
love the content... but get a better mic when recording your audio... please. other than that. great stuff! keep it up!
Thanks! Definitely the plan for the next video 🙂

The NG comes with its own block and throat but I'm pretty sure the block is generic and the throat is unique 🤔
Awesome review!
Thanks, glad you liked it! 😃
Any-update on the jamming when loading filament? - I'm having the same issue
I've been busy designing my next project and haven't printed much recently. Will start printing again soon, I'll keep you updated if I do!

Maybe, makes sense 🤔 thanks!

i love this video
The end to end height check is pointless due to single z drive
Hey! I found a huge difference in print quality with dual z rods 🤔
Love the video .but man please fix the audio is terrible
😂
Here's another one for the algorithm
Thanks! 😂
