- Slip-on, full system, de-cat, servo buddy, check engine lights, and resonator expansion chamber removal discussed and answered! We get to the bottom of all the questions that you may have about exhausts for your Kawasaki Ninja zx-6r. Below are all the parts I ordered, some were used, some were not. We never got a check engine or f1 light (cel) because we only unhooked the cables to the servo and left it plugged in, so no codes to clear, but I show how to do that if we did. This exhaust sound is very loud so I put a link to another slip on exhaust with a removable decibel killer that will be a little quieter, and with the DB killer in, it will be much quieter. Comment with any questions you may have, enjoy!

I’m serious when I say this guy might be the most informative TH-camr on TH-cam. He’s not afraid to drop 25+ minute videos about actually relevant information that would benefit a consumer in today’s market. Well done man, you earned a subscribe and a lifelong follower.
Hey thank you man, I appreciate it! 👍
Just saved me a bunch of money man, I was fully expecting to drop 1000+ to get that sound 😂. Big help, just bought my 2024 yesterday and I’m pumped!
Awesome man! 👍
For 90$, that's an impressive result. Good Upgrade dude
I think so too, thanks man!
I am once a vlogger and I think I would need to get my 4$$ back because of you. I was inspired first by DoitwithDan around 2017 and now 2024, you did the same.
Watching this coz I am thinking of getting zx6r, not so soon yet but I feel excited just by thinking I have informative videos from you.
Hoping to see more content like this. Practical. Informative. No wasted time by cutting out what's not needed. You answered all my questions in a long 25min video.
You deserve far more subscribers than you have right now.
EDIT: I subscribed after watching this video. 1st one was when you changed oil of this beast.
Thanks man! Happy to help, I'll keep cranking out the videos 👍
As I’m watching this with great frustration, I’m now grateful to see you remove the expansion chamber. I could not get it to budge at all. Tomorrow is a new day!
Yeah just back and down, it's tight but it will slip outta there 👍
@@bikesandbangsI really hope so. My Allen wrenches are in one of those pop out sets. I may need something better with more leverage. I tried for 2 hours tonight. You give me hope. As for the servo. I saw that tonight and was like wtf is that. I may have violently pulled it from the stock pipe. Oops. Anyhow. Links are here and now I have hope and pipe comes tomorrow. Picked up my 24 zx6 last week. So excited. Dropping 2 inches. On that note, do I need to make any adjustments to the suspension after that drop?
You won't need to adjust the suspension settings to maintain the same ride quality with lowering links, should feel the same. It will corner and handle different in the twisties though because it does slightly change the geometry of the bike. If you haven't had a chance to really throw it around you won't notice a difference 👍
OMG that sounds amazing, great video
Such an underrated channel! Great job!
Thanks!
Subscribed! I just bought this exact same bike and Im in love!
Awesome man! It's a great machine, I love it more and more everyday
sounds soo good, take us on a ride with the new exhaust
Should have that video by this weekend 👍
Great video!
Thank you man!
Love your videos man , I have the same bike but KRT Edition , that bike sounds insane, Congrats
Thanks man! It's been super fun to work on
Wow vi como mil videos y este fue el mejor de todos todo claro y súper bien explicado Solo me da miedo cortar los chicotes del servo. Pero pues con todo menos con miedo. Great video
Video liked after 35 seconds in. I could tell just from the start, I will learn something.
I've bought one 2 months ago and i'm so happy! Wonderful bike and the original exaust sounds really good.
Remove the valve is not a good idea, you need to remap and lost a lot of torque at low rpm.
very good information tutorial all in one package lol you are a lifesaver
Happy to help! 👍
I gotta get me a Zx6R 2024 this year. As much as I love my first gen R6, I gotta have a fuel injected bike to enjoy the best of both.
Awesome Bro!
Thanks man 👍
Thank you 🤝
Yes sir!
Just btw, not saying anything is necessarily wrong, but it can take up to 100 miles in some cases before the ecu re-checks all sensors in order to throw a code or not, sometimes just resetting the battery works too but not always
geez...my 6MM bolt for the resonator chamber part came somewhat stripped by the factory! I have to call a friend over with mechanical wizardry to hopefully help me find a way to get it off. I got everything off just fine, even the 6mm bolt just below the tough one, so I know my hex size is right. What sort of monster put this thing together?!?!
Edit: My friend used a hammer to bang the hex socket into that slightly stripped bolt and was able to get that monster off! Also prying that nut out of the metal housing on the back of Res Chamber was much harder on my bike than the video, I ended up having to Dremel saw it open enough to get that nut out! Everything else was exactly like the video, thank you very much for the help here!
I have good news and i have some bad news, good news is i can confirm on a 2023 zx6r that keeping the servo plugged in does not throw any codes or prompt an engine light no servo buddy needed. Now for the bad news, that last bolt you had trouble with on the expansion chamber also is giving me one hell of a time, it snapped my allen key so now i have a tip of an allen wrench wedged in there so now I am stuck trying to get that thing out.
Very informative! My expansion chamber won’t come off. Probably going to have to drill the bolts to get them out some the Allen key has stripped them from my tugging at them
Dang, idk why that Alan head bolt is on there so tight! Like it's ridiculous
Do I really need the curved connection/ link pipe for back pressure I think you called it? also it just looks so close to the rear tire is that also not an issue with the link pipe you used?
So after adding this link pipe can I add any slip on I want to? As long as it has the correct OD?
Quick question what made you switch to the other muffler? Just too loud after decat/ecu flash?
Hola. Me encanta tu vídeo. Por qué soy un piloto de tu talla😂. Me gustaría que le hicieran una reseña a la Kawasaki ninja 636 zx6 2024.
TOP!!!!!!
Those decel pops sound pretty nice for a $35 aftermarket pipe. I was thinking about spending $2k for a SCP-CRT full exhaust but I might actually opt out for a $35 pipe hahaha!
I'm sure it's making everybody re-think their high dollar exhausts lol
Thank that's so informative. I have a question. What if I let the expansion chamber intact and just put on a slip on exhaust. Does it make a great sound? Or do I really need to remove tha expansion chamber?
It's the same sound, just barely a bit quiter. The audio doesn't come through great on my cameras so I couldn't tell a difference on film. I'd throw one on with the chamber intact, if you want louder, then just get the $55 link pipe that removes it. My setup is really loud though, like extremely. Depends what you want
@@bikesandbangs thank you I would do as you say.
My only question is with that pipe being so close to the tier did it give you any heat issues?
Thanks very much for the information with the servo!🫶🏻
No problem, I figured it would help some people out
I'm strongly considering running this on my zx6, but my main question is, does that exhaust and tip rub up against the swingarm at all after hitting bumps? Was a little worried about if there was any issue with clearance for everything.
No issues with clearance, it's not even close 👍
Smoked my carbon ring a few nights ago, wish I seen this sooner!😢😂
Me too!
What is carbon ring? Curious, new to bikes,
These bikes have a graphite ring that functions as a gasket between your exhaust pipes where they overlap and go inside one another
@@bikesandbangs thanks for the reply, have the same bike, and fortunately I haven’t lost my carbon ring
Would I have to get both link pipes you put in the description or can I just get the short one and the muffler?
If you are keeping the resonator chamber you can put the short one on that, but the short one won't go straight on the header, you'll need the curly one if you remove the resonator box
Will the shorty hook straight to the header?
Is there a way to make bike loud by using the stock exhaust? i mean just remove servo cable and by default that butterfly valve is always on and remove the breadbox and put a linkpipe with stock exhaust.. will it work?..
So I think you could do the link pipe to the stock muffler with the servo cables removed. But 90% of your sound dampening is in the muffler, so it will be a little more volume, but not much. The link pipe to delete the bread box is $65 and a no name mufflers is only $35 more. What is your reasoning in wanting to keep the factory muffler?
@@bikesandbangs I saw a fellow versys rider do that... And it sounded great... Actually here at my place sometimes police would do special drives and if caught they would seize your bike with aftermarket exhaust .. then you have to pay fine upto 250$ if i convert to USD 😂
If you do aftermarket headers, it should sound louder while keeping your stock exhaust and deleting the mid pipe.
The link to the mid-pipe says it doesn’t not fit a 24 ZX6R with abs, did it say that to you too? Awesome video, thank you for the help!
It'll fit perfectly 👍
do you need a link pipe coming off the expansion chamber?
If you want to keep the expansion chamber and put a muffler on, yes, you will need the short link pipe
Your cel still hasn’t came on?
That 6mm hex is tight as hell on my resonator as well 😭 couldn’t even get it off with my t handle
Yeah you will need an "L" shaped hex key with a little pipe or a socket and extension on it. It's a bugger
What kind of springs did you get ? How long were they ?
Just the springs that came with the muffler
Did he use the short link pipe for the resonator in this video ?
I didn't show it in the video, it was the same volume without the expansion chamber and I wanted to drop the weight of that chamber
Question I feel air coming out where the cat is located at did I miss a step? Or is that okay?
Is the clamp tight? Did you get your graphite gasket ring back in? I have no air coming out of mine
👍🏽😎🏁🏁🏁🎵🎶🎵🎶 got two on my 0610r🔥🔥🔥
I love my 2006-2007 zx10r's. They are as brutal and untamed as it gets 👍
Could you post a link to the eBay link where you bought them?🤘
They should all be in the description 👍
does it still sound good after 12 days? lol cuz this is way cheaper than the M4 and sounds amazing
Sounds better everyday!
After delete catalyst need tune ecu or it will not engine problem and can ride?
If you have a curly 360 link pipe like I put on, you don't need to. If you delete the cat and have a muffler that comes straight off the header, I would if I were you. You can still ride it but eventually I would get a tune so you're not running too lean
@@bikesandbangs i have m4 gp19 and today deleted catalyst
Nice man, I bet it sounds wicked! You'll pry want a tune eventually with that exhaust. I'm sure it's shooting fireballs now 👍
this video is giving me 'cut springs on a civic' type vibes
Excellent 👍
Would I be able to mate that link pipe that deletes the resonator to my akropovich slip on?
Yes, any 2" or 51mm slip on exhaust that just has the hooks and is held on by the two springs will fit on it 👍
Measure the inlet on ur akrapovich to confirm but I believe it is
Is there still no check engine lights? I just ordered servo buddy today dang it
Yeah still no lights, and I've put 500 miles on since then
@@bikesandbangs well… time to install lol 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Good luck sir
hows the servo motor doing lately?
Still plugged in, still no engine lights
Cause im planning to buy zx6r 2024 too.. From the Philippines by the way.. 😇
Im confused is your exhaust 2 pieces or 3? You have 3 links in the description.
You only need two pieces. There's two different link pipes because one is to be used with the resonator expansion chamber and one deletes it
@@bikesandbangsyour videos go above and beyond. I ordered the slip on and link pipe in the description of your oil change video. Is that all ill need?
Yep, nothing more needed. And you will be so pleased with the sound and look! Thanks man 👍
@@bikesandbangssorry i have one more question. Theres no mount? Its only held on by the springs? Thats not an issue?
With the link pipe being so short and having a firm mounting point on the frame, it's very solid without any sort of a hanger. Just the springs are good
Is there anyway to contact you outside of here? I have questions lol I’m from DE and have the same bike I just purchased last Friday!
Wacha got questions about?
@@bikesandbangs did your light ever come back on? The exhaust set up will be here tomorrow, and did you change that slip on? From the original you had placed on there first?
No exhaust light ever came on, was just riding more today and everything is perfect. I still have this muffler but I have since gotten a different Amazon muffler that has a removable decibel killer since I live around a bunch of old people and families, I work late nights right now. I just posted a video today of the muffler I currently have on it. Sounds the same but I can put that DB killer in the end and make it quite when I need too
@@bikesandbangs def hard to gauge from a video, sounds good, and if I didn’t find your channel I would have def dropped 2k on top of the 8k I dropped on the new ZX lol I just need to know if this is going to piss my neighbors off 😂 I live in a super quite neighborhood and half the people are old and retired 😂 and my wife**
They will know when u leave and when ur coming home is what I'll say lol
do you need to tune with this setup? any difference in performance?
No tune needed, no difference in performance, just sound 👍
considering they're race bikes, they don't half make the exhaust a nightmare to change
I want this whole setup….like noowwwwwwwww
Well if you got $90 it could be yours!
@@bikesandbangs currently looking into ordering everything, and also you got yourself a new sub, thanks alot this super useful! underrated channel!
Thanks man!

@@bikesandbangs youre the best
there's no point in doing ANY exhaust work if you're not planning on getting the ECU flashed.. there is literally zero gain and all you did was make the bike louder. that being said, if you do get a FULL system (the only worthwhile exhaust upgrade) and have the ECU flashed to that system for max benefit, they can tune out the servo so you wouldn't need a servo buddy anyways. they'll also tune out the AIS/smog system and the o2 sensor so you'll be free of CELs and all the restrictions and their weight in extra parts..
i dropped over 30lbs between the exhaust, lightweight antigravity battery, servo motor, passenger pegs, mirrors and rear signal/plate/undertail crap.
There's plenty of perks to our exhaust job, great sound, dropped weight, looks a lot better. If you want to be wicked fast just get a liter bike
@@bikesandbangs there's plenty of potential in these bikes and many dyno videos to prove it. while you're absolutely correct in everything said - it's a shortcut.
in removing the servo motor completely, you're not only dropping weight, but making space too so you have at least some semblance of a trunk. my wallet and phone now fit.
a proper tune makes the bike run better everywhere as well. you're option is a good *start and i appreciate the content.
Yeah for sure, just depends how far you want to go with a 600
So your engine light never comes on ?
Correct
Your cel still hasn’t came on?
Nope, no light
