I don’t understand how I always hear in these videos stuff along the lines of “Crazy to think people commute these, but I do know a few true 600 bros that do.” I personally know a ton of people who have supersport 600s and 1000s as their only bike for everyday riding. If you like the bike enough, you’ll make it work lol.
Yea if you could only have one bike and the typical commute was only like 20-30min then it would be fine for daily use. Most people arent going very far on a daily basis and also dont need saddle bags or a ton of wind protection. But there are way better "only bike" options, especially for those that dont use the highways or for taller folks like myself. Personally id go z900 over zx6r
Little late, and not quite as aggressive, but close… been over a month straight on my R7 and yeah my legs, abs, wrists, and back adapted. I still randomly get a little sore if my backpack is heavy, but it’s absolutely doable
I commuted for two years on a ZX6R in Los Angeles, maybe fifty miles a day roughly. Had great fun, and no problems at all. Got everywhere on time, and beats being stuck in traffic in a car any day. Sure it's sporty, and wants to zip out of anywhere fast, but that's part of the fun. I had no comfort issues, and it was solid, no problem. PS: It was great being able to take different routes too. Canyon, highway, street - depending on which I felt like on any given day. Never felt wrong.
@@ixion_cyb I've seen those go up and down. Always filled up and felt okay about the money spent. I would imagine on a cool riding day it turned in around 60 mpg at its best.
So I'll throw my 2 cents in the mix as a 21 KRT ZX6R owner. So, if your commute consist of mostly city riding, do not get a ZX6R. You are going to enjoy the Ninja 400, or Z400 much much better. But if you have some open roads and not a ton of stops, then the ZX6R is going to be fine. Now, because this bike has such a stiff suspension and you aren't planning on tracking it, get the suspension softened up. You will thank me later, because the way it is from the factory bumpy twisty roads suck a55 on this bike. I have hit bumps in curves and the bike actually bounced up and over in the lane. So get the suspension softened, also run correct air pressure and tires. Don't go drop your cash down on a set of tires that are better suited for the track than the street. Yes they are super sticky, but that grip fades super fast and they ain't gonna last. A good quality set of sport touring are going to be a great option. Not only do they have great grip, but they will have excellent wet traction and will last for much longer. I am running the Michelin Road 6s on my bike, I love em. They lean great, have a comfortable ride and are holding up nicely. But, they ain't cheap, although they are worth it. Next, learn to use your lower body and core for a more enjoyable riding experience. And yes the seat is fairly hard, but you can get a gel seat pad. Next up, if you plan on this bike as your daily, even though the exhaust is ugly, your ears will thank you later for keeping it. I don't usually ride with other crotch rocket guys, because I get sick of hearing their exhaust. And when you put that aftermarket exhaust on, you usually can't hear the intake any longer. Moving on to the factory grips, they suck because of the diameter and so do 95% of the aftermarket ones. Most aftermarket ones are the same diameter, which well give you hand cramps if you ride for a long time. A good option, is to get Grip Puppies, you'll thank me later. As Spike mentioned, this bike has useable mid range, you don't have to constantly be in the upper rpms. Which actually is really helpful on twisty roads, especially when down shifting. This bike really allows you to trail brake effectively while down shifting, and with the decent midrange, you can take curves and stay in one gear through many curves. I have ridden for several years, and all I have ridden for the most part are sport bikes. So I will say, this bike is by far my favorite. The ZX14R is just too much for curvy roads, the ZX10R is decent in the curves, but the 636 is just much better. Also with the larger bikes, you spend a lot of time going slow on a fast bike. The 636 has enough speed to get you that high speed rush, but it's manageable. So the ZX6R is a great bike in my opinion
Why the Ninja 400 when you have the Ninja 650? Someone that is looking at a ZX6R probably wants power and the Ninja 400 IS powerful but not really close to the ZX6R while the Ninja 650 is kinda closer? I'm just asking 😅
I rode my Gixxer 600 ... K4 ... back and forth to work for 10 years 30 minutes each way. I carried stuff in my backpack and had no problems with ergonomics. Maybe because I'm only 5'6"? Some days I cruised in and some days I ran the hell out of it. Mostly long stretches of long roads, some interstate driving and closer to work some nice twisty back roads. Over 76000 miles with only basic maintenance and no problems. I was 42 at the time and living the life.
I know it's 2 years later but I just wanted to respond and say that's awesome! I rode 5000 miles on my cbr this summer commuting to work. I'm 28 though.. lol
Talk about beating a dead horse with this topic. You can definitely daily a super sport, even a 600CC one (1000s are more comfy). Just use common sense, keep yourself in good physical shape, carry a bag or use a tank bag for stuff, use your thighs to brace the bike like you would a horse (tank pads help) and don’t be in a full tuck the whole time. Rest the left arm on the tank when just cruising or sit up straight as much as you can. Sure, any other bike is easier to commute on, but a super sport will make every commute amazing and you’ll feel / look like a rockstar doing it. Personal recommendation: Go with any GSX-R or CBR600RR for daily. I’m on my third CBR now of the third gen and never once wished to be on a different bike wherever I went. I have a car for when I want to “cruise” around and be all laid back dealing with chores / winter weather.
Living in the middle of Tokyo, but I commute to work everyday on my ZX6R. Great to shoot out in the evening on a short ride and to find some twisty roads. And like others said before, if you have decent core muscles, the position is fine... or you get used to it. We can lane split here so that makes it a bit more reasonable during the hot humid summers. Great torque to get out of odd spots but so much that I get arrested ripping regular nooners or going so fast that I get arrested like I probably would with the ZX10. Roads here are generally better kept up than most of the US so you can really enjoy the handling of it- rock solid. Totally agree with the positions of the other makers- semi-upright so much more comfortable I found.
I’m 6’4” ad 238 lbs. I ride my ‘07 R6 daily; everywhere. I only drive the Jeep when it rains or getting groceries. I have 53,000 miles on it and go on 300-500 mile rides at a time quite often. I guess I’m just used to it.
Depends on the 600. If its an old CBR with real seats then yes. But ive tried the planks that pass for seats on more modern bikes and for me thats a hard pass. The high powerband has one advantage...if you want it to go slow its easy to just keep revs low and keep it below its powerband.
I feel like older 600s ergos have the street rider more in mind like my 2005 R6 has very manageable ergos for me but I’m also 19 and want to get a different bike for the street but I gotta save my money and I like to go to the track so I sacrificed the comfort; my first bike was a cbr 500r oh gawd no😂
I remember the time when Honda did a street CBR600 and a Trackday style road legal race version that was radically different. I personally won't even consider a plank seat as I am a Courier.
Not even gonna watch the video, I am just going to answer yes. Yes you can daily drive a 600. I have been daily driving my 2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 for the past 3 years, back and forth work, (about a 30 min commute each way), to the gym, friends houses, etc... no problem, I am in my mid-late 20s and have faced no back problems, butt hasn't hurt (unless I go riding for 6+ hours after work). Gas mileage is waaaaaaay better than my car, I have a blast taking either the highway or backroads, being able to pass traffic is no problem. I have backpack for my work/gym stuff, so luggage isn't really a concern. Driving to and from work is the highlight of my day. The only time I don't ride it is when it rains/snows or when I want to take my R1 out for a spin. I really don't get this negative stigma towards sport bikes, yes you are hunched over forward, but if you are using your legs (as you should on any bike) to hold yourself up, then its really no problem.
its not worth watching. thing is not all motorcyclist are cyclists so many don't understand the spirit of biking for sport. most all Moto gp riders ride bicycles, especially on the dirt
I've dailied my 2017 R6 during spring and summer. At 6'4" 178lbs I found it easy as anything. Even took a 5 hrs straight ride and I was good to go after getting off the bike. If I need to pass I downshift, If you know how to enter your powerband properly you shouldn't have any issues with the lacking torque in most 600s.
I rode r6s as daily for over a decade. Moving to my 19zx6r felt like moving from a Honda CRX to a Pilot lol I'm 71" and so comfortable on that bike. I've rode from El Paso to Austin and back with some canyons in between. They're killer bikes! If your back hurts exercise your core.
The ergonomics... I find that when I started going to the gym and working on my core.. The more tolerable the riding position got. Now... Not an issue at all any more. Plus, the more you ride the easier it'll get over time anyway. You'll naturally develope more strength in those areas, but until you do just take an aspirin before you ride.
@@kleinbottled79 That definitely helps. Before I got into motorcycles I rode a very aggressive road bike and had no problems doing long rides on a zx-6r. I also spend time in the gym and as @Drizzy RSX stated that helps also.
I recommend yoga; it's what I did when I dailyed my CBR600RR. You need core strength and flexibility. I still miss that bike, but doing it again I'd likely just get the CBR500. I never need all that performance on my commute, but the weather protection of the fairings is something I've missed on every bike since.
7:12 for riding in urban areas with any sport bike: Whenever you get to a stop and you know youre gonna stop for a couple more seconds, go into neutral sit upright as soon as you can. Do CAREFUL lane splitting, whenever it seems save enough. Whenever its save - get your left hand of the handlebar and sit uprightish (this doesnt only apply to riding in stop and go traffic, but also when just cruising around).
I ride my 636 to work damn near every day. Not the most comfortable, but it sure beats traffic and having a slow monotonous drive home everyday. I love my bike, I love riding, and when there’s a will there’s a way.
I used to commute for years on my CBR600RR followed by my GSXR600. That was in the UK in all weather (other than when snow had settled). No issues at all, loved it.
I think there is something wrong with me. I got a 2021 ZX-6R because I'm thinking I need to do this before I get too old and can't handle the body position anymore without pain. I'm 33 by the way so I have plenty of time before I get old but want to check boxes before I do. This bike has been for me THE most comfortable bike I have ridden on. Those naked bikes and and sport tours make me feel lazy in the seat and my knees start to hurt for I don't know why and after an hour my butt lights up on fire with pain. But this super sport feels great. I feel leaned in like my body wants to do, the highway speed makes riding it even easier since it holds me up even when leaned all the way over, I have 0 wrist pain because I don't rest on my wrist because I don't need for more than a few seconds when I'm slowing down to a stop. If you feel yourself leaning forward on your bike all the time this bike will be perfect for you.
I'm 28 years old for reference, and I've been dalying a 600 since 2019 and love it. And before that I was dailying a sv650s for 5 years (it had clip ons and has a committed riding position, not as crazy as a zx6r or my gsxr 600 but closer to that then not) Edit. My commute was 30 mins on sv 45 mins on the proper 600s
I was deciding between the ZX-6R and GSX-R 750. Rode them both and both are great bikes... the ZX-6R was more affordable and has a lot more features so it was a no brainer for me. I went with the all black. I love it and I am very happy with my choice. Also, its important to note that my last bike was an early 2000's GSX-R 600.
I’m in exactly the same dilemma. I had a gsxr 600 srad last time I had a bike (about 15 years ago) and am looking to get back into it at the ripe age of 41 😬. The 750 seems better ergonomically but the zx6r is so much better on tech, and I want a quick shifter to save my wrists which the 750 doesn’t have as standard - the srad killed them in traffic! I’ve found a 750 with it fitted as well as other mods but it’s obviously been tracked. It wouldn’t be a daily, but decisions decisions.
@@matthewemmerson2258 such a similar situation... my bike was an SRAD as well! After putting some miles on my bike, I love my ZX-6R but kind of wish I would have just bit the bullet and went with either the GSX-R 1000 or ZX-10R... I know I will eventually want "more", I don't yet but i know it will happen. I am also a larger guy... the GSX-R and ZX-10R both have great features. I truly think the ZX-10R is a better bike all things considered... but something has me drawn to the GSX-R 😅 I will say that it is a more comfortable bike. Do I keep the ZX-6R and upgrade it? Or just go for the liter bike? Tough to decide. Wish you the best.
Thanks for the reply, that helps a lot. I think the litre bike is more than I need at the moment, and too expensive on the insurance £800 a year which is around $1000. The 750 is a happy medium and closer ergos to the CBR which I wanted originally. I’m a bigger guy than I was too at 95kg now, so was worried the cbr600 wouldn’t last me that long, or would look too small for me. The 750 just seems perfect now from what you’ve said apart from no q-shifter as standard. I’ve got my eye on one with a QS but it’s obviously been tracked, I may be able to have a deal with them though. Thanks again for the reply and happy riding.
@@matthewemmerson2258 i love the raw feel of the GSX-R... plus the analog tachometer, along with a screen is the best of both worlds. Get yourself a 750 and just go into it knowing you'll at some point get a quickshifter for it (hopefully soon, they are a game changer). And they aren't too pricey. But overall phenomenal bike man!!
@4:00 The CBR 600RR (en masse) has consistently had higher clip-ons & lower seat heights than the R6 & ZX-6R. It is arguably a much more streetable ergonomics package than the bog standard 600 ergos. The fans also switch on sooner and the bike runs cooler overall (in stock form). I think the GSX-R 600/750 peg position is different, or maybe the seat is just higher up, but it’s been about 10 years since I’ve sat on a Suzuki. They always felt a bit strange in comparison to the other big 4 Japanese bikes. The team has consistently skirted around the 600RR every time they review the 600 class, and I wish they would get one to review to understand how comfortable and fun they are as a daily super sport, much more fun than the 650, and WAY less frenetic than the Fireblade. That being said, love the YN crew & their content!
The suzuki has the lowest seat height of all four japanese brands. However, when I sat on one, it felt pretty aggressive for the height. So probably either lower clip ons or peg set up was different
I agree totally, I have a 2013 600rr , I ride it 40 mile round trip to work. Works great for me. It’s flashed and tuned, work done by BlackWidow in San Antonio. If yam and spite want to use it they are more than welcome to use it to make a special episode of all 600’s class, where they can actually ride 600rr, R6, 636, GSXR-600, then they can a fair comparison.
@@nomufftotuff8 Nice! Yeah my 2008 has been an absolute blast since I’ve owned it. The thing just loves to run, and I basically live on it in the dry months.
Because Yammie has an opinion about 600s and has been on a crusade to spread it and prove himself right. His team tows the line, they repeat the same talking points "race bike with headlights" etc. They usually talk about the R6 as it's the most aggressive seating, lowest on power, and worst power curve of all 600s, even after it has been discontinued.
I picked up a z900 a couple weeks ago and it’s super comfortable and as fast as the 636 believe it or not so just get that, save you a thousand bucks too
I rode my 06 R6 as a daily for years. Took it to the track multiple times, countless afternoon rides in the twisties and even a little over a half dozen near 400 miles a day long rides. Having a full tank bag to lay on was crucial for the long rides. Unfortunately, we've gotten older, and the R6 beats me up whenever I ride it, so it's the more upright seating of the Speed Twin or Streetfighter that I enjoy now.
I commuted on a ZX6R for a few years when I still lived in NJ. My actual commute was a 30 mile trip on the Parkway in the opposite direction to most commuters so it was a whole lot of exhaust note and wind noise and allegedly going cartoonishly illegally fast. Really, the big pain was the toll booths until EZPass came along. Once I could tuck my EZPass into my jacket breast pocket, that went away and tollbooths just became a chance to slow down and wheelie for some random beach tourists. Yeah. I was a squid 20 years ago.
This used to be my bike, and it can be ridden every day, but it’s just aggravating having to ride slow in traffic. I’m just so much more relaxed in traffic on my Harley
I loved my 2003 636. The ergo's seemed to be cut better for my longer legs. I could pull 6 hr. round trips and it felt like a scalpel in turns. I have a GSXR 1000 now and it feels so front heavy to me. I really miss having a 636, it really was a fun bike.
I am over 40 and after 14 years in the military I have 7 damaged disks and have had 8 reconstructive surgeries on just my left knee. That being said I ride my 600RR every chance I get. My hour commute to work? Yes. Hours of playing on back roads? Yes. All day wondering just to not be home on my days off? Yes. I do not take it on long road trips to visit family a state away, but there's not a bike I would do that on anyhow. If I'm just at speed on the highway all day there's no fun in being on a bike to me.
I do 56 min no traffic or 1 hour and a half with traffic on my daily ZX6R, and I love it, yes, it can be tiring, but it compensates with the way it rides; I wouldn't have it any other way.
@@drummer_zay9493 I go in at 9 am so I do get slow downs but not much, and sometimes I do get traffic because accidents but still fine. And I'm pretty sure at 4 am you won't get any traffic hahaha keep on giving bro 🤙
People don't buy a super sport because it's comfortable. That's like buying a 1 ton truck, and saying it gets bad gas mileage. Well no shit sherlock. People need to stop saying a sport bike is uncomfortable. It's a super sport motorcycle. It's meant to be driven at Mach chicken with 1 knee on the tarmac, not at highway speed for hours. Also, forget your personal opinions on the bike. It's a review, no one cares what you think of it, give us the low down. Nobody cares if you like the color. I rode a supersport for 15 years, daily. I did it because it was my style, not because it was comfortable.
Great video. My 60th Anniversary World GP R7 finally got here last week. But I still have my ZX6R. I love the ZX6R, but even though the ZX6R it much more street friendly than most 600s, it really begs you to ride it fast. So much so I really don't know how I haven't ended up in jail or at least with an insanely expensive ticket. I will get the urge to roll back that throttle and end up in triple digits in no time. I originally bought it for a track bike, but it's still a lot of fun on the street. However, the R7 is definitely more for the street machine. I may go all out on setting up the ZX6R for the track. I'm still trying to decide though. I had someone ask me why I had 2 bikes that were so similar. They really aren't similar other than appearance. But I told them the ZX6R is a race bike with lights and the R7 is a street bike you can take to the track. It doesn't sound very different, but it really really is. It's hard to think I would set the ZX6R up for track only. We'll see. BTW. I hope you guys now realize how ridiculous the RS660 is. For the same or even less money the ZX6R is soooo much more bike. Again really enjoyed the video.
Helibars. Simple, look stock, radically change the comfort. Used them on my ZX6R, a GSX-R750 and now on my R1. Doesn't hurt handling on track, either...
I just bought a 2023 zx6r 3 days ago. I got the metallic matte twilight blue. But going from a CB500F to this is a huge difference. My neck was sore as hell after putting about 60 miles on it. But that's probably because my posture is all wrong (or at least I hope that's why and it's something I can fix). I was absolutely terrified when I was leaving the dealer on that thing. After a few miles, I felt a little better. And then I started having a little fun and getting more comfortable. It really is such a fun bike that you can look past the ergonomics. I only have a 20-minute commute to work, and most of it is open road, so I could see myself riding to work on it. But I know people who drive an hour to get to work, I definitely wouldn't recommend this for them, or they'll have to leave extra early because you really do need to stop and take a break occasionally to stretch out. I did find a set of aftermarket clip-ons that have a narrower band and a different angle, so they raise the handles an inch and a half. They're $299 but I'll probably get them at some point.
@@pitchforkpeasant6219 I did not. As I rode the bike more and more, I got more comfortable and fixed my posture on it. So the lean doesn't bother me anymore. The only thing I changed for ergo reasons was adjustable rearsets so I could move my pegs and levers down and back a little because I'm 6'3" and have long legs. I still have to stop and take breaks now and then. But I absolutely love this bike.
Heya Spike. Best review of the ZX6 636R. Sadly you did in this video show why its not my first bike. I have to fall back to my OHC single cyl GSX 150R, a awesome and fun bike to own, and redline is not jail mistakes, mayby a ticket. And its a overlooked bike, not a stupid slow 125 cc bike, but a real monster for beginners. Top speed abit under 100 MPH, so its fast enough. They did some magic with the engine, so its more potent. Its not a 125cc limited to 75 mph. Good engine and super light bike=fun time
Im 5'6 100 pounds living in michigan, known for its potholes and shitty roads... I own 2 zx6s, and drive those babies everywhere I go. Hell i broke mine out in 45°f weather bc i was so impatient with winter. If you love the bike, don't listen to the hate
This all depends on what kind of route your commute is and the time . If you work downtown and had to fight through rush hour traffic all the time and we are talking about a place that lane splitting is illegal(looking at you Canada)? Then supersports isn't a good idea. But for me, I work in the industrial/logistics sector. Most traffic i see is one or two 18wheelers. Most of the time the highway is free when I leave from my house until I time ourr from work. Enjoyed the 600 every minuete of my commute
My 2020 ZX6R is my only mode of transportation and I couldn’t be any happier. I’ve never met a ZX6R owner who doesn’t absolutely love their bike. I mean listen to spite at 32:00, how can you argue with his energy? Haha
Jeez man just buy the bike you want and you'll figure it out yourself. My "daily driver" is an s1000rr. It is nowhere near "too aggressive". It's perfect.
600 super sports, yep any day all day. Had a 600 for 8 years straight without a car. If you are young it should be no problem. I'm 56 yoa and still ride a gixxer 750. But of course I have a sport tourer as well.
As a gixxer boy I can say I definitely agree with that thumbnail of low back pain but the ability to cruise at high speeds in the hwy is quite nice in comparison to my fz07.
I take my Yamaha r6 daily to work depending on the weather and I love it tbh in my opinion I think you should ride it within your skill and your comfortability I feel like going through these motovlogs to get an opinion on what you want to ride or get or should get is a myth. The key to riding a bike is body head and throttle control also breaking. I'm not telling anybody to start on a 1000 or a 600 If you do enough research you should be happy with whatever bike you get just my opinion.
Hey I’m a beginner and I wanted to start riding. I’m thinking of getting a Yamaha r6 also. I seen something about them getting discontinued do you think that could be bad for I’m the future if I end up needing any parts?
So true. Spite has been hooked by sportbikes. I know, FZ1 , GSX750F and 19999 Hayabusa not turboed, and also love riding friends HD96 cu dyna. Love em all, no favourite.
Kawasaki green is so goddamn harsh on the eyes. I think the shape of it is beautiful, and it looks amazing in black. Would own this bike. Might someday.
I truly belong in the camp that you can daily every motorcycle when you live under the right conditions. Throughout the second half of spring, the complete summer and first half of autumn I get to Uni on my S1000RR. It's not too long of a ride so it's perfectly fine when the weather plays along, otherwise the bus has to work 🤷🏻♀️
@@Irinananana that's awesome! I love BMW bikes they put so much into them, I'm on a 2017 Z900 Right now, I want to do a bunch of work to it. I'm sitting with a broken throttle hand, so I'm going to start work on it soon. I hit a deer too lol
@@treehouseconstituents6402 Sounds painful, for you and the deer lol The Z900 is definitely a neat machine though, I bet you'll have lots of fun with it once you'll be able to ride ✌🏻
I'm 330lbs and I ride an 05' SV650S and I commute 90 miles everyday for three days out of the week. It's a hella boring ride, but Nirvana keeps me awake!
I just bought a ZX-10R and I did my 25 mile each way commute 3 times last week. It got cold out this week but once it warms out I'll be riding it everyday unless it's raining
My stresses regarding daily riding any supersport aren't provoked by concerns of comfort. It's simply the fact that someone is going to steal the bike while it's parked outside. I learned the hard way when I used to daily my R6 and Zx6r.
Big brain move: plop out the engine and dump it in a custom frame / chassis in the style of a brat. Put some mids and a bench style seat filled with a purple mattress brand booty cushion. Handlebars, good suspension system, et cetera. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am, daily ride 600 If I ever have expendable green rectangles, I plan on doing something along these lines with a Daytona 675 or F3 engine.
Finally. I've been torn between the 636 and a gsxr 750. I currently daily a Ducati SS (which I will never get rid of) but I wanted something I can take to the track as well as a bit of weekend warrioring.
I have -99 zx6r, in three years i have visited the track once, this summer maybe again and hopefully on a dry track. Here in Finland there would be great roads in the countryside if they were not full of holes and cracks
I’m in my 40’s and ride a 04 CBR F4i. Even after spinal surgery, I am able to daily this bike. The ergonomics are much better for me than a RR. However for long commutes I’d prefer to ride my cruiser.
I rode a zx600 in the 80's to Indianapolis once which was a 4 hr. ride for me. It was torture but I loved that bike. I would love to ride the zx6r. I'm now 68 going on 24. I love my MT07. I can't wait for Kawasaki to do a demo ride close to me. Even then I wont be able to wind her out. Yeah I would have to put risers on this bike. Maybe some mini apes.
I like these living with motorcycle eps, I seen one of your other ones and was super informative! , I bought a vitpilen 401 recently and I'm super excited , a little nervous tho bc ppl keep mentioning the riding position being difficult, but I don't wana regret it , I will end up doing some highway commuta like 130 mile round trips Twice a week with it so hopefully it works well ! Just super excited to just ride it around
The CBR 600F4i was the last somewhat comfortable sport bike I have ridden. At the end of the day I like going for loooooong rides which is part of why I gave up the fully faired sport bikes with clip ons. Hard to beat in a good canyon though.
I just got the zx6r a week ago right around biketoberfest. my wife wanted to ride with me so we rode around the whole weekend. After we got done my back was so fucked up I had to go to a chiropractor.
My 03 636 has been my daily in the city for 4 months now, its been a journey thats for sure! put a 1000 miles in the first 3 months and some cold days had me dying but other than that I think its really comfortable as a 6ft skinny guy! I enjoy the aggressive position more than I thought I gives me more confidence and control in every moment. My commute to work is only 4 miles so its nice not too bad of a ride when I'm still waking up lol A huge benefit is skipping all the traffic before and after work and gives me a fun spiritual ride everyday. It gives me an appreciation of life being so close to death. Plus everyone jealous with how much I save on gas ;) It also reminds me why I work my painful job at UPS I look at it after a hard day packing and I'm like goddamn that's mine that's what I'm working for.
I have a R1200GS and a S1000RR. I ride them back to back and I'm surprised that after about 3 hs, I'm more sore on the GS because it has a harder seat. If a switch the seat to a comfort one in the GS, they are about the same. But the RR is more fun, more quiet and it only takes about 20% more fuel. Obviously the GS is more practical because you can basically carry more stuff, and it has a range of 350km instead of 250km, and is better off-road, but for my height, the RR is more comfortable.

Go full carbon fairings :)
Believe it or not unlike the USA the land of excess most normal people only have one bike. If your into sports bikes you'll live with the negatives.

@@niklaus1835 ninja 400 has more sport riding potential than the 650. That 400 handles corners like you wouldn’t believe

I used to daily an 08 cbr600rr... can be done. For about 2 months i did a 1 hour commute each way and it was fun.

7:12 for riding in urban areas with any sport bike:
Whenever you get to a stop and you know youre gonna stop for a couple more seconds, go into neutral sit upright as soon as you can. Do CAREFUL lane splitting, whenever it seems save enough. Whenever its save - get your left hand of the handlebar and sit uprightish (this doesnt only apply to riding in stop and go traffic, but also when just cruising around).

The CBR 600RR (en masse) has consistently had higher clip-ons & lower seat heights than the R6 & ZX-6R.

I used my 09 zx6r as a daily rider. Loved it. Miss it. Favorite bike I have owned.

Did you get those clip ons and raise the handlebars? How’d it work out for you?
@@pitchforkpeasant6219 I did not. As I rode the bike more and more, I got more comfortable and fixed my posture on it. So the lean doesn't bother me anymore. I still have to stop and take breaks now and then. But I absolutely love this bike.
@@dylanshackelton845good to know. Thanks for your reply👍👍😊
*slowly backs up while looking down the window at his R6 daily bike*
I’m loving Spite’s energy in this video. He needs a 636 now!
Haha
I commute on 2021 Zx6r and I have no problem but I been riding Zx6r since the 05 version and I just love it
I currently daily a 2019 zx6r. It will be my track bike but until its not street legal ill be dailying on it.
One of my favorite videos yet. Have a 2011 Blue/Black Zx6R so this one was a treat
I daily a 03 kawi 636 and im 40. And i love EVERY SECOND OF IT. My wife, not so much. 🤣👍
Ps my commute is about 20 min. I m about 10 or 11 miles from work. Mostly highway miles.
Jeez man just buy the bike you want and you'll figure it out yourself. My "daily driver" is an s1000rr. It is nowhere near "too aggressive". It's perfect.
I used to commute on the old style 600 Fazer. Loved it!!!
600 super sports, yep any day all day. Had a 600 for 8 years straight without a car. If you are young it should be no problem. I'm 56 yoa and still ride a gixxer 750. But of course I have a sport tourer as well.
When commuting with one hand sitting upright the lack of wind protection helps because the wind takes some load of your core.
I’ve been dailying my Yamaha Fz6r for about 3 months now it’s been pretty good so far
As a gixxer boy I can say I definitely agree with that thumbnail of low back pain but the ability to cruise at high speeds in the hwy is quite nice in comparison to my fz07.
I daily my 2021 ZX6R, almost 5000 miles on it now.
Yessir!
I'm not telling anybody to start on a 1000 or a 600
If you do enough research you should be happy with whatever bike you get just my opinion.
I only feel it after riding my 06 636 after 4 or 5 hours of riding. I ride it daily everywhere
Ive not watched the video yet, but I've just got back from a 260 mile ride on my 636, and I feel totally fine.
Champ School is apparently an organization secretly dedicated to converting riders of all experience levels into bona fide street squids lol.
ZX6R vs 701 Supermoto, This would be an awesome comparison. Two weekend fun bikes but very different.
Kawasaki green is so goddamn harsh on the eyes. I think the shape of it is beautiful, and it looks amazing in black. Would own this bike. Might someday.
I have daily’d this bike for a year… it’s been fun! looking for an MT10 now.
After watching this video, the ZX4R begins to make sense if it's like a baby ZX6R.
I truly belong in the camp that you can daily every motorcycle when you live under the right conditions. Throughout the second half of spring, the complete summer and first half of autumn I get to Uni on my S1000RR. It's not too long of a ride so it's perfectly fine when the weather plays along, otherwise the bus has to work 🤷🏻♀️
what year S1000RR??? I Love that bike
@@treehouseconstituents6402 2020 Model year, I bought mine last year slightly used
@@Irinananana that's awesome! I love BMW bikes they put so much into them, I'm on a 2017 Z900 Right now, I want to do a bunch of work to it. I'm sitting with a broken throttle hand, so I'm going to start work on it soon. I hit a deer too lol
@@treehouseconstituents6402 Sounds painful, for you and the deer lol
The Z900 is definitely a neat machine though, I bet you'll have lots of fun with it once you'll be able to ride ✌🏻
Commuting to uni on a 1000cc 😳😳😳 I get to uni on a 400cc atm, upgrading to a 650 soon tho 🙏🏽
I ride a CBR 600 daily city and highway with no complaints. I ❤ my bike. Spite is just a whiner…and a bit soft. Just sayin
What kind of gas mileage can you get?
Wham, bam, thank you ma'am, daily ride 600
If I ever have expendable green rectangles, I plan on doing something along these lines with a Daytona 675 or F3 engine.
I daily my zx6r 2023 .. 20 min in the morning and 30 - 40 min after work depending on traffic.. I think is not that bad
You gotta check those counterweights and rubber mounts Spike, the vibrations are making the speedo unreadable!😉
Use my R6 as a daily commuter and LOVE it. My commute is my favorite part of the day.
I use to daily my 07 GSXR 600. Was great. Also have done 7+ hour rides some days just fine
Finally. I've been torn between the 636 and a gsxr 750. I currently daily a Ducati SS (which I will never get rid of) but I wanted something I can take to the track as well as a bit of weekend warrioring.
The 750 will probably be more comfortable. GSXRs are known for easy going seating position, relatively.
Gen 3 Yamaha R6 for life. not sure why but I find it extremely comfortable 👌
I have -99 zx6r, in three years i have visited the track once, this summer maybe again and hopefully on a dry track. Here in Finland there would be great roads in the countryside if they were not full of holes and cracks
Yup, no problem. Can you get better on it? Yes, but only if you are an extremely talented rider.
Honda's 600R is the most commuter friendly 4i (honestly the only one lol)
I commute on my Zx6R, it’s great!!!!30-40min journey. 😁
My daily driver was a CBR 600rr for a year rain snow shine and I loved it!!
I’m in my 40’s and ride a 04 CBR F4i. Even after spinal surgery, I am able to daily this bike. The ergonomics are much better for me than a RR. However for long commutes I’d prefer to ride my cruiser.
Clicks first video I see from yammie “throws on helmet” (doesn’t have bike) “let’s do this 😂😂”
I rode a zx600 in the 80's to Indianapolis once which was a 4 hr. ride for me.
The highway is its playground and u have to train it. Dit 400 miles yesterday with little smoke brake in the middle. A kaoko trottle lock can help to.
Helibars. Ride that bike all day.
